New series starts tonight Smile I follow it as it's my old colleagues and job!

@Toddlerteaplease

I did wish that they'd edited out the sound where the poor man went to sit with his partner. It seemed very intrusive.
The production team do not ask permission before they air people's voices.
MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 03/09/2021 19:21

Caught up with last night's episode. Felt so sorry for the people who have mental health problems. The image of the young man -who had photos of his late mom around his room- just looking out of the window made me cry. And the call handler who used to be cabin crew was so lovely and sounded really compassionate. This programme is compulsive viewing!

the80sweregreat · 03/09/2021 20:03

It's a brilliant programme.
Those paramedics are true angels.

MeredithMae · 03/09/2021 21:26

A really hard episode this week addressing mental health. So sad about the man who went in front of the train.

Clunt · 03/09/2021 22:40

@FakeTanandProsecco Thankyou for the explanation.. maybe in non covid times she would be admitted for observation but they weighed up the risks and sent her home. Whatever the reasoning I’m glad her and baby were well and the ambulance crew so bloody lovely! Not a job I could do.. I have such admiration for them all

Toddlerteaplease · 04/09/2021 16:22

@KateyKontent I think they have to ask permission. We had a filmcrew on my ward when they filmed hospital. We had t sign a consent form to be filmed and could request to be blurred out. I imagine retrospective consent was obtained as it would r be appropriate to ask during the emergency.

KateyKontent · 04/09/2021 17:14

Without any doubt, the programme showcases important work of the NHS, their work is incredible and they do a tremendous job.

@Toddlerteapleasehe staff involved may sign a release. The people involved do not have that option. Even if permission is withdrawn after the fact, their voices are still used.

The camera crew run into awful.situations with the ambulance staff. It is really difficult. As important as it is to showcase the work of the NHS, these are real families at the worst time of their lives.

purpleme12 · 05/09/2021 23:59

The cat was so beautiful.

Was really surprised about them bringing food to people

Toddlerteaplease · 08/09/2021 09:11

I was a bit puzzled by him
Not knowing her name though.

Maassi · 08/09/2021 09:16

Fab show, but doesnt remotely show how dark and twisted our sense of humour is. I think Joe public would be horrified at what our coping mechanisms need to be. Or the toll the job takes on ambulance crews.

@Elderflower14

Is it me or was that son selfish? If it was my Mum I'd be there in a heartbeat....
I haven't seen this yet, but it's on my to do list..

The problem is that as outsiders we have no idea of the family dynamics. My husband didn't rush to his mum's side when she was dying either. There were very, very good reasons for that. Not everyones's elderly parents are lovely and some are positively toxic. That might just mean that they end up dying alone without family around them.

Just thought I would mention other possible scenarios than an uncaring son.

knittingaddict · 08/09/2021 13:39

@Fluffmonkey82

No they never said unfortunately.
I think that's one of the problems with Ambulance and one I've noticed before. I get really emotionally involved and then sometimes you don't get an outcome. Other programs do tend to let you know what happened and I prefer that.

Watched Bringing Out the Dead the other day, that probably brings it out more.
Nsws2015 · 09/09/2021 13:55

Me and my 15 year old daughter love this...its actually inspired her to want to work in the ambulance call centre (and potentially become a paramedic!)
I can't wait for it tonight...although I have a 16 month old who gets up at 5am so I'll be watching tomorrow with my cuppa and brekkie after he has gone to granny's for the day 🤣

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 10/09/2021 12:08

Did anyone watch last night? Just caught up, and in tears as usual!

Imran seems such a lovely guy; I hope he gets back to his dream job.

User135644 · 10/09/2021 12:38

Yes, another good episode. Imran was great. The emergency workers come across so well.

Excitedforxmas · 10/09/2021 23:59

That poor man who didn’t want to go to hospital as he said you never come home. He passed away

minichocs · 11/09/2021 18:12

@Excitedforxmas I had a proper cry when they did the final updates. He was right, he went into hospital and never came out. Fucking covid.

purpleme12 · 11/09/2021 23:15

Just watching it now I felt really bad for the man who had loads of blood from his foot he was just so scared 😞

purpleme12 · 11/09/2021 23:19

Were the military joining cos the ambulance service were short staffed? But there are 3 ambulance people in this ambulance and there aren't normally

When they say they use agency staff is it like bank staff? I mean they'd have to already be trained in this job to be called in when they don't do it normally. I just wondered how it worked. Cos it doesn't sound like they're employed by the ambulance service, those ones

purpleme12 · 11/09/2021 23:33

Oh it's just explained why the military are there

purpleme12 · 12/09/2021 00:02

So sad about Kenneth 😥😥

It was lovely hearing Imran's honesty. What he was saying about worrying about what you're saying and causing someone's death is exactly why I don't feel able to apply. I don't have the confidence.
I would worry about doing it wrong when there's so much riding on it
It seems really sad that he couldn't do his job anymore 😞

minichocs · 12/09/2021 16:11

I missed the bit about Imran- why did he leave the airport?

purpleme12 · 12/09/2021 16:14

He was flight attendant and was made redundant because he worked for Thomas Cook
