I’m three episodes in, and I’m like “meh”
Not very funny and depressing…
Hate all the “box ticking “ it’s overtaking the show
Charlottes daughter can’t just be a tom boy ( which in itself would be funny ) she has to be -whatever they were saying? Transgender?
3 min “comedy sketch” about being Bi….?
Charlotte and Stanford don’t like each other?
Big wanking ..( eew)
Steve just going “eh? What?”
Carrie totally ignoring Charlottes warning about Miranda’s drinking?
Miranda’s Prof saying she was a White Saviour when trying to point out to the guard he was being unreasonable?
Everyone mentioning their age every scene?
Why would Carrie be putting herself through the embarrassment of a vulgar podcast when she’s clearly retired writing and married to a millionaire?

I’m debating whether to just imagine them, all running home from the desert where my imagination left left after SATC2 …

@Benjispruce5

I’m enjoy it. Only discovered it on Sunday and watched all 3. Just really nice to revisit the characters and I’m glad Samantha is gone, I was always a bit of a prude when it came to her ‘adventures’ Blush. It’s just nice to have those characters back but older. I was 30 and now I’m 50 so it’s a like visiting old friends. Charlotte looks great.
I agree - I think Charlotte looks great too. She's still beautiful. And it does feel like visiting old friends...I was around the same age as them when SATC came on the scene.

Have to say, not too fond of Carrie's new friend, the estate agent. Feels like a poor substitute for Samantha. Feels a bit forced.

@Missey85

Its trying to hard to be woke! The original was a escape from all that the new show is to preachy its also not the same without Samantha
I don't think it's trying to be woke at all....I think it's discussing 'wokeness' in an impartial way ....it doesn't seem to be judging anyone, but just reflecting modern society.
LittleBearPad · 28/01/2022 18:27

They also completely missed out what they said to Brady about her new situation.

Yes but he’s clearly not happy about it judging by last night’s episode. The point was well made.

Yeah he made it very clear which parent he felt more comfortable with...and Miranda didn't even seem to realise.

I think the three main characters are too uncomfortable in modern society. It’s as though they regressed.

@LondonWolf

Miranda/Cynthia is fast nudging this show towards being impossible to watch. I fast forward through her scenes.
I totally agree!
LondonWolf · 28/01/2022 23:07

Steve was lovely in this episode. Imagine finding a lovely loyal, attractive, physically fit man like that in your 50s? Unlikely. Sadly I don't think Miranda will see the error of her ways though.

southeastdweller · 28/01/2022 23:28

Yes I agree. The character would fit in much better if she was a lot less like Samantha.

Apart from the Steve scenes, I thought this weeks episode was awful. I was cringing myself inside out with the period stuff and I'm ready for the series to end next week.

Socialcarenope · 29/01/2022 11:11

Yeah, they skipped a huge chunk this episode....

Mennex · 29/01/2022 12:24

I actually went back and checked that I hadn't missed an episode! I was expecting to see Miarnda arrive wherever Che was to find her with someone else.

Purpleraspberry · 29/01/2022 13:20

As much as I too was expecting Miranda to arrive in Cleveland to find Che with someone else, maybe it would be too predictable to do that so they are going to stretch it out a bit

There has already been 3 obvious hints that Miranda isn't going to get what she wants from Che: the first time after Miranda left Steve and Che told her she'd not get anything conventional with her; in recrnt episode Che visibly winced in the restaurant when Miranda introduced herself to the 2 girls as the girlfriend; and then later in the episode, Che said she isn't her girlfriend when she turned up with the cookies. This could all be the prelude to it all blowing up.

That said, given the motivation behind the storyline from Cynthia Nixon, that it's all about Miranda 'finding herself', I do question if Miranda will have a 'what have I done moment' too.

ABitOfAShitShow · 29/01/2022 13:23

I can’t believe some of you don’t like Seema! I want to be her when I grow up. (Not really joking. 😂)

Agree about it being weird that Cleveland was jumped and I was bored to tears by the tampon stuff. And Lily is irritating as fuck (though I was in awe of the piano playing earlier). Nobody showed me how to use a tampon - and I don’t feel like I needed them to! My mother would have told me to get a grip.

Can’t believe we’re supposed to overlook that it’s Tony from Prada! Couldn’t they have kept him Tony but he’s just a fancy club owner now?!

readwritelove · 29/01/2022 16:20

I am beginning to find Miranda’s rictus gibbering and high-pitched simpering intolerable now!

Andylion · 29/01/2022 17:05

If Che wasn’t happy about Miranda showing up at their apartment in NYC, how they heck did they react when Miranda showed up in Cleveland? We’ll never know. No follow through on that “I’m in a rom com” makes this bad storytelling. Although maybe it’s better that we didn’t have to see it.

rc22 · 29/01/2022 17:51

I found it odd that in earlier episodes they had made Steve seem very old before his time and quite unattractive. Yet, in the latest episode, he seemed like his younger self again. Bright, capable and attractive.

Also the tampon thing was rather silly. The first time I used one I followed the instructions on the packet and just sort of muddled through!

SantaClawsServiette · 29/01/2022 19:30

Yeah, I remember my mum asking me if I had any trouble with the instructions, but that was about it.

Fedupsotired · 30/01/2022 00:18

@LoveMae

So many people saying they're hate watching! Why... surely just watch something you like?

After not liking the first few episodes I'm so into it now!

That's exactly me! Struggled initially but liking it now. How many episodes have been made?
Fedupsotired · 30/01/2022 00:19

I struggled for ages, just couldn't work it out!!
Fedupsotired · 30/01/2022 00:20

Just googled and think there is one for (10 in total)

RuminatingAgain · 30/01/2022 09:37

The tampon thing was so cringey and ridiculous, and also bordering on the voyeuristic? I can imagine some perverts would get off on it. I wish Charlotte had just suggested Lily take norethisterone to delay her period for the pool party - it's available without prescription!

JanisMoplin · 30/01/2022 09:50

Indeed. I went back to see if I had missed the Cleveland meeting, but I hadn't. The storytelling is so choppy.

I have to admit I laughed at Seema's line "It's hard to be white these days". Summed up the discomfort and cringy awkwardness of the 3 main characters everytime they meet a brown or black person, falling over themselves to not give offence. I can't believe they are New Yorkers; they seem like they have just woken from a deep sleep in the Catskill Mountains like Rip Van Winkle.

NewYearNewMinty · 30/01/2022 10:43

Watched last night.

Is it me or was Harry actually looking more ropey in the latest episode? Wonder if some medical drama is coming in the next one.

Miranda really can't read the room as far as Che is concerned. Tbf to Chr I'd be pissed off if I was in the zone writing and someone I'd been seeing for 5 minutes rocked up, but Che was pretty good about it, it was Miranda that had to make everything a drama which seems to be her default setting atm.

Loved the friendship between Carrie, Steve and Brady and her dilemma with her wedding ring. Thought that was really well done.

As for Charlotte...I will say it again...why is anyone still friends with her?!

vjg13 · 30/01/2022 10:46

I really like Seema, the only new character in it that I do.

LemonCake79 · 30/01/2022 14:29

Che's treatment of Miranda is a reversal of how she was with men. Remember Carrie's friend Skipper and then Steve?

I'm disappointed with Miranda as a student. It feels like a missed opportunity to present a woman at the pinnacle of her career in a still very male industry and how that can look and feel. Her walking away from her partnership and corporate law is a cop out as was the ease with which she stopped drinking.

RhythmOfTheLight · 30/01/2022 17:28

A lot has been covered in 10 episodes. It's felt rushed and some things unexplained and brushed over.

I haven't enjoyed any of Charlottes story lines, she is portrayed even more as a Park Avenue Pollyanna.
