Home and Away thread: everyone to Salt for one of Ryder's cocktails

New thread here so that we can continue discussing everything important in the Bay: who is hotter - new police officer or potential new doctor? Will new doctor BE new doctor or was that brief superhero moment all we get?

Will Tori and Christian ever get married and by now, how many of us really care? And what next for the Tane/Ziggy/Dean triangle?

Grab a seat, place your cocktail orders, hope that Annoying Chloe doesn't show up, and get chatting!

Was the storyline that Marilyn was going on holiday?

Who’s ada?

EBearhug · 15/04/2022 02:31

How come they do so much Maori stuff, rather than native Australians? Is H&A big in NZ? Not that I'm complaining, it just seems a bit odd to me.

AiryFairy1 · 15/04/2022 06:05

I was also wondering about Maz - she went off “to get her head straight” after all the Logan stuff (I missed why she seems to have had a personality transplant), but I think Alf Roo etc should have told her about Ari - she’ll be devastated to only find out so long after the fact Sad

Ada is the Leah actress who I think IS on holiday in Greece … she takes off every now and then. Remember when she got kidnapped by that loon as a reason why she wasn’t in the show?!

@SleepingStandingUp off to South Africa - first trip since pre-pandemic so feel a bit out of practice! The added Covid dynamic doesn’t help - and I’m going to miss the cat Grin

SleepingStandingUp · 15/04/2022 09:23

I wondered if with all Aus's heave lockdown if this was people's first proper chance for holiday as such and if Ada had gone back to Greece. She's in Cyprus with Ash doing rude things really 😂😂

Maz had a reaction to the toxic fumes which affected her personality and she's gone for some kind of inpatient rehab I think? Again, wondering if the actress is on a really nice holiday somewhere. Like very lucky @AiryFairy1 who's going to have an amazing time!!

CurbsideProphet · 15/04/2022 09:35

I think they were due proper annual leave and had to shoehorn that into a storyline somehow 😀

That's a really good point @EBearhug Maybe H&A is the main soap for youngsters in NZ...

I think h&a got a bit of flack for their diversity casting, they managed to show horn in a gay native Aus lad for Palmers to foster short term but really, there isn't much of any.
Rummikub · 15/04/2022 14:05

Maori culture is treated as an equal in NZ, whereas indigenous Australians haven’t been in Australia?’
I’ve been to both countries and I’d noticed a difference.

SleepingStandingUp · 15/04/2022 14:25

Where is Gemma?? Surely they could have paid the actress to film a few scenes. Noway would she not have come back for her boyd

Dontlickthetrolley · 15/04/2022 14:37

But they are taking the body to NZ and it's done quite quickly so could she have physically got back to Australia before having to fly back to NZ?

SleepingStandingUp · 15/04/2022 14:39

Ah OK I saw them outside the house with the. Coffin, I missed they're returning home. OK, so in my head she'll meet them there. That's OK.

Rummikub · 15/04/2022 23:26

I did wonder about Mia not going to NZ

Dontlickthetrolley · 15/04/2022 23:52

Yes, as his wife, surely she should be there???

CurbsideProphet · 16/04/2022 14:39

I'm watching Friday's episode. Normally in soaps someone dies and next episode there's a clip of a funeral, then it's over. Hopefully people familiar with Maori traditions feel it's been portrayed appropriately, as I'm finding it very moving 😔

CurbsideProphet · 16/04/2022 14:51

I wonder if the men traditionally take the male deceased to their final resting place?

Luckingfovely · 17/04/2022 16:58

I could cry! I've been saving this week up to watch in one go - and Tuesday's episode is no longer on Sky!

Anyone else have this or any ideas how to find it?

CurbsideProphet · 17/04/2022 18:29

@Luckingfovely have you checked channel 5's on demand service?

Luckingfovely · 18/04/2022 15:16

Managed to find it on an iPad, thank you.

Have now caught up and have wept all of the tears! What superb acting from the whole Parata clan.

CurbsideProphet · 20/04/2022 18:36

It's still so sad for the Parratas 😔

CurbsideProphet · 22/04/2022 12:29

Mia's dream about Ari 😭😭

KatieKat88 · 22/04/2022 14:06

Just watched the funeral episode from last week, so sad. Some great acting, they've done a really good job with this.

SleepingStandingUp · 22/04/2022 15:03

Yeah, Mia emotes really well

KatieKat88 · 22/04/2022 18:13

Tane breaking down after the Haka too Sad

CurbsideProphet · 22/04/2022 18:24

Chloe pretend crying in the bathroom so Bella would stay with her was exceptionally creepy. Really don't know where they're going with this...

Rummikub · 22/04/2022 18:54

Yes I couldn’t tell if the mirror crying was real
then I noticed her smile when she hugged Bella.

Dontlickthetrolley · 23/04/2022 11:06

I don't like the direction of travel for Chloe's character, it is not a good look for the H & A writers.
