june better not refuse

JayAlfredPrufrock · 18/07/2021 22:32

Course she’ll refuse.

Or she might go to regain her strength then return.

ohthatbloodycat · 18/07/2021 22:35

God, it's dull now.

Embracelife · 18/07/2021 22:36

@WorldsBestBoss

Also what is the deal with Commander Lawrence? He went from ceasefire to wanting to bomb - why? Seemed to change tack after his discussion with Aunt Lydia. I'm confused!
Aunt Lydia gave him. Dirt on the other commanders. ...he said he would reinstall AL if she give him dirt on the others. So They all blackmailing/trading off each other.
OverByYer · 18/07/2021 22:36

How many episodes are left? I really don’t believe Gilead would agree to a cease fire and allow Canada in to help like that.
It’s all getting a bit silly

Happens all the time tho eg Syria. Gilead suffering due to sanctions so is playing it off with supposed ceasefire

Thanks for this - I missed that, must stop looking at my phone whilst watching

OverByYer · 18/07/2021 22:43

Ah @Embracelife I didn’t know that’s how it worked

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 18/07/2021 22:53

Yes, the ceasefire was agreed so that the sanctions against agile as
Would be lifted. Then they made Nick bomb all the borders just before the ceasefire started. That's why the soldiers left all the food behind, they didn't have time to do anything but run before the bombs dropped.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 18/07/2021 22:53

@OverByYer it sadly happens all the time in real life.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 18/07/2021 22:54

Agile = Gilead!

SkepticalCat · 18/07/2021 22:55

Wow! Have just finished watching with a slight delay.

Janine had better be OK. As someone else said, I think she may have been seen being led away with a rescuer.

Lydia said "that's testament to..." when making her deal with Commander Lawrence (can't remember what the rest of her sentence was, but perhaps a clue she is going the way of The Testaments.

So they've all got dirt on each other - Lydia knows all about Lawrence, and she dished the dirt on the other Commanders, which enabled Lawrence to get his seat back at the table.

It's interesting that Lydia told the new intake of Handmaid's that she'll listen to them if men try to take advantage (or something like that). Maybe as a way of getting even more info on the Commanders to feed to Lawrence.

Yes AL definitely seemed different in her approach with the new handmaids tonight...

MotionActivatedDog · 18/07/2021 22:57

Was it not very risky for nick to tell the angry (with June) Martha’s that he is basically in love with her?

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 18/07/2021 22:58

I assumed they're all undercover. I think we're slowly being shown what Nick is up to.

MotionActivatedDog · 18/07/2021 22:59

I liked the line when aunt Ruth said the handmaids were nine of lydias concern anymore. She meant concern as in business- none of her business. But when aunt Lydia replied they have always been her concern she truly meant that she has always been concerned = worried about/for the handmaids. And presumably that she always will be. Expect maybe June. Grin

Thewinterofdiscontent · 18/07/2021 23:00

Yes Motion I thought that. Maybe the only way to get women on side is to show you care though. Those Martha’s were obviously out of bounds the same as Nick.

colouringindoors · 18/07/2021 23:01

Stupid ending and they'd better bloody not have killed off Janine.

TheMoth · 18/07/2021 23:08

Not loving this season. Just doesn't have the emotional punch that the other seasons have had, or the thought behind it. It feels a bit fanfic.

TheMoth · 18/07/2021 23:11

Not buying Nick telling all and sundry how much he loves June. For some women, defintely not me gossip is like oxygen. Someone tells me them. Something and they're already working out who to tell.

dapsnotplimsolls · 18/07/2021 23:12

I've been wondering for a while, where are the new handmaids coming from? Are there enough fertile Econowives who've gone bad?

GinPink · 18/07/2021 23:12

I like how they have continued the theme of 'what is freedom' from the book. The handmaids felt free back in the Gilead farm - 'maybe this is as free as we'll ever get'. Sadly for most of them, it was. Janine later felt free with the rebel man. But June still didn't feel satisfied that she's 'free'. I don't know what she'll settle for - will finding Luke, nichole and Moira be enough? Or does she just want to join mayday and fight Gilead till either she's dead or Gilead is over....or will she want nick too?

I think aunt Lydia and the commander Lawrence struck up a deal and Lydia demanded he gets Nick to bomb the region June is in. Aunt Lydia wanted her dead.

OnTheBoardwalk · 18/07/2021 23:12

I can handle the suspense but not the rubbish plot hole stories this time round

I’m very annoyed by it

I’m going for iPlayer USA for the episodes now. See you on the other side
