I’m three episodes in, and I’m like “meh”
Not very funny and depressing…
Hate all the “box ticking “ it’s overtaking the show
Charlottes daughter can’t just be a tom boy ( which in itself would be funny ) she has to be -whatever they were saying? Transgender?
3 min “comedy sketch” about being Bi….?
Charlotte and Stanford don’t like each other?
Big wanking ..( eew)
Steve just going “eh? What?”
Carrie totally ignoring Charlottes warning about Miranda’s drinking?
Miranda’s Prof saying she was a White Saviour when trying to point out to the guard he was being unreasonable?
Everyone mentioning their age every scene?
Why would Carrie be putting herself through the embarrassment of a vulgar podcast when she’s clearly retired writing and married to a millionaire?

I’m debating whether to just imagine them, all running home from the desert where my imagination left left after SATC2 …

That feels very likely. Decommissioning that magnificent beast.

magicstar1 · 27/01/2022 13:34

I've just watched this morning's episode. I don't get all that stuff with Lily and the tampon - so dragged out and OTT.
Steve is just lovely. He was more back to his old self, and so nice helping out Carrie.

Doubleraspberry · 27/01/2022 13:42

Steve and Carrie, in a tree?

karlakourt · 27/01/2022 13:50

Whats the tampon thing? Since when did teenaged girls get stressed about tampons?

Fair enough of they're 10 or 12 but Lily is practically an adult

karlakourt · 27/01/2022 13:53

I don't believe charlotte has never had menopause symptoms

I hate tampons with an absolute passion and have always refused to use them so Lily's scenes resonated with me Grin. When my DD is old enough for periods I'm not going to be any good at showing her how to use them.

The dad showing his three kids how to paint made me laugh so much - as if they would be painting so nicely!

LittleBearPad · 27/01/2022 20:51

Steve was just great 💔

LittleBearPad · 27/01/2022 20:54

And back to a 50 something year old man not a 70 year old

LoveMae · 27/01/2022 22:08

Steve saying he would never take his ring off hurt my heart. I love him!

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 27/01/2022 22:17

I have never used a tampon as I just would not be able. A friend fainted on first try as a teen and wrote me a letter detailing the whole thing. I can barely get a smear. So yes could get that. What about when Rock gets hers?!

BubblyJu · 27/01/2022 22:22

Did anyone notice the club owner from an old episode? He worked at Gucci and carrie tried to set him up with Charlotte

He's also in Emily In Paris

felulageller · 27/01/2022 22:26

Can someone please reassure me that it's not expected for mums of teen girls to show them how to use tampons???

That's Tony from Prada!
BubblyJu · 27/01/2022 22:44

Of course!! Prada!

Me too - but really, I wanted to slap him and say “You’re too good for her, she NEVER appreciated you even in the early days, find a hot young thing and have rampant sex all over NYC rather than mooning after Miranda”.

I never liked Miranda and Steve together because she always treated him like a stupid child. It reminds me of a friend who spent her whole adult life running after her husband - who like Miranda with Steve, always kept her at arms length - to piss off with another woman when she was 52 and couldn’t be arsed starting again. imagine spending your whole life running after someone who wasn’t worthy to lick your shoes, only to be dumped near the final hurdle

Pregnant?
Robin233 · 28/01/2022 04:01

@AsYouWishButtercup
Your poor friend.
I hope she does start over.
I have a friend who started over at 65
Beautiful woman.
She has a new house a lovely new man 2 years on
This fabulous lady is also working in a great job and all this through a pandemic

whattodowiththisguy · 28/01/2022 07:53

Well I'm really enjoying it!! I miss Samantha though. Wouldn't it be great if it was all a PR stunt and she just showed up one day.

All the 3 main characters are annoying but then they always were! Carrie is so selfish, she's more interested in her shoes than what Steve is trying to say until she loses her ring.. she always was so materialistic though and a drama queen.

Miranda pisses me off. Poor Steve! It is fitting though she has always been a bitch to him. Very much think she felt like she settled for him. I actually quite like Che but not sure why she would like Miranda. Significantly older?? I thought Miranda was so awful when she was all giggly and smiley when she had just told Steve she wanted a divorce.

Agree with everyone on Charlottes terrible acting. I quite like the tampon thing at least a bit normal in the sea of wokeness.

So all in all annoying characters but still love it, just like SATC!

No, this is not some kind of right of passage. Brands with applicators make it much easier, and nobody has to use them at all, and different products come on the market without everyone having to consult their mother.

I thought it was a very odd storyline.

I’m finding the issue based plots really annoying because the premise is always that the main characters are unrealistically clueless.

bestbefore · 28/01/2022 08:15

I thought I'd missed a bit when Miranda was in a cab off to Cleveland and then next episode was back in NY - not sure where she's living??
And I felt for Carrie when Steve was asking her about Miranda, not easy to get involved when you're friends with one side more.

AngelicaSchuylerAndHerSisters · 28/01/2022 08:24

I think the programme might be better once it has found its feet. But I hate the Miranda and Steve storyline. When Carrie said to Steve that Miranda just wanted to be with Che regardless of their sex/gender - this is exactly what Cynthia Nixon said in interviews when she began a relationship with her female partner. This is clearly about the actors and not about character development.
Also the men are very one dimensional this season. The only flashes of depth have been from Steve last night and Carrie’s date.

user1471543094 · 28/01/2022 10:23

Anything to do with Miranda on this is annoying me.

Hated the gap between her going to Cleveland chasing after Che and then just being in NY - What Happened?
They also completely missed out what they said to Brady about her new situation.
I've said it before and I've said it again - there is just no way Che would be into Miranda. Especially when she acts like such a moron around her.

The tampon story went on far too long. Also...when Rose came to tell Charlotte she couldn't find her string, how did she know? Charlotte took her out to the portaloo because all the other bathrooms were being painted and so were out of use - but Rose didn't seem to know that was what they had to do. So how did she discover she couldn't find the string without being to the loo already.

Charlotte standing outside, then going for water, then going back - was really tedious and weird.
Although loved the flash period scene.

Last thought - they are so old and doddery at times and yet Seema and Carrie going to nightclubs?? Pick a lane writers!!
For all my complaints, I really will miss it and am hoping for another series. There is potential there.

user1471543094 · 28/01/2022 10:25

Oh I meant Lily! Not Rose! I am the worst with names

LondonWolf · 28/01/2022 13:56

Miranda/Cynthia is fast nudging this show towards being impossible to watch. I fast forward through her scenes.

starray · 28/01/2022 14:19

Love it. Find it honest. Don't think it's 'box ticking'. I think it's just reflecting modern life. I was around the same age as they were when SATC first came on, so feel like I've grown with the characters. Or rather, grown old with the characters!
