I love Esme - her dancing was fab.

StevieNicksscarf · 30/12/2021 22:02

Well never expected to see Patrick dressed as a bottle of wine! Not sure what to say really...Confused

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/12/2021 22:03

Worthy winner!

I liked all of these celebrities. Makes a change - I'm a critical old bat and can usually find something to moan about.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/12/2021 22:05

Pottery Throw Down will be on our screens soon, too!

Hurrah!!!

fireplacetiles · 30/12/2021 22:10

Sara Pascoe ruined one of my favourite shows she is a fatphobic bully and shouldn't be on our screens at allAngry

Totally agree!

We said much the same in our house.

Come back Joe!

Joolsin · 31/12/2021 00:08

Why does it seem that every programme has to have a drag queen these days.

Piggywaspushed · 31/12/2021 08:00

Because it was a celebrity edition and lots of people watched and enjoyed Drag Race? I never watched it but am happy to acknowledge that it's a popular show. I thought Lawrence was good fun as it goes and his sewing was great so he deserved to be on the who : presumably someone knew he liked sewing. I imagine lots of drag acts sew as they must have to make and alter clothing.

AnInspectorBores · 31/12/2021 08:31

I have never encountered Sara Pascoe before and have no desire to do so again. Joe was a fantastic host and I'm really sorry that he's left Sad

lollipoprainbow · 31/12/2021 08:42

Wanted to watch but didn't as I loved joe on it! I wonder why he left.

SoupDragon · 31/12/2021 09:02

@Joolsin

Why does it seem that every programme has to have a drag queen these days.
Why does every programme have a poster from the past, an obscure comedian, a retired sports person.... etc etc. It's how these sorts of shows have always been populated - with a broad spectrum of people so that viewers are likely to have heard of or be interested in at least one of them.

I think he's doing Travel Man. I really enjoyed that episode he did with Bill Bailey.

Indeed. I thought he/she did well overall

A fatphobic bully? What did she do/say, please?
Maireas · 31/12/2021 13:09

Patrick and Esme are on the Weakest Link tonight. Don't know if he'll be in his kilt.

SoupDragon · 31/12/2021 13:13

I typed popstar but autocorrect thought it knew better 🙄

Thing is, Joe was also reviled for some comments he'd made in the past.
SheldonesqueTheBstard · 31/12/2021 15:51

Disappointing.

And sadly I have to agree about the drag queen.

Yes it is celebrity. Yes Drag Race is popular. But two years in a row?

Yes representation/diversity is important. Shoving stuff down throats for the sake of a box tick does not make me happy.

No offence to the drag queens - both of them seem like fun fabulous people. But if I really wanted to watch drag queens, I would watch drag race. (I don’t)

And I can’t warm to Ms P.

I’m sure she is lovely too.

But not right. Not for here.

It is like a Christmas pudding which has a purée of chicken liver as a melting middle.

Probably separately.

Just not together.

I’m still hoping that the BBC can bag out (see what I did there) Liza Tarbuck for the series proper.

Hintyhinthinthinthint

Right winner.

Pat in a kilt made it better. That and the use of Right Said Fred’s Deeply Dippy for Rose’s fondue frock.

And I would drink from the vessel of Chateau Neuf du Pat.

Though that is probably too much information.

Maireas · 31/12/2021 17:15

Chateau Neuf du Pat Grin
Brilliant! (Naughty Sheldon!)

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 31/12/2021 17:48

That wasn’t me my friend! It was on his little bottle!!

Unless of course I’m off my mince on the remnants of a fairly sozzled Christmas pud!

I still would though! Just saying! ☺️

Maireas · 31/12/2021 17:50

Ah! I didn't spot that!
Nice kilt outfit, though...Star

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 31/12/2021 17:54

I was a wee bit smitten. I’ll not lie 😍

Stellaris22 · 31/12/2021 18:13

I'm not sure that one contestant on a celebrity edition of a show is 'shoving it down our throats'. There are contestants on other celebrity editions of shows I've watched that I've never heard of, I wouldn't say the show was forcing something on me.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 31/12/2021 18:25

Not in the big scheme of things no.

But two episodes out of four Christmas Sewing ones? It feels a little like that for me.

Each to their own.
