When SATC ended, there were loads of online articles about how awful Carrie was as a person. I wonder if part of the aim if AJLT was to make her the nicest - which has worked. I always really liked Miranda, but she is awful now. Che makes me want to turn off. The actress playing Charlotte is terrible and her character is so one dimensional. However, I am still watching and I REALLY want to like the programme more.

I found it unbelievable that Che is in love with Miranda. I also think it's inevitable Miranda will get to Cleveland and find Che with someone else ... who will say "I told you I couldn't give you conventional" ... they assumed Miranda was in an open marriage which was bold of them anyway and clearly thats what they want. Then Miranda will be all like oh I actually love the comfort of dessert night etc 🙄

Also loved Carrie again especially in the scarf and gloves smoking her one a day. I have been re-watching the original show and it's quite shocking how much young Carrie smokes. Like all the time! I had forgotten tbh and it's just not something you see these days 😂

I do think they overdid the Steve old man thing - he is quite attractive for a 55y old man (not overweight, not balding, nice voice) but they made him seem 80 with the misplacing his hearing aids and confusion at the market. Che - awful character but at least becoming a bit less one dimensional, right-on shock jock.

I am also quite enjoying it now I have to confess and would like a second series. It's actually quite nice to see 55y old women being portrayed as still having libidos, lives, ambitions etc.

The problem with Che (other than the utter twatness) is the fact that there has been zero character development aside of the non-binary element.

At least with the professor (no idea what her name is), we know about her struggles to conceive, her academic qualifications, her relationship with her husband and her friends.
Same with Seema, we know the pressures she's under to find a man with her family, her interests outside of work, her love of fashion etc.

But Che and the other lady (the one who Anthony called Black Charlotte) are so one dimensional.

For the love of God, Miranda, wear flats. Watching her try and walk in heels is physically painful to me.

The scene with Miranda and Che in the last episode, in which Che found out Miranda was not in an open marriage, was the only time I’ve seen any depth at all to the character. In how many, 8, episodes?

The massive expensive one? She sold it straight away I think. There was a brief discussion between her & Seema where she said she didn't like it.

Agreed. It just feels like she’s about to get her comeuppance - “this is what happens when the old ladies think they can still play the game” type of thing. Even if you get the pronouns right and you buy into the whole rainbow narrative, you’ll never properly get it because Che would never sleep with a married woman unless it was obvious she was in an open marriage . Miranda misses the mark again!

But do you think it will go wrong with che? Cynthia Nixon directs the programme and I’m sure will have had loads of input on this story. She left her husband for a woman and I can’t really see that she will want that story portrayed as anything other than a positive outcome and a happy ending
