I am watching Bake off (DD2s choice after a hospital trip this afternoon)- and Matteo is not playing tonight, Sinner has taken his place. Great opportunity for him, but very sad for Berrettini.
I'm sure he will be back next year. (I hope the injury doesn't end up being a recurring thing).

not watched much of the doubles- but I'm a bit torn today, because my favourites Mahut and PHH are playing Salisbury and Ram later. I'd love Joe Salisbury to end the year with a big win. I'm not really into the whole Brit supporting thing, I just like who I like- but I think Joe gets very over looked, as a British player.

ooh! Norrie is taking over from Tsitsipas tonight- we did wonder if he would get the chance to play as the second alternate.

Shame he isn't playing instead of Djok but it's a big opportunity for him. He's playing my mate Casper, and it is probably a pretty even match up I think.

The complicated 'who wins what, how' thing has reared it's head again- so -if Djok wins this match, having won 2 matches, he automatically goes through to the semis.

But- if Rublev wins- and he will also have won 2 matches -- he doesn't automatically go through- because one of his wins was against Stef, and he withdrew?

I'm so confused.

I ended up having to score watch- it seemed close- and then suddenly, Djok had won the set.

The alternates are having a good year aren’t they? They usually spend the week kicking their heels (and probably watching Netflix!)

I haven’t been able to watch much - quite a few of the matches seem to have been close - I still don’t understand the scoring system (I’m not sure that anyone does!)

I’m going to see the King Richard film on Friday - it’s about Venus and Serena’s Dad - I’ve managed to persuade DH to come - I just told him that Will Smith was in it (he’ll probably fall asleep anyway!)

I can't remember the last time both alternates were used. I remember Goffin (I think) playing when Gael withdrew. I'm sure there have been other years- but that one stuck in my mind because he (sadly) got comprensively beaten by Djok. David qualified in his own right the following year though. (He beat Rafa in the only match he played that year).

I hadn't heard of that Fizzy. Hope it's better than other tennis based films! Downton trailer came out yesterday. Can't wait to see it but it's not until March.

I think I might go and see the new Spiderman film with DD1 when it comes out. I am really not a Marvel fan- but I loved the last Spiderman film (having never seen any of the others) when I took her to see it.
But she is now a moody 15 year old who only tolerates me in small doses so I would probably have to sit at opposite sides of the cinema. Or a different screen altogether .

Yes Raahh I don't know why it didn't win an Oscar (actually a lot of Oscar winners are shite so it really should have)

I didn’t know there was another Downton film Jane - don’t think I’d persuade DH to see that (even though he’s in it )

The only films out at the minute seem to be Marvel films Raahh - hope your DD agrees to see it with you (ours still usually come out with us if we are paying!)

I went to the last one by myself and DS1 who has no sympathy for anyone ever said sadly it doesn't seem right you going to the cinema on your own

I quite enjoyed being on my own until some annoying woman turned up and sat in my row which I had all to myself and started crunching loudly

Fizzy yes, paying for it, and the offer of food usually sways things. She might take pity on me, because i think it comes out around Christmas, and it is my birthday (and it's my 50th) in that pesky bit between Christmas and New year. I might be able to guilt trip her into coming with me. .

Or I might just let her go with her mates. I'm not a complete ogre .

We saw Frozen 2 on NYD, 2020- the last time I went to the cinema, before all the lockdowns and stuff happened. It was rubbish- but it made a change.
