I’m three episodes in, and I’m like “meh”
Not very funny and depressing…
Hate all the “box ticking “ it’s overtaking the show
Charlottes daughter can’t just be a tom boy ( which in itself would be funny ) she has to be -whatever they were saying? Transgender?
3 min “comedy sketch” about being Bi….?
Charlotte and Stanford don’t like each other?
Big wanking ..( eew)
Steve just going “eh? What?”
Carrie totally ignoring Charlottes warning about Miranda’s drinking?
Miranda’s Prof saying she was a White Saviour when trying to point out to the guard he was being unreasonable?
Everyone mentioning their age every scene?
Why would Carrie be putting herself through the embarrassment of a vulgar podcast when she’s clearly retired writing and married to a millionaire?

I’m debating whether to just imagine them, all running home from the desert where my imagination left left after SATC2 …

@WaltzingBetty

Why are they all still wearing ludicrous heels? Are heels still a thing?
Throughout my work environment, yes. They’ve never gone away. Ditto when I see people on a night out or out for dinner.
DillDanding · 26/12/2021 11:08

I agree to vertiginous heels thing now seems incredibly dated.

Plus the future storyline klaxons.

Andylion · 26/12/2021 16:53

I also don’t think she’d be putting up with loud sex, rude remarks and snarky comments from Brady and his girlfriend in her own home.

I really hope that Miranda snaps back to her old self and tells them off before the season is over.

Andylion · 26/12/2021 16:55

@DifferentHair

The Stanford thing was handled so badly. I've read some interviews with the cast and producer, and the amount of thought they claim to have put into it makes it worse somehow.

The actor and his family deserved more than that.

I was hoping it was a private joke between the actor and SJP.
Dancingonmoonlight · 26/12/2021 16:57

I’m enjoying it. I love the fashion. My expectations were low because of the terrible movies but I’m enjoying the new series.

FanGirlX · 26/12/2021 17:00

Benjispruce5 · 26/12/2021 17:05

FanGirlX · 26/12/2021 20:16

Yeah, Charlotte's mouth 😂

WaltzingBetty · 26/12/2021 20:27

Also on now tv

sherryoclock · 27/12/2021 07:35

I wonder why Big was
Killed off? Did Chris Noth want out or did the producers want him out?

LadyGAgain · 27/12/2021 08:07

Maybe I've totally missed the point. I've assumed/come to the conclusion that AJLT is pointing out/calling out how ridiculously woke the current state of the world is and how unnatural it is for a certain generation (Carrie et al) to attempt to navigate this current state of woke. By having so much blatant woke all together on the screen in one programme they are calling out the extremism without saying that - showing Miranda and Charlotte and Carrie attempting to slot into this whole world and in portraying how easy it is to miss the mark, get it wrong, tiptoe around etc. 🤷🏻‍♀️

LadyGAgain · 27/12/2021 08:08

*slot into this woke world

Newgirls · 27/12/2021 09:35

I agree! I think the point is to show how tacky some of the woke podcast is. I’m sure Carrie will find her own way later in the series. People are far too quick to judge

TheRemotePart · 27/12/2021 09:59

So we’re all watching it : not for the fashion, humour or relationships ? But merely to show how ridiculous youth is? Naaaaaaah….

LadyGAgain · 27/12/2021 10:19

No, that's not why we're watching it. But it is the angle the show is taking IMO. And it's become much more watchable when I have that take on it in the back of my mind. Otherwise it's not that palatable.

DaggerIsle · 27/12/2021 11:10

I think they're embracing woke, not satirising it

LadyGAgain · 27/12/2021 12:10

That's interesting @DaggerIsle . Maybe they wanted us to be having these opposing views Grin

southeastdweller · 27/12/2021 12:15

I don't think the writers are clever enough for satire. No, the show was criticised for years for its lack of diversity, which I never understood, so they had to go the other way for this reboot. Too much the other way. I think the BLM movement was also something the writers had in mind.

DaggerIsle · 27/12/2021 12:41

I agree they went the other way 100% which makes it jarring.
I understand there are issues that are current/rising now that weren't on the radar back when the series started but good writing is about balance and seamless story-telling/ character development.
It shouldn't be heavy-handed and box ticking.
Seema for instance is a good new character. She's sexy and glamorous but also well-rounded. Her ethnicity is not the point or the issue- the character is.

Appalonia · 27/12/2021 13:08

I don't have the channels to watch this so I'm really enjoying reading your accounts of how the show is going. It does sound pretty dire tbh!

hopeishere · 27/12/2021 14:25

The stand up scene was excruciating. Miranda is awful. She was always really strong.

Bits of it are ok but it's just trying too hard.

Missushbb · 27/12/2021 15:52

i am enjoying it, but i had to skip the stand up scene. it was awful. Che is not in the least bit funny!

PodcastFunFair · 27/12/2021 19:24

Yy to the stand up scene so awkward painfully so
Cringe x1000000

Shallwegoforawalk · 27/12/2021 20:44

Another huge Miranda fan here who is very annoyed at the way they have changed her. Painful. Truly hoping the "real" Miranda is allowed to come back full force very soon!
