I thought Jen was a great addition in this. Prefer her accent to Morven's anyday!
There is a lot more diversity in the cast which is good.
I didn't notice about the deaf boy looking older. But so what if he does! They're all acting, it's not real life!

Well of course it's acting but surely an actor should be around the age of the person they are playing or at least look it?

The school boy is, I assume, meant to be about 17. He is 25 in real life but actually looks older. If you told me he was in his 30's I would believe it.

I find it ridiculous and annoying.

Would you think it was ok if an 18 year old was playing a woman of 60?

Gilmorehill · 14/01/2022 17:31

It was a ridiculous start- her chancing on the scene of the crime. But what’s really bugging me is the mispronounciation of the victim’s name. Seif is Arabic for sword. It’s hard to get it exactly right but the closest English pronunciation is safe. It’s driving me insane.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/01/2022 20:14

Yes very lucky /handy she crashes right by where the body was

I think some of the stiltedness comes for the obvious Covid filming. Same in Vera. Once you see it, you can't unsee it.

I noticed that and also how she calls the mother Murrium. We have a Maryam at work and she pronounces it as it looks. Marian with an M instead of an N.
Gilmorehill · 17/01/2022 18:06

@ImJustMadAboutSaffron that’s exactly right! Plus the idea of a religious Muslim family accepting Miryam shacking up with someone is a real stretch of the imagination.

ilovebrie8 · 17/01/2022 18:31

The story is poor, acting poor ...hope things improve !! I was really pleased it was back on but it’s not great so far

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/01/2022 19:27

Anyone going to watch tonight

Give it a chance

OP posts:
Sparticle · 20/01/2022 09:57

We didn't watch it last night but probably will catch up with it tonight.

butterpuffed · 20/01/2022 10:47

I watched it last night, I don't think it's too bad but preferred the former lead actress .

They seem to be dropping hints about almost all of them but they're probably red herrings. Jenn's partner looks dodgy as does Jamal .

Magicpaintbrush · 20/01/2022 10:59

I didn't think the first two series were particularly good and found Morven Christie really annoying, so when I saw it was a new detective replacing her I was pleased and thought I would give it a go.

Got to the first ad break and am already wondering whether to bother watching any further. Writing is shite. Acting is shite.

TheGratefulBread · 20/01/2022 11:10

I'm enjoying this series, like I enjoyed the previous two.

I was disappointed when I read that Morven Christie didn't want to continue in the role of Lisa, and while Marsha Thomason's character is taking some getting used to, I think it's a good replacement.

Yes lots of red herrings

Not sure who I think bashed him

Episode 2 didn't seem to get any further along. And I don't give a monkeys about the victim so it's hard to care if they solves the case or not.

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 21/01/2022 17:31

It's really hard work watching this for two reasons!

One is, because I know Morecambe so well, I am constantly 'location- spotting'.

And Two is because I keep expecting the Radfords to turn up en-masse with a Vital Clue! 😉

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/01/2022 19:19

I will be like that @WheresThatCatGoneNow on trigger point as that’s filmed near me

Papergirl1968 · 21/01/2022 20:05

I'm enjoying it.
They're trying to make us think Adnan did it, and clearly he does have a nasty temper, but I wonder if the deaf brother did it. Is that Jamal or is Jamal someone else?

Papergirl1968 · 21/01/2022 21:21

Ah, the deaf lad is Jamal. My money is on him.

Clawdy · 21/01/2022 22:18

The pronunciation of Maryam annoyed me, too.

TwentinQuarantino · 23/01/2022 03:28

I binge watched this on itv player. Slow in parts but I quite liked it. No spoilers from me of course, but agree the youngest brother should have been cast as the eldest. No way would a Muslim mother openly drink like that and have a boyfriend, that bit was quite unrealistic. Maryam is pronounced Muryam or Meryam in most Muslim communities, despite the spelling. I had a friend at school of that name and her mum pronounced it similar to Jenn.

I'd say I enjoyed it way more than other dramas recently aired on itv player. Hollington Drive was dire, as was Angela Black.

AutisticLegoLover · 23/01/2022 20:48

I'm up to episode 5 and enjoying it.

Cherrypies · 26/01/2022 21:05

Having watched the first two series and enjoyed it, watched the first episode of series 3 on catch up last night.
Absolutely dire, dull as ditch water, so slow. When they first showed Jamal, sitting at a desk in class, thought he was a trainee teacher! No way in even the most active imagination, can anyone believe it's supposed to be a 16yr old boy, he has the sturdy figure of a man, with an older face, than the actor is in real life, 25!
I won't waste my time with episode 2......

ilovebrie8 · 26/01/2022 21:15

Shame it’s turned out to be a let down! Loved the first two series but this is poor...lead actress isn’t likeable ..,.Lisa I liked and had a personality but new lead ain’t cutting it Shock

longwayoff · 26/01/2022 21:40

Dear Lord its boring. Halfway through ep 3 and I've had enough. Going to have a look at Katie Price's mucky mansion which may be more interesting. Hard not to be really.
