This conversation has taken a very odd turn...!

So - do we think June will claim asylum and provide intelligence to Canada, or do we think that they'll send her back into Gilead on a mission? Going back in would be very risking.

Even if they fake June escaping into Canada of her own accord, won’t Gilead demand that she comes back to be punished? Accuse her of war crimes or something?

It struck me last night how far down the pecking order Nicole came when Moira was telling June how many people needed her. I wonder if they’ll send Nicole back to Gilead in exchange for Hannah.

I wonder if June will just have to let hannah go- I wonder if we were being set up for that with the little boy who missed his Gilead parents and couldn't adapt. It's an interesting ethical dilemma. How much damage would be done by taking hannah back and trying to reprogramme her to love her mother again?

Well they could but if she applies for asylum she can’t be sent.

Her birth mother is in Canada. Her “adoptive mother” is in Canada. Her adoptive/birth father is in Canada.

All that aside- do you seriously think that’s even a remote possibility? That Canada will trade children?

The thing I struggle to understand is why everyone - still seems to believe in God in the Handmaid's Tale. So many have been through horrendous things in his name, yet there's no inclinkling of atheism.

They demanded Emily back & Canada refused.

Although Emily must pale into insignificance beside June as far as Gilead are concerned.

A bit of an anticlimactic episode I thought.

And is anyone else getting fed up with the breaking the fourth wall technique? The first few times they used it in earlier series it was really powerful. Now June seems to be blankly staring down the camera in every episode.

How many episodes are left in this series?

Getting fed up with this now. Could have condensed that into half the time and added more.

And that, my friend, is the story of The Handmaid's Tale. I keep watching, although I am fed up with the sloowwwww misery of it all. And Elizabeth Moss' traumatised/angry face. I"d have totally tazered Lydia when I had the chance in that truck. Is this the last series?? Please say yes, HBO, and release us all!

yeah fair enough- they’ve jumped the shark on so many aspects of it it’s hard not to get dragged along with it!

Series 5 has been commissioned.

I'm just not as emotionally invested anymore. Some of the episodes in series 1 and 2 and possibly even 3, were really hard to watch. I regularly cried. But this is like a different series. Like walking dead vs fear the walking dead.

I think that the biggest problem with THMT is that they focused so much on June. (and I love June) it becomes unbelievable when she escapes so much, has phenomenal luck etc!
If they had spread out the focus it would have been more believable.
