I’m three episodes in, and I’m like “meh”
Not very funny and depressing…
Hate all the “box ticking “ it’s overtaking the show
Charlottes daughter can’t just be a tom boy ( which in itself would be funny ) she has to be -whatever they were saying? Transgender?
3 min “comedy sketch” about being Bi….?
Charlotte and Stanford don’t like each other?
Big wanking ..( eew)
Steve just going “eh? What?”
Carrie totally ignoring Charlottes warning about Miranda’s drinking?
Miranda’s Prof saying she was a White Saviour when trying to point out to the guard he was being unreasonable?
Everyone mentioning their age every scene?
Why would Carrie be putting herself through the embarrassment of a vulgar podcast when she’s clearly retired writing and married to a millionaire?

I’m debating whether to just imagine them, all running home from the desert where my imagination left left after SATC2 …

I've just read the actor playing Steve has real life hearing loss hence they wrote that into Steve's storyline.

Newgirls · 14/01/2022 15:07

Carrie and Charlotte are angry with Miranda about che - the picnic scene for a start. But Carrie asks her not to walk away ‘like Samantha did’

Also perhaps they don’t think she’s suited to Steve either. I find that very believable. I know quite a few women who seem to be at their peak in their 50s and the husbands seem to have gone more pipe and slippers.

AsYouWishButtercup · 14/01/2022 15:38

I realised in the first episode Carrie says something like “I thought I was more than a pay check to Samantha”. Massively throwing shade at Kim Cattrall who famously (and fairly? Given she practically put her back out carrying the show for six years) asked for a pay rise to match SJP’s.

I wonder if we’d miss any of the other characters had they not returned like we do Samantha?

Good question. Carrie would be missed but Miranda and Charlotte? I'm not sure they'd leave a huge hole.

LoveMae · 14/01/2022 18:41

Thank you for the WASP explanations!! Star

I'm going against the grain to say I don't mind the whole miranda and che thing! I don't think it's too much of a stretch to think that she could be exploring her sexuality in later life. It was mentioned she was unhappy with Steve and she's at a stage in her life where she is reassessing what she wants- ie giving up work and studying.
Yes I agree with this as I mentioned up thread, I don't think it's far from the reality at all, EXCEPT why aren't they making a bigger deal of her having a full blown affair? Charlotte was shocked but shut down, I think they should both be really cost and firm with her that it's not ok. Especially as she now said she's in love! So it's more than just sex!!

Che is definitely not in love, just a cocky thing who enjoys the power trip.

LoveMae · 14/01/2022 18:43

@AsYouWishButtercup I thought that was so bitchy and underhand. I know they fell out mainly over money but there was no need to write her out of the show in such a weak way

DaggerIsle · 14/01/2022 18:58

It was shitty and unrealistic to the character.
Samantha represented Carrie for free.

It reminded me of the rumours Kim Cattrall had turned down a third movie because of the money and SJP was reportedly furious.

lovelychops · 14/01/2022 23:02

@lovemae maybe carrie feels she can't criticise an affair after her indiscretions in the past ..?
But yeah, no one seems bothered about Steve!

5thHelena · 14/01/2022 23:25

@LeQuern

Anthony and (lord forgive me!) Carrie are the only likeable characters / actors who’ve remembered how to act.

It’s bizarre how badly the others are acting, especially KD. You can see the bloody cogs whirring.

Can someone please explain to me what the hell has happened to KD's acting ability?? She is so completely wooden it's painful. All I can think about is that scene where she's on the couch ( in satc) and Harry has called Carrie over after the miscarriage. She's so broken and its so natural. She plays it exquisitely. Now she keeps doing those big Diana eyes and mouthing every word separately it's driving me to distraction!!
5thHelena · 14/01/2022 23:33

@readwritelove

Ridiculous that Carrie would buy an apartment she didn’t really like (which would have cost millions!), but it’s ok as she can just sell it again, just like that!
Big's death has left her an extremely wealthy woman so entirely possible
JacquelineCarlyle · 15/01/2022 00:15

@DaggerIsle

Charlotte did say Miranda was cheating but was beaten down. It's almost as if because Che is female it doesn't really count? Which of course is terribly un-woke. As is calling Demi Levato a woman... Grin

Showing my age and un-wokeness I am having trouble with the pronouns. When Miranda asked Carrie if they had been talking about her at work it took me a while to realise she meant Che and not a weird group gossip about Carrie's friend.

I didn't realise until reading this just now Blush

The other thing that annoyed me this week was the attempt to show Steve as a bumbling idiot in comparison to the lecturer's husband. It's as if they want the audience to be thinking they don't blame Miranda for having an affair. He's a good man and he deserves better. And I wouldn't want my husband kissing me seductively in front of a friend just as he's going off to buy some cheese. Who does that anyway?

That annoyed me too! They're turning Steve into a comedy old man with hearing issues which is borderline offensive... and anyway they're not THAT old!
Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 15/01/2022 09:05

They're not! All that "oh, that kiss. If you were a Netflix show I'd stream you" Who says that? And then her embarrassed "that's my Steve". Just, awful.

ExtremelyDetermined · 15/01/2022 09:09

Yes, it's horrible what they're doing to Steve, if they wanted a justification for Miranda playing away they've hit the wrong note. As for the affair, I don't think its unrealistic for it to be with a female, but I am finding Che repellant, just playing power games. Miranda is going to get badly hurt I think (and I don't much care).

Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 15/01/2022 09:20

Will Miranda get hurt? I can't see them wanting to show the amazing Che in anything but a good light. Che can do no wrong. Che is adored by everyone 🥱

I’d have missed Miranda because I loved old Miranda. But new Miranda is tedious.

I laughed a bit at Steve washing his hands when asked to finger her.

I am adoring the Che memes all over social media. How could they have got the character so wrong but think it’s so good?

All of this ^^
Doubleraspberry · 15/01/2022 10:56

I meant to say, is it bad that I’m finding Steve sexy in this current incarnation? He’s very clearly not meant to be!

Loving this series

Light hearted fluff, loved Carrie meeting next chap abs the sick so so funny !! Glad there is more daring now from Carrie Miranda abs hopefully seema!

I found it unrealistic that an Alpha like Big would still be married to Carrie. In real life he'd be with someone 30 years younger, the way creepy Chris Noth is in real life. Harsh I know but true...

No they’d want kids and his lovely sophisticated life would be buggered.
