Is anyone going to be watching? I absolutely love it despite only ever having one go at throwing a pot at school, forgetting to take my foot off the pedal and watching as the clay shot off the wheel into the adjoining open-plan science area. Looking forward to the new host too as I felt the last one made it a bit like a vehicle for her stand-up comedy routine.

I liked the octopus. The bulb size didn’t do it much favours either.

I think he went because there wasn’t as much (hardly any) sgraffito. Shame really.

AJ is still my winner. Well, her or Jenny.

nettytree · 15/02/2022 12:49

I like aj to win. But get rid of the headphones please.

Maireas · 15/02/2022 12:50

Yes, I think AJ always manages to include character and charm - I loved their dinosaur set and the gnomes! A modest person, too. Christine seems to be getting better and more confident, some of her work is lovely, but it's a bit inconsistent.

Maireas · 15/02/2022 12:51

ps Sheldon - I hope you're feeling much better now! x

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 15/02/2022 13:01

I’m getting there thankee maireas

Still a puffing Billy Sheldon though. X

Sea otters are my favourite animal too and i'd be moving a bit further north if they were available for viewing around Aberdeen! Many years ago husband found an otter collapsed (but looked uninjured) in the road when he was driving home from hill walking in the highlands. He picked it up in his jacket and popped it in the car to take somewhere but it woke up and got loose and ended up running around the car! Luckily someone in the next village knew of a nearby rescue place to take it to so he headed up there but think at that point it had mostly recovered from whatever had happened to it and the chap said he'd keep it overnight to check it was okay and take it back to where my husband had found it. We still have a photo somewhere of it sitting in the footwell of the car :)

I prefer Ellie too, i don't hate Siobhan but she doesn't really fit the show. She had just about got the hang of it by the end of the last series and I feel we are back to square one again whereas Ellie just seemed to fit in and bring a natural warmth.

I didn't particularly warm to Tom and not to Christine either, as a person i like Jenny the best but i don't mind any of the others.

Just caught up. Going against the grain here as I'm delighted to see Tom go. Disliked his personality so much. Last few weeks ive felt annoyed if his work was good 😆.

That aside it had to be him this week. His pots with the 100 tonnes of clay weren't very creative! AJs jugs were super.

Loved so many of the lamps - definite something appealing about the unique ones compared to the mass produced ones isn't there.

Crocodile, badger and otter were amazing.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/02/2022 20:50

@Unescorted

Angler fish for me .. love the concept. The bulb gas a reason to be there. The others are contrived.
Agree with this - and next to the angler fish I like the octopus
SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/02/2022 20:53

@iklboo

I didn't like Anna's story. It wasn't funny - but, yeah, that's nature.

I loved AJ's otter - it looked like it had been caught doing something it shouldn't.

DH , like MIL, gets words mixed up. He came in tonight & asked what time Frottery Hoedown was on. It's never being called anything else again.

I didn't like it either.

Frankly, if I had puppies and there was a crocodile infested river close by, I'd keep them in. And if one disappeared, I'd DEFINITELY keep the other in.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 17/02/2022 01:54

I agree schadey

It isn’t nature.

But yeah Anna - blame it on your other dog….

Your fault. Just yours.

Horrible woman.

lollipoprainbow · 17/02/2022 07:26

Wish Anna had gone instead of Tom she makes some really ugly things !!

JuergenSchwarzwald · 18/02/2022 21:48

I thought Anna made up that story.

Loved AJ's sea otter although Jenny's fish was very clever.

Thank you, I was just going to post the same thing and thought I was being mean. I'm not sure that I believe her stories at all. She seems to have one for every ocassion and I was giving her the benfit of the doubt until that last one.

I don't usually judge on personality and am happy for the most talented to stay, but I won't be sad if she goes home this week.

Saucery · 20/02/2022 12:53

Finally caught up last night. Was a bit underwhelmed by them all, but it was the concept rather than the execution. Only the Angler Fish fitted the lamp brief and I was surprised it didn’t win. Perhaps it was the wildlife juggling with lightbulbs that I didn’t like.
Love AJ’s style and the Otter had it in abundance, but if the judges were going to criticise Christine’s Polar Bear for not being ‘realistic’ then I can’t see that the Otter was any more realistic.

Glad I’m not alone in my dislike of Anna’s horrible stories about cruelty to animals. Can see how the Fox one in the first episode could be just how farmers deal with predatory pests, but letting crocodiles kill two puppies? No. Not cute, not amusing.
I try not to let my dislike of her as a person colour how I see her work, but much of it looks scrappy and slapdash at the glaze stage imo and I don’t know why she is still in the running.

I did like the challenge task, it made all of them have to put a lot of thought in, rather than ‘just’ learn or copy a new skill.

Will miss Ellie, Siobhan’s return felt a bit flat, somehow.

Wolfcub · 20/02/2022 19:47

Evening all

Piggywaspushed · 20/02/2022 19:54

This challenge is a bit odd.

Jellykat · 20/02/2022 19:58

Ceramic therapy

Saucery · 20/02/2022 20:00

Wow, I want to say it’s a female-centred challenge but with respect to AJ I will say it is a challenge with no overt male voices.

Very, very personal for them. Touched by Christine using her experience in particular.

Bagadverts · 20/02/2022 20:00

Evening - not keen on the task this week, fine if a potter chose that but seems quite intrusive.

Saucery · 20/02/2022 20:00

Ceramic therapy
Yes!
Wolfcub · 20/02/2022 20:01

Christine's looks like a winner to me

TheSpottedZebra · 20/02/2022 20:02

Dammit missed the beginning Sad

hattie43 · 20/02/2022 20:03

The potters are so talented .

cheeseisthebest · 20/02/2022 20:04

What is the challenge please and where is ellie? Have they just totally got rid of her? Seems unfair?
