I know but the multiple references to Gilead's fearsome army don't make sense to me considering they can't get a hold over Chicago. Sounds like they'd be stretched if another country went to war with them.

What’s missing from aunt Lydia? Did she have a bonnet?

I read in real life aunt Lydia has lost about five stone, she looks so much younger!

Slightly off topic but has anyone seen the film Compliance? The first thing I ever saw Ann Dowd in - she's a great actress!
