Evening Brew Cake
Setting up the bingeing thread which, same as last year, works parallel to the concurrent one which is TV pace.
This thread is for those of us with no willpower to discuss the whole series freely.
Episode 2 with the loose women references and Pat/Kitty's dance routine was joyous was my favourite from the six.
But the whole series works - whether it's willy-shaped chess pieces or butt jokes. It's just a lovely ensemble. I also thought Mary had better lines/more to her part this time around.

@LemonViolet

Maybe Stone Age Britons made “chips” with some other root or tuber Smile
But they would also need a pan that could heat oil / fat to a high temperature. I would have thought you would need metal for that. Does anyone know what was available?
LemonViolet · 14/08/2021 13:28

Oh good point. Would roasting a root on a stick over fire count as a chip?

cushioncovers · 14/08/2021 22:08

Watched it all in two days. Loved it.

sashh · 15/08/2021 02:13

Poor Robin

Pebble21uk · 15/08/2021 12:26

Loved it as always... such great writing. Almost beginning to wish that's what the afterlife will be like - I think I could deal with it being like that!!!!

Robin always has and always will be my favourite character. It's his innocence!

I found myself wanting Mike to be able to see the ghosts just for a moment. I don't want him to be able to see them as Alsion does, but just to give him a tiny insight.

And, am I being stupid here... but how did Alison and Kitty get the photo of themselves together at the the end?

AgnesWaterhouse1566 · 15/08/2021 12:42

Huge, huge fans in this house. Have watched them all once but have watched the first two series about eight times now so there's bound to be more.

Love Pat, he's such a sweet character and yes to the Captain although I'm clearly not his type.
Mary has provided this household with 'a simple lobster hat' as a thing when deciding what to wear. 😁

Mind you I'm now going to have to rewatch the Vikings song. Plus the Airman one. It's a good use of a Sunday afternoon 😍

SuburbanCrofter · 15/08/2021 13:13

Just finished bingewatching!

some favourite moments:

Julian changing Mike's e-mail to say 'boob' and 'anal'
Kitty and Pat's dance moves
Butt Ho
Everything Robin says and does Grin
There's just an incidental moment when they are talking about their dreams, Mary announces 'I has a strange dream', and someone (Julian?) mutters 'strap in.....' Grin
'You see, that's why I won't have swords in the house'

Lots more!

Bloodypunkrockers · 15/08/2021 13:22

Some memorable bits for me

Robin saying that Fanny must be having an affair with someone in the room. Someone says "or the Captain" and he just says ":Someone in the room"

And yes and.......which were now saying

And Humphrey listening to his wife say English is ugly. When she leaves he says "is AN ugly language". My kind of pedant

Bloodypunkrockers · 15/08/2021 13:24

But the dream bit is pretty scary. I had to fast forward that bit on rewatching

kurtney · 15/08/2021 13:43

And, am I being stupid here... but how did Alison and Kitty get the photo of themselves together at the the end?

My daughter asked me that and although I didn't get a good look at the photo, I assumed there's a portrait of Kitty somewhere and they used that (basically because I can't think of any other way).

Bloodypunkrockers · 15/08/2021 14:09

There is a portrait in the kitchen cupboard

I thought they photoshopped it onto a pic with Alison

LemonViolet · 15/08/2021 15:03

Every scene is just so well written/acted/timed etc

Rewatching whilst tidying/cleaning today and on ep4
When they’re trying to work out why Fanny is acting strangely
“Perhaps she’s unwell ”
“She’s dead, Kitty”
“There you are then” Grin

And then they whole do/do not spy on Lucy conversation between Captain and Alison.
“How did we win the war!?!”

SuburbanCrofter · 15/08/2021 16:40

Oh and I forgot the whole Loose Women scene

'there are women voicing their opinions!'

MangoM · 15/08/2021 20:04

That's what I assumed. There was a lot of chat about fake photos and photoshopping in that episode because of the Lucy fakery storyline so it's in keeping with all that.
ChoccyJules · 15/08/2021 22:40

Just finished. The last episode had me welling up as they all sat round the kitchen table.

I think it’s lovely that Julian went from messing with the laptop and annoying Mike to messing with the drone controls so Mike can now interact with him in a bit more of a fun way. I hadn’t realised he also recorded the ad segment, I thought Mike was wishing he‘d pressed play.

Loved the Zumba line. Also re. bum and chips, were they not choosing what they‘d most like to have? Can’t remember. Maybe Robin has seen lots of chips with steak and wants to try them.

I was a little worried that the end was so perfect and end-like and maybe there won’t be more…but I guess it’s safer to end it that way if they don’t know yet.

sashh · 16/08/2021 05:02

That would make sense, I still feel sorry for him not having had chips. And yes I know it's not real.

MartyHart · 16/08/2021 19:36

Just watched Bill as I needed more Ben and Larry.
Hottest Philip of Spain and Walsingham I've ever seen.

Tallpaulwho · 16/08/2021 19:48

Sigh.. I couldn't resist binge watching it and now it's over too soon.

Bloody loved every minute of it though.

Have you seen Yonderland?

If not, then Series 2, episode 1 has two particular moments that will blow your mind Blush

MartyHart · 16/08/2021 21:11

@Bloodypunkrockers not seen it but now it seems inevitable that I will Grin

You might get clips on YouTube

It's called Panic in the Streets of Yonderland.

Howshouldibehave · 16/08/2021 23:33

Just binge watched-there are some good lines! ‘Chinny Reckon’ from Julian was genius Grin

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 17/08/2021 19:29

I have binged the lot sequins

Thank you so much for popping it in my direction. I honestly didn’t think it would be my sort of thing but I adore it.

So many beautiful moments, so many funny asides, so many wonderfully observed characters.

I’m not looking forward to some of the death stories as I think my heart will break.

Surprisingly Julian has really grown on me. I didn’t think I was going to warm to him at all but I have. The Christmas episode with the baby….

I love Mary. I’m not sure why. She just really moves me. I don’t want her death story. I know her story will break me to bits.

The rest are amazing too. There is something endearing about the lot of them.

I bloody love it. Bring on series 4 please. Soon. 💜

SequinsandStiIettos · 17/08/2021 20:07

Oh, it's a pleasure Sheld. Delighted you've enjoyed it. I have an unreasonable crush on Julian. Everyone loves Matthew and Larry but
Simon's mine. Here he is as Death.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 17/08/2021 20:12

Julian has been brilliant this series, especially his friendship with Robin and helping out Mike.

Binged the whole lot last night. Amazing.

I want to be the Captains pillow. Blush
