Been looking forward to this. Great reviews

Sheridan smith plays teacher Jenna whose life is turned upside down when accused of a sexual encounter with a teen pupil Kyle

Drunk when the incident allegedly happened Jenna can’t remember what happened

4 parter, on every night this week

Let's hope the new one coming soon will be better

Family on holiday , son arrested for sexually assaulting a boy

Totally forgot the name already

Wonder if there will be a curtain ?

TheVolturi · 05/02/2022 09:06

To be honest, I think she was inappropriate with Kyle. She batted her eyelashes at him and acted like a girl with a crush throughout every interaction with him. And at the end, she definitely seemed to be acting sexy with him 🤢

Yes definitely.

One thing I thought came over well was Jenna's realisation that she wasn't the brilliant teacher she'd thought she was. You could tell she thought highly of herself as a teacher, even though much of her success was down to nepotism, and when ridiculously-young-gym-going-headmaster cut her down to size, you could see that his words hit home.

Yes That "cocetish" lowering of the eyes Lower of head Nervous smile

Very inappropriate

PugInTheHouse · 05/02/2022 09:50

I found the whole thing a bit confusing at the end. I thought the end was a bit crap and there were a lot of inconsistencies such as the way she was told about the allegations and how the lawyer behaved. It detracted from what could have been a brilliant programme. I was also a bit confused about how she behaved with Kyle at the end, was it just her acting being rubbish at the attempt to be comforting/supportive of him, or was she being flirty with him?

TBH, I don't think SS's acting was up to the job.

She didn't need to be able to act all that well in Two Pints of Lager and Gavin and Stacey.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 05/02/2022 10:18

i think SS is good
she was great as Cilla
and i am sure she has been in other stuff and was excellent - The C Word was very good too.

i think the story let her down.
that and the curtain Wink

PugInTheHouse · 05/02/2022 10:48

I also watched A Teacher. It is a student teacher relationship but a 17 yo student who turns 18 during their relationship. I think it was made really well, covers all angles of the situation and a really sensible ending. It's on sky catch up.

PugInTheHouse · 05/02/2022 10:49

Her acting is definitely stage school-esk. It is the sort of acting required on the stage where you need to over emphasise facial expressions and movements as your not close enough to the audience. Brilliant on stage but on my giant TV (don't judge me MN) not really good enough.

the80sweregreat · 05/02/2022 12:38

The new SS drama is called ' no return ' on ITV on Monday for four episodes and will be available on the ITV hub after Monday night
I'm sure that blonds will start a thread on telly addicts for this.
She is a mum on holiday in Turkey with her family. ( There Might be a curtain in the hotel room instead of a door ! )

I watched this too and also thought it was better than SS's The Teacher!
BorisBooster · 05/02/2022 13:35

Pauline needed to pull her self together and draw a line under her relationship with Brian.

I'll get my coat 🤣

the80sweregreat · 05/02/2022 13:45

Pauline was another victim really
Made to live with a nasty horrible man with a shit taste in home decor.

I'm watching this now on iPlayer. Completely different and so much better!
Idolovetrees · 05/02/2022 17:36

No way would she be wearing short mini skirts into school!

blyn72 · 05/02/2022 22:17

I watched 'A Teacher' too and found it extremely disturbing. Which I suppose is good, it wasn't meant to be comfortable viewing.

PugInTheHouse · 05/02/2022 22:38

I agree blyn72. I thought the ending was excellent though. I wasn't sure how it was going but I was glad that's how they dealt with it.

blyn72 · 05/02/2022 23:13

I agree, Pug.

lightisnotwhite · 06/02/2022 08:17

@DobbyTheHouseElk

Literally the worst thing I’ve ever watched.

Why was it filmed in Budapest. The tower blocks didn’t look very UK. So very weird.

SS acting is awful.

It was like the last episode was written by someone else in a lunch break.

Pauline didn’t seem very bright, yet she worked in a school. Was she a teacher? Why was she in a random cupboard?

On My5 it says it’s “series 1” let’s hope series 2 doesn’t get commissioned.

Filmed in Budapest because filming over here is very unionised. It costs an absolute fortune. The crew they can get elsewhere, justifies the expense of getting everyone on a plane and into hotels in Budapest.

I shouldn't complain but there are almost too many dramas at the moment - The Responder, Trigger Point, and The Bay, plus No Return and Chloe just about to start and Teacher just finished. Bound to be others I've missed out.
Once these finish I bet there's nothing on for the rest of the year!

Hearwego · 06/02/2022 13:18

I agree Papergirl1968-too many good dramas all on at once!...Looking forward to No Return starting tomorrow.

Even the BBC are playing Dragons Den and The Apprentice on the same day, back to back.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/02/2022 19:39

Agree @Hearwego. Why do bbc and itv bath do 9pm for dramas

Know if prime time but ,,,,

Bbc usually win as it. Has +1 as does cg4 and ch5

So why doesn’t bbc

Good point, Blondes.
Thank you for starting the threads. This one has been particularly hilarious. I will remember Pauline hiding behind that curtain long after I've forgotten the rest of the (bizarre) storyline! Grin
