Does anyone else watch this show?

I love it, but nobody seems to know about it! Sad

Favourite character and actor. Favourite episode of season by far. Glad they did justice to Miguel in the end. RIP Miguel ❤️

ChuckBerrysBoots · 05/05/2022 22:56

Lovely episode. I’m not convinced we’re meant to like the Big 3 all that much. The show does a good job of making characters three dimensional I think.

EasterIssland · 05/05/2022 23:51

What a lovely episode. Glad Rebecca had him for a long time In her life.

Shmithecat2 · 06/05/2022 02:00

Beautiful episode, possibly one of the best of all the seasons. Left me broken hearted.

That was such a lovely episode. I'm a complete mess.

Do we think the rest of the episodes will stay in one time frame and it will be the time frame from the end of the Miguel episode?

I think so. The preview for next week stays in that timeline, picking up after Miguel died

and i saw a video from jon huertas (the actor) saying goodbye to everyone and what a pleasure had been working for TIU. I'm so upset today and only seen someone i follow in ig has lost her grandad today , just a month after she lost the nan and makes me think about miguel and rebecca...

BackflandedCondiment · 06/05/2022 08:43

Honestly, I feel like the series could end here. Everyone seems wrapped up and it seems so fitting that a family story that constantly sidelined Miguel ends with him and ends with him showing everyone else just what it REALLY means to love someone. He wasn't a showman (Jack), didn't just throw money at the problem (Randall), didn't make it all about him (Kate) and didn't allow his guilt of past behaviour to be a blocker to doing the right thing now (Kev).

Seems perfect, to me.

Tormenteddd · 06/05/2022 09:25

Miguel ❤️

My all time favourite episode.

ChuckBerrysBoots · 06/05/2022 09:51

It would be a good place to end, wouldn’t it. I think we’ll end with Rebecca’s death. Also, they’ve relied on Miguel to do everything for years, so I’m interested to see who now steps in to pick up the slack up to her final days

@Iwantacatnotcovid I think we need to start a new thread for the final episodes? Do you want to do the honours? 🥰

as far i saw in the promo video, it seems like that's what they'll focus on

Hmmmm. When we first met the Pearson kids in the Rebecca and Miguel timeline they were fucking awful to him and they were adults. How come all of a sudden they love him?
Still loved the episode and will watch again when my teens aren't pestering me!

HE let THEM off the hook that should say

Well, we're a decade or so in the future from the first episodes aren't we? So not all of a sudden.

They'd literally walked in on their mum snogging their dead dads best mate, I imagine the reaction was just from the shock of it

I loved the episode but didn't cry at all which is not usual for me watching TIU. I'm almost a bit disappointed I didn't have a big sob fest 🤣

Figgygal · 06/05/2022 12:27

Aw lord did i cry

WitchSharkadder · 06/05/2022 14:05

Just watched. Absolutely loved the episode too and so please Miguel finally got his moment.

I also thought his death was really well done. I was kind of waiting for (but hoping they wouldn't) a big dramatic heart attack through the episode or something. But it was really understated and reflective of Miguel's character that there was just a brief, simple scene of everyone mourning him.

I do agree that the siblings were awful to him at first but last nights ep must be 12 or so years on from the first ever episode. While I'm not saying that K, K & R had grounds to be awful to him back then, I think it's true to life that over time they have become more accepting of him. They've seen him stand steadfastly by their mums side through an awful diagnosis, take care of her every need, work at building a relationship with each of them and their families and never give up even when he must've been sick to the back teeth with their hostility. Also, I do think (generally) we mellow to people as they age, he obviously needed a lot of support too in his last years and they were his surrogate family.

Equally looking forward to a dreading the last few episodes now. Bittersweet.

SynchOrSwim · 06/05/2022 14:14

What do you all think will happen in the last 3 episodes? I think we're all assuming Rebecca's death but what other loose ends haven't been tied up? Do you think there will be any last minute surprises in store?

Do they need to mention/show Kevin and Sophie's wedding or is the assumption enough? Next episodes are Family Meeting, The Train and Us.

I'm going to be made to cry by a train aren't I?

Will there be a lot of flashes forward to the grandkids lives? I think we know Tess is a social worker and Jack is a musician but do we know anything about the others? I can't remember.

The scene in season two where we thought B&R we're going to adopt a little boy but it turned out to be future Tess as a social worker randomly made me cry more than any other scene in the show so I'd love to see some poignancy in what the others end up doing with their lives.

I have a question: Where does one find a man like Miguel? He's so lovely!

Yes!! I always thought I wanted a Jack but actually I think I want Miguel. Made me cry so hard as there is dementia in my family history and I always thought my (now X) DP would be just like Miguel, but now I’m facing getting old, and whatever that brings, alone. 😭I love This Is Us but my god it’s hard to watch sometimes.

Indeed - and their attitude to Miguel is actually very realistic for step kids, especially given that their dad had died being heroic, and was therefore ‘sainted’ in their minds. Nobody could ever replace him and they were all emotionally stunted at the point they lost Jack.

TheGlitterati · 06/05/2022 14:31

I loved it, my did I sob! Such a good episode.

diddl · 06/05/2022 14:43

"Nobody could ever replace him and they were all emotionally stunted at the point they lost Jack."

I think that that is the salient point, because they were all actually adults, all left home & Randall was a father!

It's not as if they would even be living with Miguel, let alone him parenting them in any way!

Deja is a doctor, and pregnant. We don't know who the father of the baby is.
