My plans to watch anything were scuppered by a headache and falling asleep. So- I have just switched on and am quite surprised by the score. I said I didn't mind who won, but I was swaying more towards Daniil ( due to him catching up Djok).
And Mahut/PHH won. Looked very close at the end.

I didn’t realise the final was on so early so just caught the last few games - was a bit of a surprise after his late night against Djok but well done Sascha!

I’ve made a Christmas cake today - it’s been in the oven for hours . I’ve never made one before so not sure if this is normal …

And well done to Sascha. Hopefully, he will do better after winning it than the last tme

From the little I saw, Daniil didn't do much wrong, but Sascha was clearly in the zone. No issues from playing so late. Maybe it even helped him.

They have a very close head to head- Zverev lead for ages, Daniil has won the last 5 matches, before this.

Seems ages since the match against Matteo.

I was caught out by the time, Fizzy- in my head, it started at 5pm (our time) but clearly not. .

Good luck with the cake- it's not something have ever attempted (and my oven would cremate it or leave it raw- no happy medium ).
I used to bake a lot as a child but I never do now, nothing ever seems to work!

I was going to say, that's it for tennis for a while- but I'm not sure where Davis Cup will be shown.

It will be the Australian Open before we know it-and the ATP Cup- and that scares me, because it really feels like yesterday they were on (and I was tearing my hair out, home schooling DD2 ! ).

I've only made a Christmas cake once and never got round to icing it. It was quite nice but I lost the recipe which was from Prima magazine I think. We still have no proper oven just a small portable one. Christmas will be interesting

Apparently the lower ranked player is supposed to sit in a certain chair but Sascha ignored this last night and tonight - Roger also used it as a tactic against Djok - I’ve never heard of that before!

I don’t even really like Christmas cake - it’s been in for five hours now! It’s coming out soon whatever - I’ve had enough if it now!

I think I just liked the idea of feeding it with brandy every week - maybe I’ll just feed myself with alcohol instead!

I just like the marzipan which I didn't even put on mine!

I never heard about the chair thing but I have no problem with Sascha playing mind games with Djok.

I do know that last night they mentoned he usually makes Djok wait for the coin toss-which he doesn't like.

I don't like fruit cake and I hate marzipan but I always make a Christmas cake for DH and DS, although I haven't got round to doing one yet this year. I've always used my nanny's recipe, which she passed to my mum, who then passed to me! Same with my Christmas pudding recipe, although I don't need to make any this year, as I have two left from last year
The recipes are at least 90 years old, maybe more if nanny got them from her mum, but they still work!

Some of the Davis cup matches will have to be played behind closed doors in Austria because of the lockdown - I need to get my head around the Davis cup as I’m not quite sure what is going on!
