I’m three episodes in, and I’m like “meh”
Not very funny and depressing…
Hate all the “box ticking “ it’s overtaking the show
Charlottes daughter can’t just be a tom boy ( which in itself would be funny ) she has to be -whatever they were saying? Transgender?
3 min “comedy sketch” about being Bi….?
Charlotte and Stanford don’t like each other?
Big wanking ..( eew)
Steve just going “eh? What?”
Carrie totally ignoring Charlottes warning about Miranda’s drinking?
Miranda’s Prof saying she was a White Saviour when trying to point out to the guard he was being unreasonable?
Everyone mentioning their age every scene?
Why would Carrie be putting herself through the embarrassment of a vulgar podcast when she’s clearly retired writing and married to a millionaire?

I’m debating whether to just imagine them, all running home from the desert where my imagination left left after SATC2 …

@x2boys

I feel like Cynthia Nixon is trying to Educate the audience, and that was never what the show was about . Would it not be better to acknowledge that Rose is very different to her sister and that's fine ,maybe she's gay ,maybe she ,s trans or maybe she ,s just a nearly teen girl whose navigating her way through adolescent,it doesn't have to be a big deal ,and in this day and age ,girls can be whatever they want to be .
Exactly this. We haven’t got to see the character development of Rose/Rock. It was just “here are Charlotte’s two DDs. One likes wearing dresses, the other doesn’t. This one is now a boy/NB”
RoyKentsChestHair · 31/12/2021 13:53

And yes, Miranda’s reaction to poor Carrie being left to piss herself while M got off with Che was so out of character. She would have been mortified to be heard and also felt awful for what happened while she was doing it, when her whole purpose for being there was to take care of her post-op friend.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 31/12/2021 14:01

Agreed. I was surprised at her actually smiling and laughing about it but at a reach put it down to embarrassment teamed with being off her head and also clearly giddy after what had happened.

tribpot · 31/12/2021 14:38

I feel Miranda is a logical person, she will prob give up the booze easily as it's logical
If that really is how Miranda's alcohol journey goes, I definitely will have to stop watching. Addiction isn't logical.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that the last couple of episodes were cut short, as they've cut out SJPs flashbacks containing Big. He supposedly filmed a lot more scenes than we've seen on screen.

Charliesgotachocolatefactory · 31/12/2021 15:53

I also really disliked the whole physio ‘joke’ - oh your insurance doesn’t cover the hot one, you have to go with THIS. Nice.

BlackSwan · 31/12/2021 16:03

I thought recalling the story about Samantha was meant to be offensive to Kim Cattrall.

That bit made me smile
BlackSwan · 31/12/2021 16:06

The show has lost its lustre for me. I'm cringing.

LondonWolf · 31/12/2021 19:43

Dear me, just watched this weeks episode, it’s just the Cynthia Nixon Political Opinions Showcase now isn’t it? Tedious.

That said, I do enjoy how certain issues are being presented “Without Comment” eg “Rock’s” parents being lectured by HER teacher at school. It was played out, but there was no real “lesson” just a realistic account of how such a meeting might go and the audience is left to interpret it and form their own opinions.

LuckyAmy1986 · 31/12/2021 20:04

I'm loving it!

It's not as good as it was, and I miss that it (mostly) just used to be about the friendships and relationships, and now it seems to be about highlighting issues.

BUT it feels so nice to have these characters back on my screen. I've watched SATC through so many times. It feels like home!

Benjispruce5 · 31/12/2021 20:05

I agree @LuckyAmy1986

felulageller · 31/12/2021 20:46

The show is mansplaining to middle aged women how they should be.

Yuk.

It feels like Cynthia Nixon's ego fest.

Benjispruce5 · 31/12/2021 20:50

It’s not that deep.

BigotSpigot · 31/12/2021 20:54

It's truly terrible for so many reasons... but I keep watching. I don't think I have ever cringed more than at the Che/Miranda sex, just dreadful,... cringing again....

EachandEveryone · 01/01/2022 00:24

Do you think there will be a second season?

DifferentHair · 01/01/2022 00:41

@EachandEveryone absolutely. It's a license to print money. They're clearly setting it up in the hope that Kim Catrall will come back. They could make a whole season based around her return, people would watch it (including me!)

I don't know why they don't just offer her a pile of money and a percentage of the profits etc. if they fell out because she wanted to be paid like SJP, then they should just offer her $1 more than SJP for all future seasons and get it done.

foxlover47 · 01/01/2022 01:15

I loved the end , that dress and heel combo Carrie wore took me back to why I used to love the show

AsYouWishButtercup · 01/01/2022 10:40

The story line about Rock just feels like stuff that is happening in schools, kids are much more experimental with their identify these days which is great.

@babysfirstchristmas can you tell me in what way children are re-enforcing very damaging stereotypes is great?

AsYouWishButtercup · 01/01/2022 10:41

And as if Carrie is prudish because she didn’t support her friend shagging someone who wasn’t her husband right in front of her eyes FFS Hmm

AsYouWishButtercup · 01/01/2022 10:42

Also not surprised at all Charlotte reads the DM, some people read it and don’t even care about telling people! She’s a WASP, likely to be right leaning.

babysfirstchristmas · 01/01/2022 11:17

@AsYouWishButtercup I am not sure what you mean, but I have several friends with children who are experimenting with their identity including changing names and the way they dress, just like Rock

LondonWolf · 01/01/2022 11:40

Yes the current social contagion, especially when it’s multiple children in friendship groups, involving these issues is very worrying. Especially when it’s involving plonking children on a life long path of medicalisation and surgery.

Youngatheart00 · 01/01/2022 11:43

It’s almost as if children are being ENCOURAGED to change gender. It’s scary.

Anyway, let’s not make this all about gender politics.

As I said upthread, the most ‘off’ thing for me of the episode was trivialising how Carrie was high on opioids. Anyone watched Dopesick??!

lightisnotwhite · 01/01/2022 11:51

@babysfirstchristmas When you say “identify” though It’s relying on the identity of existing stereotypes of boys or girls.Rock could wear a dress or Rose could carry on wearing a black hoodie either could carry on skateboarding. But ultimately Rose was born female so surely more impowering to live her life as a girl that breaks all the norms. Rather than acquiring the sterotyoes of a boy name, boy dress sense, boys hobbies.
