Does anyone else watch this show?

I love it, but nobody seems to know about it! Sad

I have a question: Where does one find a man like Miguel? He's so lovely!

When I met my now husband he was from a different country. He was on holiday where I'm from. We had a long distance relationship. I was sick about 6 months into the relationship and had to go to hospital for a while. While I was in hospital he just showed up by my side. He took 2 weeks off work and flew over. He visited me everyday while I was in hospital. I fell in love with him at that time. It is 24 years on and he is still as lovely. I am not saying he is an angel and neither am I but he really is one of the best things that has ever happened in my life. I just got lucky.

I’d like to see Cassidy get a happy ending, in terms of loose ends.

RichardsGear · 06/05/2022 18:01

Oh my God, cried buckets over Miguel. That one and William's death episode have been my proper snot fests of the whole shebang. And, a HUGE plus point - no frigging Toby!!! 😂

OutlookStalking · 06/05/2022 18:19

Wow beautiful 😢

"Nobody could ever replace him and they were all emotionally stunted at the point they lost Jack."

I think that that is the salient point, because they were all actually adults, all left home & Randall was a father!

It's not as if they would even be living with Miguel, let alone him parenting them in any way!

Hmm I thought they were all about 17?

Gaspingandleaping · 06/05/2022 19:47

No I think the pp meant that Jack died LOOOOONNNG before Miguel and Rebecca got together.

RoofFlower · 06/05/2022 21:28

What was that lovely song at the end? Sounded like Rufus wainwright,

Billy Joel - And So It Goes.

Thank you.

Miguel and Rebecca got together after Tess was born, when the three are in their twenties. We then meet them in series one in their mid-30s when they are still being pricks to him.

By the time he’s caring for Rebecca full time and they start treating him decently, it’s Kate’s second wedding, so a good decade or so again on. I’m hazy on how much time has passed there. But he walks her down the aisle at that wedding and not her first.

But they take a very long time to be kind to him.

I had high hopes for this episode after the comments on here and I did like it but it felt sketched, a bit rushed. Hard to compress a life into 40 minutes.

Agree that the "kids" were totally unreasonable. In their 20s ffs and sitting M and R down like teenagers to tell them off. Why couldn't they be happy for them? I wouldn't want my mum on her own. I could understand if it had been a year or two after Jack's death but thought they were very unreasonable.

Moving when R kissed M in the restaurant when he was babbling after they met up.

Doodledoop · 07/05/2022 14:00

I was really happy with that episode. (cried obvs!) but whilst i've found most of this series meh, thought this did right by Miguel. Yes it was rushed, yes we should have seen more of him throughout the series. In the end they gave him depth, nobility and his family back. Respect the Miguel

They finally did Miguel justice, but I now also feel robbed that we won't see him anymore.

Completely agree with you. Rebecca kissing Miguel was very moving. So much so that it made me cry. It was almost like she was thinking life is too short. Miguel saying he never felt homesick until he left her on the porch, crikey I was a complete mess after that.

Veralil · 07/05/2022 20:50

I was sure it was Rufus Wainright singing too.

RedMake88 · 07/05/2022 20:54

Rebecca makes a comment it’s been over 10 years and Miguel moved away too! It might have happened sooner if he didn’t.

DesignerRecliner · 07/05/2022 21:25

I've found my people. I haven't ugly-cried at TV like that in yonks, the last time was Tony Stark at the end of End Game.

This episode was beautiful but should've been spread over 2-3 eps, especially Miguel's son coming back into the fold - it felt a bit rushed. But overall, it was poignant and moving.

My DH is a Miguel, quiet, stoic and reliable, and I had to go and give him a massive squeeze after watching this ep

Definitely .

What a beautiful song. Never heard it before.

It is so so beautiful. Terribly sad though - I could never actually sing along to it for choking up Blush. Now Miguel's story is tangled up with it in my mind, I can't even listen to it without crying.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/05/2022 07:37

New thread here as this is almost full

hope that’s ok as couldn’t see a new one

can’t believe it’s almost the end

I was referring to when they walked in on Miguel & Rebecca kissing.

They were also adults when M&R actually got together weren't they?

Ah, sorry! Yes, all very grown.

Ah, sorry! Yes, all very grown.

I'm not sure that I made it clear in my post though when I meant re Rebecca & Miguel!

diddl · 08/05/2022 14:11

I'm certainly hoping for no more Jack!

Be gutted for Miguel if that's who she's thinking of towards the end!
