Catching up on last night.

I have to say I'm impressed with Kaz. She reacted so cool and chilled and you could tell that rattled Toby, as in 'why isn't she more bothered?' She didn't blow up for the cameras or for him and that showed restraint and maturity.

And toby, by the way - what is the attraction?! He comes across as a dull little boy who doesn't have any original thoughts of his own

That's why I'd like to see her with Hugo.

I think they'd be great friends at least.

I can see Liam and Millie lasting, actually. There is a lot of sexual chemistry and they’re very at ease around one another.
I can’t figure Faye out. I don’t think she actually wants a relationship, just the career & status that LI will provide.
I don’t like Kaz, don’t get the hype. Too OTT for me and the fake accents all the time and the squealing.
Toby comes across as though he’s about 14, I doubt he has much experience with girls. Hugo I doubt has either. No game but a nice enough lad although for me, comes across as a bit too “try hard” with the other boys.
I like Chloe but I don’t think she’s that into Toby & I think Teddy might turn her head.
Lucinda is going to regret coupling with Brad. I think you can tell the difference with him and Lucinda in that he’s actually into her but he has zero self awareness and he’s gushed about kids & marriage farrrr too soon.
Jake & Liberty I find a bit dull. It’s like Dani & Jack. I think he will coast through with her to try and win.

I think new islanders tend to pick first in a recoupling?
Teddy will probably have the first pick which in that case it could shake things up if he picks Lucinda, Millie, Chloe or Liberty.

I think the producers are running the show.

You used to have to text to vote, didn't you? Which cost you something. Now it's all free - which it wouldn't be if it was a nice little earner from texts.

The stiltedness is rally showing now. There are no (screened) conversations about anything interesting - there hasn't been a single joke about missing the footie, and I really wouldn't know the interests of any of them - on a first date, wouldn't you spend a bit of time finding out someone's interests? Ditto when you find yourself in a group who you're going to be with for a while. It's such a major gap

Also pissed off that none of the girls (yes, I know they're young women, but I'm old enough to be their mother, and at least this show is pretty even handed in calling the young men 'boys') ever does any exercise.

I'm sure the fashion chain that provides the clothes will have some swimming costumes/bikinis that you can actually swim in, and may well do sports clothes, so I can't see a sponsor-based reason why not to use the pool and outdoors gym, no reason why they couldn't have access to some pre-loaded work out vids. They could (if chaperoned) also go out for a run - hard to film, but you could get them coming back in. Getting a couple of runners in there banging on about splits would probably be even duller than much of this series, but at least it would show more rounded people that the viewer has got to know.

All I know about this bunch is they seem to have really endless capability to put up with seriously dull single-subject exchanges of monologues

@AuntieStella I think I read somewhere they don't use the pool much mostly because of their hair extensions.
They do show the girls working out occasionally with the weights but it's even more boring than their chat anyway.

When Chloe came in, the next morning footage showed the girls using the gym if I remember right.
We only see a few scenes of their 12+ hour day, they probably use the equipment and swim but I guess it's not viewer worthy for the producers as no 'interesting' conversations are taking place.

We don't really see them eating lunch or dinner either but they must do!

But of a strong reaction to be pissed off for not seeing them exercise.

It’s because it would wash off all their fake tan and makeup and their extensions would go green.

Chloe reminds me of Luisa Zissman when she talks. She’s grown on me, I really like her

I think last Saturday's unseen bits episode showed the boys having a swim but not 100% sure on that.

Not swimming can’t get because of hair extensions. Good ones don’t go green and you can get them wet. I’m guessing they’re told not to or we just don’t get shown it.

I also reckon they don't use the pool due to fake tan and what it will do to their hair. Some of the girls over the years have had visible fake tan marks. So there are pale people in love island they're just covered in fake tan.

Really dislike the way Millie, Lucinda and Chloe have formed the naughty trio it's like high school. However I wouldn't be superseded if that was set up by producers too.

I don’t think they’re good ones! Faye’s were showing the other night and they’re shockingly bad. Also Faye and Liberty’s hair went green and red after the challenge where they got covered in slime.

Doubt their extensions would go green, and they can pin their hair up and as much as fake tan is used at the beginning they are all in the sun all day every day so tans will become natural

It’s just dull to see them swimming. The shows all about the drama between everyone, showing them swimming isn’t really where it’s at.

I don't mind film 20 mins of them doing lengths, but pool games, flirting in the pool, general larking about would inject a bit of fun and make it feel more like a holiday!

Wasn’t there something in previous years about the boys and girls eating separately so the producers could make sure they were eating properly/enough? Or did I imagine that/was it a load of piffle?

I did like Liam’s discussion with Millie about boobs last night, that he likes natural boobs that squish! About the only thing he’s said that made him go up in my estimation.

Did like Liberty’s boundaries that she put in with Jake, but somewhat sad that she is falling for him. I’m sure she can do a lot better, though. The old romantic in me hopes that he likes her as much as she likes him though. Not holding out much hope though…

It does feel veeeery over-produced this year.

Don't really get the backlash about the many many blondes. Most of the blondes look like they're naturally brunette so hair dye is hardly a diversity issue. They do have a reasonable mix of ethnicities. I also think cultural expectations probably limit the number of people from South Asian backgrounds who would apply or would enter the villa. I can think of a couple over the years though, Nas from 2020, and there was a guy in one of the early series. They just probably get more applicants from white, black or mixed backgrounds.
