I’m three episodes in, and I’m like “meh”
Not very funny and depressing…
Hate all the “box ticking “ it’s overtaking the show
Charlottes daughter can’t just be a tom boy ( which in itself would be funny ) she has to be -whatever they were saying? Transgender?
3 min “comedy sketch” about being Bi….?
Charlotte and Stanford don’t like each other?
Big wanking ..( eew)
Steve just going “eh? What?”
Carrie totally ignoring Charlottes warning about Miranda’s drinking?
Miranda’s Prof saying she was a White Saviour when trying to point out to the guard he was being unreasonable?
Everyone mentioning their age every scene?
Why would Carrie be putting herself through the embarrassment of a vulgar podcast when she’s clearly retired writing and married to a millionaire?

I’m debating whether to just imagine them, all running home from the desert where my imagination left left after SATC2 …

In reality a minor celeb like Che with a big following would have some sweet young 21yo ‘s hanging off her arm, I highly doubt she’d even go for someone 15 or so years older than her

Yes they’re a match I don’t find at all credible.

I think there’ll be a happy ending of sorts in a couple of weeks in the last episode for Steve and Miranda when she ‘comes to get senses’ after the dreaded Che dumps her.

AngelicaSchuylerAndHerSisters · 21/01/2022 17:00

I’m hoping for a second series too since there is more story to tell. I wonder why Miranda had to become so awful and selfish? I hadn’t realised how crucial Samantha was to the tone and humour,

ExtremelyDetermined · 21/01/2022 17:04

I don't think for a minute Che will settle down with Miranda, I think she's just a notch on the bedpost for them.

TableLampy · 21/01/2022 17:12

I totally agree that it would be unrealistic for che to settle down with Miranda. I just don’t think Cynthia Nixon would be happy with / allow this storyline to end up with Miranda back with Steve

bestbefore · 21/01/2022 17:20

I just realised that Miranda and Steves son is called Brady and that's Steves surname..so Miranda Hobbes and Steve Brady and their son Brady Hobbes. ConfusedConfused

Drunkpanda · 21/01/2022 17:25

Brady Hobbes-Brady? Brady Brady-Hobbes?
The life with Steve is not to be sneezed at but 55 is too young to have given up on being in an active sex life with your husband!

LittleBearPad · 21/01/2022 17:31

For the love of God, Miranda, wear flats. Watching her try and walk in heels is physically painful to me

Yes the bit where she was waking away from the rally Shock

And they kept showing it to indicate a break in the show - has she got back problems?!
LittleBearPad · 21/01/2022 17:34

@duvetdayforeveryone

Thank you!

Rom com Hmm

WarrickDavisAsPlates · 21/01/2022 17:37

The "Rom Com", hopeful, optimistic, taking a chance on love Miranda from the end of this episode is such a turn around from the more careful, considered and cynical Miranda from the original series and really makes me think they're setting her up for a big fall.

I'm glad in episode 8 we finally got to see Steve doing some actual acting rather than just not hearing things and loosing his wallet, this conversation with Miranda was quite touching and well acted. I did like how he said he was happy with their relationship and was glad that after years of ups and downs they'd finally settled into a steady and comfortable relationship. It just shows how two people in the same relationship can experience it so differently.

I'm re-watching SATC alongside AJLT, which I think was a mistake on my part. I am still going to continue watching as I do think it's getting better and I'd definitely watch a second series.

Shinydiscoballs1 · 21/01/2022 17:56

Sorry if already meantioned as I've not read the whole thread but why is Steve such a fuddy duddy now? He was a charasmatic, sexy barman I just don't believe this is what he would be like in his 50s!!

WarrickDavisAsPlates · 21/01/2022 18:12

Oh definitely looks like the Che thing pans out as predicted then.

DaggerIsle · 21/01/2022 18:27

I didn't realise the dessert dress was Versace. It's the least Versace dress I have ever seen! I thought it was Galliano Dior.

Funny about taste because Steve's voice to me is the ultimate turn off. Saying that I never found him charismatic or sexy either. He had a NY-equivalent-to-cheeky-chappie vibe but was always too immature for Miranda. The failure of SATC is to keep them together- Miranda liked culture and literature, and aside from the accidental pregnancy had no long-term future with Steve.
She should have stayed with the sexy doctor who bought her cookies and looked after her when she had chicken pox.... what the fuck was she thinking?

Saying that, they have now turned Steve into a senile caricature of himself and she is treating him like shit.

LittleBearPad · 21/01/2022 19:29

But he was so irritating!

Steve was much better - obvs not 70-something Steve as he no appears to be!

Socialcarenope · 21/01/2022 19:41

@Doubleraspberry

Me too. Made me laugh a lot. It looked quite flaccid for someone on a promise of a BJ I thought.
It's still not allowed to show an erect penis on mainstream TV in most countries.

Yes awful.
Socialcarenope · 21/01/2022 19:47

I'm really surprised at the awful portal on Che as a non-binary character. Surely Sara Ramirez, who is NB themselves can see how flat and stereotypical the character it?

LoveMae · 21/01/2022 19:50

I completely agree that we haven't seen enough of Che to understand or appreciate them, so I was pleased when they were shocked Miranda wasn't in an open marriage.

Carrie in the dress

LondonWolf · 21/01/2022 20:03

Really enjoying this now. Seema is a worthy successor to Samantha imo.

Miranda being a complete idiot and will clearly find Che with someone else when she gets to Cleveland. Really hope Steve doesn't take her back!

theleafandnotthetree · 21/01/2022 21:07

Miranda's only choices in the world are not Steve and Che! Assuming it doesn't work out with the latter, the last thing she would be likely to do (credibly) would be to go crawling back to Steve. I know Mumsnet loves that narrative but the more likely outcome is that she is single and/or has relationships with both men and women.

LuckySantangelo35 · 21/01/2022 21:21

But to be fair to Miranda why should she settle for comfort and familiarity and no sex and lack of connection etc? That’s not selfish or ‘cringe’. It would be a bit demoralising if she returns back to Steve, kind of giving the message that middle aged women shouldn’t hope or expect anything more for themselves

WarrickDavisAsPlates · 21/01/2022 21:28

I agree with you. I don't want Miranda to go back to Steve, even though I really liked them together in SATC.

I'd like to see Miranda moving on with her life ad a single woman, continuing to find herself and doing more with her studies/ career (and giving her son a verbal clip round the ear for being so disrespectful to her.)

MiniCooperLover · 21/01/2022 21:31

I admire her for standing up for 'more' to Steve. He's actually like he's bloody 85/90 not 55 and frankly I've known some fantastic 85 year olds who put him to shame. I'm praying she doesn't go back to that.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 21/01/2022 21:45

Bestbefore, wasn't that the whole thing when he was born /they got married? That he wouldn't be Brady Brady Grin
