Just starting a thread for tonight's QT.

What with Boris Johnson and Andrew's "partying", this may get very heated

@ENoeuf

Not sure being able to focus for a couple of hours on some pretty heavy things when you are PM is noteworthy? Surely basic ‘essentials’ on the JD?
I know!

I was screaming at the TV "But that's his job!!!"

OP posts:
minou123 · 27/01/2022 23:11

It's an interesting panel.

I think the Tory MP was trying to play both sides, by saying he was furious, but then saying Boris is later focused on the issues.
He failed

Not culpable for, but right to apologize for.. cant be both surely?!

ENoeuf · 27/01/2022 23:15

GB bloke is annoying.
Why are they all missing the point about why the parties matter? I’m so frustrated other people are allowed to vote 😂

Jellykat · 27/01/2022 23:16

Stupid sparkly mask woman.. missing the point entirely imo

Jellykat · 27/01/2022 23:16

Grin Enoeuf

minou123 · 27/01/2022 23:17

You two are hilarious Grin

I like brown cardi lady, - very sensible question.

OP posts:
ENoeuf · 27/01/2022 23:25

Bright pink lady is distracting me with her peekaboo nose outside of mask.

Jellykat · 27/01/2022 23:26

Brown cardi? i'd call it 'olive', is my tellys colour on the wonk?

Jellykat · 27/01/2022 23:28

'levelling up' - yet another slogan that meant fuck all!

ENoeuf · 27/01/2022 23:29

Levelling up = grinding everywhere down to the same level.

minou123 · 27/01/2022 23:30

@Jellykat

Brown cardi? i'd call it 'olive', is my tellys colour on the wonk?
I'm terrible at colours, I just automatically go for the nearest "easiest" colour.

Crimson, puce, olive etc mean nothing to me Grin

OP posts:
Jellykat · 27/01/2022 23:31

Yes exactly! Enoeuf
(still looking for bright pink lady in the peekabo mask)

minou123 · 27/01/2022 23:31

I'm so pleased you've picked up on this because I don't know what "Levelling Up" means.

It's meaning changes every time a Tory uses it.

As far as I can see Boris keeps getting sent out for the day to keep him out of mischief. Seems to spend most of his time these days playing on the latest scanner in regional hospitals or dressing up in lab coats, hard hats, police uniform etc. Today he was packed off to work on the conveyor belt in a Welsh recycling plant. So if he managed to stay focused on a meeting about the Ukraine last night he shouldn't have found it too mentally draining.

ENoeuf · 27/01/2022 23:35

It’s just another strap line isn’t it. Like Big Society.

minou123 · 27/01/2022 23:36

Another week done.

I'm looking forward to which Tory MP is going to be wheeled out when the "Sue Grey" report comes out.
Do you think they play rock, paper, scissors to be not "it"?

OP posts:
Jellykat · 27/01/2022 23:42

Put it this way minou , i expect Boris has a lot of 'hi vis jacket wearing appointments' booked for the next 2 weeks.. theres a lot of factories, fridges, sewage plants to visit in the country!

DoctorTwo · 27/01/2022 23:45

@minou123

I loathe this GB news guy.

But that might be my bias

I thought Liam Hannigan's reply on the Russia/Ukraine situation was thoughtful and honest, but it does coincide with my own opinion, which is why would he invade? His countrymen don't want it, and there is already a buffer zone in Donbass. The problem is that the US are pushing the invasion narrative, probably because of Crimea, whose strategic importance in the region they were drooling over in 2014 before Russia took over there. I don't blame Russia for that, the US would've had shiploads of troops installed there before you could say uncle.

So, despite me not getting on with Liam's politics in general, on this point I agree with him.

But that might be my bias.

This is why I love both MN and politics, PARD is not only encouraged but is easy. Too many people are lazy though and resort to insult and hyperbole. Thanks for this thread, it's most interesting.

minou123 · 28/01/2022 00:03

That's interesting DoctorTwo

Admittedly my knowledge of the Russia/Ukraine situation is not great, I understand the basics but not the nuance, iyswim. So I'm always willing to listen to all points of view.

I think like some others, I will listen to others opinions. However, and it's a big however, I take views from GB news with a pinch of salt.

I try to listen, I may not agree or like the person, but I will listen.

Fun fact for tonight's QT.....
Crispin Blunt (Tory MP) is the uncle of Emily Blunt!

OP posts:
minou123 · 03/02/2022 22:48

Anyone watching?

OP posts:
MrsSkylerWhite · 03/02/2022 22:58

Bit fed up with QT. I remember when there were usually at least a couple of senior ministers from government/opposition on each week or respected, senior journalists, authors or broadcasters.
Never heard of half of the panelists these days.
Much prefer Any Questions.

rainbowninja · 03/02/2022 23:03

Only one woman on the panel seems disappointing
