@AutumnLeaves22 definitely in fact I've just watched from the very beginning the police interview and I thought it was a woman speaking initially when it was jn fact him. Could he be gay or even trans ??
I agree and thought he might be a trans man, but SURELY that would have been mentioned at some point by someone along the line. I think it's not possible for Kane to be transgender as it would have been mentioned or leaked on Facebook by now. But it would explain why he's not the biological father....

I have done a Google search and it is not mentioned anywhere which prison he is in. I thought this would have quickly confirmed his biological sex as as far as I know they wouldn't put a biological female in a mens prison, although I do know it happens the other way round (and that's a whole different thread!!!).

@GreenerGrass103 my dd's friend stepdad is trans and the face and voice is very similar. Just a thought !!

And it might also explain that ridiculous beard he was sporting.

Ieatmarmite · 08/01/2022 15:34

Was she numb to it all? I don’t know. There was an indifference that was chilling

The last thing I want to do is to make excuses for her, but I wonder if her behaviour was a result of the coercive control, and control enforced with violence, that Kane (was a man ever so appropriately named by his parents) exerted over her. And perhaps other men before him. A long, long, long time ago I was in a relationship with a man who was similarly controlling - thank goodness I didn't have kids. I fell so completely under his malign "spell" that I didn't see how bad he was. His own friends told me to leave him, he was so nasty. It's only now, when it's well an truly buried in the past that I can really see how awful he was.

Maybe Teddy's mum was experiencing similar but worse. I appreciate that many people have abusive childhoods, have violent & coercive partners, are gas-lit to the point when they don't know when up is up , but they do their best to protect their children and would give up a killer in a heartbeat, so i don't want to excuse her. But I think maybe her case is more complex than Kane's was. I have not the slightest interest in finding any understanding for him and hope his time in prison is very, very unpleasant.

Sportslady44 · 08/01/2022 16:21

how disgusting are people shagging around and creating babies they dont want and cant care for.

What a horrible sign of the times. Most kids we here about in the news recently who are abused and killed have all come from homes where they lived with a stepmum or dad or a mums boyfriend, dads girlfriend etc.

People need to sort themselves out and work on themselves before they keeping having children.

lollipoprainbow · 08/01/2022 16:23

@GreenerGrass103 maybe they were on some sort of hormonal tablets that made them angry like that who knows ??

Roussette · 08/01/2022 16:43

I'm more shocked that a woman would compromise her four childrens' lives for someone she'd known for a very short time. I know some womren just cannot be without a man for even five minutes... OK, there are people like that
But to put your kids lives on the line for a man is abhorrent.
Because in the end, any of those kids could've been killed if he lost his temper.

RedHot22
The crib and surrounding area in the bedroom was shown in the programme and it's quite distinctive looking.
The picture of it for sale was situated in the same bedroom before she moved.

SunshineCake1 · 08/01/2022 18:48

I think it was pretty obvious from his YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME shout that he was guilty and her actions towards Kane were also very telling. Anyone who believed he was genuinely worried about the baby must be lacking in something. His only concern was for himself.

I’m speechless Sad
CrumpledCrumpet · 08/01/2022 18:57

@roolz

If those emotions were real, there would've been tears, maybe even streaming from the noise given how 'upset' he appeared

He covered his face because there were no tears. He suspected already (hence the vicious jealous ness, aggression) and resented the baby

The police themselves said he seemed “very genuine” in his first interview and terminated the second because he was so upset. They’re the experts, they saw him for hours not just a few edited minutes - I think they could tell whether it was crocodile tears or not.

I think people sometimes feel the need to cast murderers as a wholly evil, incapable of normal human emotion. There is absolutely no excusing what he did to that poor poor baby, but that doesn’t mean he was incapable of feeling emotion about Teddie.

CrumpledCrumpet · 08/01/2022 18:59

As for speculating that he is trans - don’t be so ridiculous.

lollipoprainbow · 08/01/2022 18:59

@CrumpledCrumpet why is that ridiculous ?!

DillDanding · 08/01/2022 19:13

I thought the trans speculation was ridiculous too.

Based on his occasional effeminate voice and neck beard?

roolz · 08/01/2022 19:29

I heard them say he was very upset etc., yes, and I genuinely think it was just a passing comment, sarcastic almost.

They cant be biased and insist he's guilty. So she just described what she saw, if that makes sense.

SunshineCake1 · 08/01/2022 20:16

The police can hardly take the piss and say stop faking.

ineedsun · 08/01/2022 20:30

Exactly- they have to play things a certain way

Bellagio40 · 09/01/2022 00:57

I wish they had just left him by the side of the road after he was knocked down. He didn’t deserve help.

"I BEG your fucking PARDON?" Over and over. I have to say me and DH found him unintentionally funny despite the incredibly dark situation because he was SUCH a bellend. Like a sociopathic Alan Partridge.
CrumpledCrumpet · 09/01/2022 09:32
@CrumpledCrumpet why is that ridiculous ?!
There’s absolutely nothing in the documentary to suggest there wasn’t a possibility (even if not a probability) that he was Teddie’s biological father. Which obviously wouldn’t be the case had he been trans. It’s an absurd suggestion.

And I still completely don’t buy that he was faking his reaction to finding out he wasn’t the biological father. That was and Oscar winning performance if it was faking - I’ve watched it back and you can see how he physically crumples at that moment. It doesn’t change anything about his guilt of how abhorrent a character he was. It doesn’t mean he didn’t potentially have doubts that could have driven some of his anger, we don’t know. But I don’t think that needs to exist a motive - he was clearly someone with serious problems controlling anger and could easily have been provoked by the typical frustrations of looking after a baby.

lollipoprainbow · 09/01/2022 09:47

@CrumpledCrumpet maybe that wasn't a line the police were going down.

Toddlerteaplease · 09/01/2022 11:49

Only on mumsnet will people immediately assume someone is trans, just because they look slightly effeminate!

lollipoprainbow · 09/01/2022 11:59

@Toddlerteaplease it was more the way he sounded than looked.

GreetingsAndSalutations · 09/01/2022 15:22

He is so fucking vile. I agree with virtually everyone else that the tears at the hospital weren’t real. The more he screamed “I beg your fucking pardon” the less genuine he seemed. I actually cringed. He reminded me a lot of my (abusive) ex- thick as shit but so fucking sure of himself that he’s in the right. I think he did know he wasn’t Teddie’s biological father already- they both knew that. They were “upset” that other people knew that too maybe? His sentence was way too short for what he did- which was abuse a baby over a period of time and ultimately murder him.

The mother… Seemed detached rather than evil or even “bad”. Not uncommon with someone who’s been the victim of DV unfortunately to massively downplay abuse towards themselves. It’s heartbreaking when they do the same with their children though, especially when one, a tiny baby, dies of severe injuries over the course of basically all of his short life.

I’m surprised the social media accounts are not locked down or deactivated. I don’t judge Teddie’s grandfather for defending his daughter, he’s her dad after all. I feel so sorry for Teddie’s siblings, grandparents and everyone else who knew him, loved him and misses him.

Toddlerteaplease · 09/01/2022 16:42

There u is a a change org. Petition going round to get Lucci a tougher sentence. I doubt it will make any difference.
