@SheldonesqueTheBstard

Dot.

But Dot though. 🥰

I could have done with him as the next doctor.

The Master, surely?
SheldonesqueTheBstard · 29/11/2021 20:57

I’m still hoping for a John Simm reprieve…

Be still my walloping two hearts.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 29/11/2021 22:04

Was that Sir Anthony Strallen from Downton?

MrsBison · 29/11/2021 22:12

The latest doctor is terrible. I just dont feel her acting/voice/persona. Also, the writing for the latest season is terrible.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 29/11/2021 22:15

It was indeed m’lady polkadots.

Until his face got stuffed with a wriggling snek.

[quote LiterallyKnowsBest]Did you miss all the Division episodes, ParishSpinster? If so there’s an explanation here:

Thank you, this has helped me make some sense of it!

I was initially baffled but now think it's shaping up for a good ending.

Rummikub · 05/12/2021 18:49

I’m loving the Liverpool references and mad mole of edge hill.

SequinsandStiIettos · 05/12/2021 19:06

Show don't tell.
There's a lot of exposition-driven monologuing going on.
Or is it me? Confused Tardis

Agreed. It felt like they had to explain everything. What they were doing, why they were doing it and what would happen if they failed. 🙄 I really didn't enjoy it at all. I still had no idea what was going on for the most part, and it all just felt very rushed and a ridiculous series of conveniences.
dillite · 05/12/2021 20:51

I take it if I were to ask someone WTF I watched tonight, all the responses would be- we have no idea? Because I am seriously confused by everything. Bit like The Doctor.

SpindlesWinterWhorl · 05/12/2021 21:01

Awful. Just awful. The three Whittakers doing full-on exposition-gabble didn't help either.

Which is a shame as the supporting cast were fine.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 05/12/2021 21:11

I dont know what any of that was about..or what happened..or why..
Ooh darleks coming back

SpindlesWinterWhorl · 05/12/2021 21:14

The answer to everything seems to be 'blah blah quantum blah blah'.

woodhill · 05/12/2021 21:19

Too confusing

52andblue · 05/12/2021 21:59

Even my devoted Whitman teens have given up in disgust :( saying: 'do we have to endure a NY special too ?'

SpindlesWinterWhorl · 05/12/2021 22:02

Who is writing the specials? Does anyone know?

I've been watching since I was a little girl, and this is tragic.

debwong · 08/12/2021 15:13

It was a bit bonkers, wasn't it, and I can't decide if it was awful or brilliant.

SoupDragon · 08/12/2021 15:16

Sadly, I think it was far, far closer to "awful" than it was to "brilliant".

Too much going on and far too much "explaining".

LiterallyKnowsBest · 08/12/2021 15:24

Liverpool was the outstanding star of this series. Well done to the people who showed the city in all its glory.

Having read the interview with the erstwhile Grey Worm of GOT - (Jacob Basil Anderson) it’s my sad conclusion that poorly written Dr Who really drags down the skills of the actors it employs. I know other people have said JW is a much better actor in other things. JBA was extraordinary in GOT - but the Dr Who script gave him almost no scope for anything at all - no emotion, just running around with a weapon. Xmas Hmm

friedeggandsauce · 08/12/2021 17:34

@DoctorDonna20 I am scared of the weeping angels too, I remember watching it with my children for the first time (they were too young when it first came out) and preparing them for it being so scary- they looked at me like I was mad 🙄

TitsInAbsentia · 08/12/2021 21:19

Me too! I was excited to hear he was in the show and then realised sadly that would mean he couldn't be the next Doc Sad
SheldonesqueTheBstard · 09/12/2021 11:08

He would have been perfect.

But so would Malcolm Tucker.

They missed a trick there. As much as I loved Peter Capaldi, they proper let him down.

Malcolm as the Doc? Post watershed perfection.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 11/12/2021 00:37

We thought Yaz and the Doctor were going to kiss at the end! It would have made about as much sense as the rest of it...

spongedog · 14/12/2021 00:55

Gosh - I loved this series. It finally had some kick and I felt the writing was back. Why would anyone in a 6 episode arc of Dr Who expect to understand in Episode 1 what was going on? Maybe thats the youth of today - need all the answers given straight away.

I thought the interweaving of the Dr's ongoing enemies worked really well and introduced some new ones. Was no-one puzzled by the unveiling of the Time master as the Dr? And I am still frightened by the Stone Angels. They are frigging scary.

I thought the multiple story lines played really well. They rolled the story forward with overlapping characters. Yes it was confusing but remember to breathe and all will be OK.

The supporting cast did really well - I adore John Bishop so naturally he can do no wrong. But that was a little like Bradley Walsh Mark 2. I also thought the Dr and Yaz might kiss - the emotion was all there.

SoupDragon · 14/12/2021 07:44

Why would anyone in a 6 episode arc of Dr Who expect to understand in Episode 1 what was going on?

I would have expected to understand by episode 5.

You should be able to have a vague idea of the basic storyline in Episode 1 but this had far too many pieces of the puzzle. The twists and turns should be in addition to a solid core.
