So sad, one of the young men came from where I live. Terrible waste of life.

I know it might sound stupid saying this given the subject matter
But is this a really depressing traumatic watch?
As I don't think they always are all depressing and traumatic despite the subject matter as it depends how it's done but if it is I'll just avoid it

So far you haven't seen anything violent, just the lead up, the body (not graphic) and family/friends afterwards. The police showing as very incompetent.

Ok perhaps it'll be ok to watch

There was a Silent Witness episode that very much mirrored this .

I am watching all the old series of Silent Witness, right from series 1. It is chilling how the same things are happening today. Nothing seems to have changed. WRT the 4 lives programme, IME the Met Police have learned nothing from recent events. They are as incompetent, misogynistic and homophobic as ever. In spite of spending tax payers money on rainbow cars and flags etc.

I think had this been a 'drama' without the reality behind it, people would find it hard to believe that this could happen (as in Port not being caught straight away, let alone everything else).

It's heartbreaking

Will wait for the TV pace but just stayed up and watched all. I shed a tear and feel wired and angry.

Assuming what we have seen so far is accurate - and I imagine they've been pretty careful about it - it really is extraordinary that the police didn't make the connection even between the first two murders. Two gay young men both found dead in an unnatural seated position, both very close to Port's house, he admitted to having been with one when he died and the other had been living with him. Apparently if they'd bothered to search his flat they'd have found evidence of his interest in male rape. And the police refusal to admit a connection continued even after the third victim was found in similar circumstances. It's really horrifying to think how easily Port could have continue to get away with his crimes, and how many other criminals could still be getting away with it if this is in any way representative of normal standards of investigation.

It’s interesting to see that both ITV & BBC are showing drama series this week that show the police to be so bloody incompetent, uncaring, appalling, deceitful and incredibly stupid!

What absolutely terrible policing :( just finished this and feel so sad for the young men and their families

The public should be protected from the police because it seems that they are racist , homophobic and misogynistic.
I used to have respect for them when I was very little and the community officer would drop into our school for a chat , but these days I would be a lot more wary of anything they said or do
They have many investigations and ' lessons will be learnt ' is trotted out but like so many public organizations they continue to mess up and let people down time and again :(

Makes you wonder if he wasn’t gay would the police have treated the crime differently

Tho obv the fact they are gay is why they got killed

But yes 2 deaths /murders close together why didn’t the police cotton on /do more

The FLO Person should have gone up to see Anthony's mum and dad at the very least. So cruel to just leave them to deal with his death on the phone.
This is a fairly recent case too , so lessons are never learnt are they ?

It still happens.
I was fortunate (if you can call it that) because the police came to my door to tell me my son was dead. They were very kind. But a couple of other other parents in my support group were just phoned in the middle of the night and told over the phone. No sensitivity at all. And the victim blaming is awful.

I am sorry 💐 that is so sad.

When my sil died over five years ago she lived 100 miles from her then next of kin ( my late fil ) and they had to get the local police force to where he lived to go and see him and tell him the news.
The policeman said that they could never give bad news like that over the phone.
Why they did this to Sarah I don't know ?
They were only in Hull or they could have done the same too ?
They just didn't care , obviously.

No spoilers - it's a true story and the outcome of the enquiry was just before Christmas.

This was filmed in 2019 and not shown until now to await the inquiry outcome as kt was a Jury inquest.

I don't recall anything about the lad from my area at the time, hit the news end of last year when his bf spoke about not being listened to because he was gay.
