New thread, looking forward to finale, but wishing it really was the last episode, with all storylines and characters ending satisfactorily.

Ever since the June and Serena meeting where June screamed that Serena's baby would die in her womb, I've thought that June was going to somehow get the baby.

Now my prediction is that Fred gets free, Serena does not.

Serena gives June her baby to raise.

June exchanges the Waterford baby for Hannah.

AlohaMolly · 19/08/2021 08:11

So… do we think Fred is going to flip on Nick? He must be pretty high up on the list of ‘bad’ people if there’s no consideration of immunity for nick!

Blizy · 19/08/2021 10:18

I have t had the chance to watch any of this season yet, does anytime know where I can get episodes 1-3? I can only find it from episode 4 on more 4.

Motherrunner1 · 19/08/2021 11:07

Prime ?

NewYearNewTwatName · 19/08/2021 11:10

Blizy Thats a shame all4 not having them. You can find them on prime, but you have to pay £2.50 per episode 🙄 or by the season

I've watched them all for free on Prime? Well, included in the subscription.
ElephantOfRisk · 19/08/2021 11:53

I can see all episodes available on channel4?

JaninesEyePatch
that's strange, I only went to check if prime had them before posting a reply, and it only offered it in HD for the price per episode or season. mind you I find prime pretty hit and miss on what comes free and what they want extra for.

SoupDragon · 19/08/2021 13:05

I can see all the episodes on the All4 app too.

Does Nick actually want to leave Gilead? He's always been an ambiguous character, difficult to know his real motivations.
BIWI · 19/08/2021 13:33

I doubt he wants to leave Gilead - certainly not for Canada, as surely he will be classed as a war criminal there?

Theredjellybean · 19/08/2021 13:34

Why would Serena be allowed to give her baby to June?
I think Fred's character always had a plan to go free but not back to gilead.
He encouraged Serena to write a book after he realised return to gilead was not going to be the heroes welcome he hoped.
I think his ideal is him free but Serena in jail, he would then get baby... He is father after all, and exonerated of crimes then there would be no legal reason he wouldn't get the baby.
I think then he could return to gilead... Get nice new docile young wife...
Or he leaves for neutral country and starts life again

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 19/08/2021 14:03

Oh yes, maybe the "betrayal" from the Last Supper isn't Tuello and June.

Maybe it's Fred scapegoating Serena.

He bloody would too.

So, who's the death? Has to be one of the main characters to keep our interest for the tricky season 5. Someone who's loss turns everything on it's head.

Nick, Serena or Fred, I reckon.

AmazinglyGraceless · 19/08/2021 14:27

Why would Serena be allowed to give her baby to June?

Why wouldn't she?

EBearhug · 19/08/2021 14:28

I don't think it'll be Serena, because there's too much good storyline to come around the baby and if she will be allowed to keep it, and also where she'll end up living.

If Nick went, that could really mess up communication lines - news about Hannah, but also it sounds like he is involved in a lot of resistance and so on. Plus what it would do to June when she heard.

But I reckon it will be Fred, and June will be accused of killing him, and it won't actually have been her, and we'll start next season with her in a Canadian prison.

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 19/08/2021 14:54

June is hardly in a position to adopt a baby for one - I'm sure even in Canada post war they would have some kind of assessment for potential adopters.

Would make a lot of sense if it was Tuello considering what June screamed in his face at the end of the last episode.
ChequerBoard · 19/08/2021 15:03

I'm hoping the Last Supper reference.means that Janine & Esther will join forces to 'betray' Aunt Lydia.

Meanwhile in Canada there is no way June will let the Waterfords walk free. I suspect the Gilead survivors group from the library will be activated...

theneverendinglaundry · 19/08/2021 15:27

I'm so excited for Sunday! Going to get my 5 year old up early and keep her busy so she goes to sleep quickly that evening!!!

Breathmiller · 19/08/2021 16:11

I do hope Emily doesn't kill anyone. I just feel she wouldn't cope with going back there. She seems so fragile. Like she just needs a quiet life. Or maybe she can't have that anymore and she will find her fury again. But, I feel that would be sad somehow. I'd like her to find peace. Peace with the things that happened to her and peace with what she had to do to survive

Breathmiller · 19/08/2021 16:11

But life is messier than that really.

goinggently · 19/08/2021 17:25

Is there any remote possibility that June might die this episode? And that Esther could be the next handmaid we start to follow in subsequent seasons.... I guess that would have been too big a spoiler to miss and is pretty far fetched!

I can imagine Fred and Serena being released into Canada and stirring up support for an uprising there. He's already encouraging her to publish again and there's a groundswell of support around them... would create interesting tensions in Canada for the next season

Crinkle77 · 19/08/2021 17:32

@vivariumvivariumsvivaria

I've just realised - the little photo of Hannah that June found in Luke's box, that was the same image as one of the the big photos in the folder that Nick handed to her.

So, the "friendlies" that Nick talks to must have links to Canada and be reliable?

Who are they? The Martha's he spoke to about June? Would they have access to cameras? Commander Lawrence? Has he seen hannah and that's why he's telling June she's fine?

I can't believe that he just stuck that photo in a box of other papers and stuff. You think he'd want to keep it somewhere safe even if he couldn't bear to look at it.

There's no way Fred will return to Gilead. Putnam made it clear they don't want him and he wouldn't have any power anymore. He'd be an econoperson at most or would probably end up on the wall.
