New thread for tonight. Will they have to replicate a Tunnock's product? Creme caramel? Can't think what else they might have to do.

I couldn’t imagine Jurgen on with Phil & Holly for instance or fronting his own show. I think he wasn’t show biz enough.

I knew he was a gonner when they all got handshakes. Husband did laugh at pru when she said she would of given him one 😂😂. I wouldnt of put beetroot in a cake if I wasn't 100 pc sure. To be honest it must of been very disheartening when they all got handshakes and he didn't.

I have wanted chiggs to win from the start the year he has had has been amazing. I do think they might give it to crystelle

Should have been a Euro final decided on penalties in extra time. Poor Jurgen. Robbed.

Chrystalle constantly makes stripy flowers, I do think she will be the winner, not because of her ability but her looks will sell stuff.

Pity it all comes down to looks rather than being a good baker.

Tbf we don't know how much of all this is down to the editing. It's a show at the end of the day. Viewers are manipulated to feel a certain way. People talk about it. The ad breaks become more valuable.

The more I think about yesterday's episode the more it makes me angry. So bizarre and mean spirited from Paul. Poor Jürgen, the victim of Paul's inflated ego. He puts down anyone who doesn't show sufficient reverence.

I hate Paul’s dramatic performance of looking dissatisfied with the bake and then saying he loves it. It’s so boring and predictable.

I also dislike how he criticises some people and let’s it slide with others.

I hate the handshake and the theatrics from the bakers.

I feel like Paul’s overstayed his welcome and he was just mean to Jurgen throughout. As a PP said he didn’t seem to like him.

Typing this I’m thinking maybe I’m just not as into the bake off as I once was. Or maybe I’m just over Paul Hollywood and his hype

Agree re Paul totally. It's become all about him. It's as if he gets final say and Prue's opinion counts for nothing - or at least it doesn't appear that way. Ugh.

If Chigs doesn't stuff it up he will win because we keep being reminded (by Paul) that he has been on 'a journey'.

Is obvs directed and scripted to an extent but I would like PH to have less lines next series. Or actually, be backstage. Props maybe. Or runner. If he must still have a role (probs written in his interminable contract).

And Matt and Noel with their hilarious panto introductions. Funny enough to make you switch channels immediately. Bin them. Please.

@LadyEloise1 - why, why does it matter? It was who was behind the others that weekend that was important. It was incredibly close this year though.

Is it only me that thought when Matt and Noel were discussing with Prue and Paul who should go home that Matt said “I don’t know who jürgen to choose”? And I think totally unfair. All 4 should have gone through. I don’t think Paul liked Jürgen.

I came here to say exactly this. I was so annoyed with Matt for that.

The writing was on the wall once Paul discovered he'd potentially eaten a sausage roll that Jurgen had dropped on the floor.
Paul is just a parody now and his baking skills are completely overshadowed by him overworking his celebrity/flirty persona. I'd enjoy the next series more if he was dropped.

Prue was on Extra Slice last week and said they didn't know until that moment, i.e. on Extra Slice, that the sausage roll had been on the floor.

I don't think Paul fancied Rahul either. Rahul went back to his engineering role but does sciencey baking stuff at the University. He also posts a lot on Instagram but he hasn't been on TV much. I don't think it's all down to the potential marketing.

Yes, apparently Paul was watching at home when he saw the sausage rolls on the floor!

Agree - I wondered if Juergen has been obviously p*ssed off with them during the filming and it's gone against him? He obviously can't be bothered with them messing about when he's strapped for time (TBH, I don't know how no-one has jammed them into a freezer and slammed the door shut - they are a PITA)

I am very sad that Juergen has gone. I like him. He seemed calm, kind and capable. I am not sure who I would have leave in his place though. Guiseppe is lovely, and he has baked well consistently throughout the series. Chigs had two good rounds and seemed to win the showstopper, and Crystelle did brilliantly too. I am with the PP who suggested thta a four person final would have been best.

@SchadenfreudePersonified Jürgen made a really nice tweet about Noel and Matt and doesn't seem as the sort of person who'd say something like that without meaning it. Their interactions were probably edited to play upon the "blunt German with no sense of humour" stereotype.
