Even though the commentators are still talking about Djokovic as though Medvedev hasn't wonHmm.

How much credit does Daniil deserve? All of it! He bloody won Angry.

I'm a bit cross. Can you tell Grin.

looks as if it’s got tennis players hands!
That's exactly what I thought Grin

I'm not a fan of Daniel Craig as Bond. Roger Moore is my favourite.

Benoit was in the racquet manufacturer's learning how they're made and has vowed to never break another Grin

Raahh · 01/10/2021 10:45

I always remember going to the cinema with my best mate years ago to see 'The Shawshank Redemption'. We used to go to the cinema a lot- and go for pizza first. It was a long film. She went to the loo quite near the end, just before the 'big reveal' that explained pretty much half the film Grin.

Last night was the first Bond film I have ever watched all the way through (apart from when Dh tried to get me to watch Skyfall at home, but I fell asleep). I've never been into Bond.

I love that Benoit has been racquet-shamed Grin.

Hope that Benoit has learnt his lesson Jane Grin

Yes DH has been known to miss vital plot points in films Grin

Raahh · 01/10/2021 20:45

Just seen the scores in San Diego- Cameron is doing well against Shapo- won the first set and is 4-1 up in the second.

That’s a good result for Norrie.

Raahh · 03/10/2021 10:49

Ruud and Norrie into the final- good win for Norrie again, over Rublev. Casper showing he can play on hard courts as well as clay, which is good.

I'm confused this morning (not difficultGrin)- because the London Marathon is on. Memories of last year, when RG was on in October and it felt totally wrong (and cold Grin).

Oh yes and the sun was setting in a different place too Grin

Raahh · 03/10/2021 11:36

It was all kinds of wrong, Jane.

Apart from the result. I liked the result.

Just seen that Andy Murray is in the bad books - apparently he left his sweaty trainers (with his wedding ring tied to the laces!) drying under a car and they were stolen (along with his wedding ring) Shock

Has he really only got one pair of trainers? You think he would have learnt his lesson from trainergate at the US Open!

Kim will not be happy with him!

kazzaD66 · 07/10/2021 11:34

I know. I saw his confession/plea on Instagram this morning and now it's everywhere, even the BBC homepage! I said exactly the same thing - you have plenty of spare kit, which should include trainers, Andy!Hmm Why did he need to go and buy a replacement pair? Did the US Open teach him nothing? Hmm

Aside from the actual loss of the ring, if I was Kim, I would be fuming it took his physio to notice he wasn't wearing his wedding ring. Andy didn't even notice!!

Fizzywinegum · 07/10/2021 12:07

Yes I thought that kazza Grin

I bet he’s a bit of a nightmare to live with!

Raahh · 07/10/2021 13:39

I have just been reading about Andy and his trainers- why on earth does he only have one pair?? Why would you want to risk buying replacement shoes and breaking them in, during a tournament?

And why do tennis players insist on tying their wedding rings to their shoes anyway- that is a recipe for disaster Grin.

So many questions ...Grin

In other good news- Djok could be forced out of the Australian Open, if they insist on vaccinations (and he hasn't had one, which I'm guessing he hasn't).

Surely he won't be able to get around it. I will be annoyed if they make him the exception. There shouldn't be any- how ever many times he's won it. I did read that the tournament directors are worried that insisting on vaccines may stop big names going, and put off spectators. But really- that shouldn't be a consideration- relying on particular athletes can never be a certainty in any sport, due to injuries etc. Plus- in the next few year, the big 3 will not be around, and tournaments need to get used to that.

Fizzywinegum · 07/10/2021 14:42

Yes so many questions about Andy Murray’s trainers Raahh Grin - also the person who nicked the trainers now knows they’ve probably also got a very valuable ring!

I’d also heard that about the Australian open - I hope they don’t make an exception for Djok - he’ll probably come up with some excuse to get out of having the vaccine!

It does seem wrong that a lot of the tournaments eg Us Open insist that spectators are fully vaccinated but not the players Hmm

Raahh · 07/10/2021 16:21

I wouldn't put it past Djok to try to come up with some way around the vaccine situation- but he has made his feelings so clear on the subject, that if he was to suddently announce he had been jabbed, it would look very suspicious.

Disappointing for Emma but pleased that Andy is through.

Fizzywinegum · 09/10/2021 09:14

Yes Chessie a good win for Andy and he’s been reunited with his stinky trainers and wedding ring Grin

It is disappointing for Emma but I guess she needs to get used to the routine of playing tournaments week in week out

SomethingWycked · 09/10/2021 09:19

There was so much hype around Emma, it was almost guaranteed she would go out early with all the expectation on her. Hope it will be just be a step on the road for her.

Andy did clarify about the trainers, he had 3 pairs with him. 2 stinky pairs left under the car & one worn out pair. He wears Under Armor shoes but I'm not sure if he has a deal with them.

ChessieFL · 09/10/2021 10:31

I do hope the media doesn’t ‘turn’ on Emma now. Despite being a grand slam champion she’s still so inexperienced on the tour so needs time to grow into it and there will be losses along the way.

I see Cameron is playing straight after Dan tonight and then Dan is back in the doubles straight after Cameron’s match finishes! Dan’s match against Nishikori won’t be easy.

ChessieFL · 10/10/2021 07:16

Pleased both Dan and Cameron won, although Dan and Neil lost in the doubles. Not surprising really, Dan’s singles match was a three-setter and there was only one match between that and his doubles match!

kazzaD66 · 10/10/2021 10:12

No, the order of play committee weren't very kind to Dan or Neal, especially when it's so hot there!

Nice little exchanges between Andy and Iga Grin

ChessieFL · 10/10/2021 10:13

I saw that! Did they end up hitting together?

ChessieFL · 10/10/2021 10:15

Just seen that they did! The time zones confuse me.

Fizzywinegum · 11/10/2021 07:44

Good win for Andy against Alcaraz - I watched a bit of it (including Andy’s underarm serve) I’m not really a fan of the underarm serve - I know they’re allowed but they just seem a bit sneaky (and remind me of Kyrgios!)

It looked very hot in Indian Wells - one man had brought his own garden sized parasol to sit under!

kazzaD66 · 11/10/2021 08:33

I saw the last set. It does look incredibly hot Blush I don't like the underarm serve much but, when Andy explained why he did it, it does make sense Hmm I'm not sure many players are particularly fond of the very slow courts.
