Is there a thread? I can't find it

(Watching late due to football!)

@QueenBee52

The 'Games' are degrading humiliating and embarrassing ...

but worse... NOBODY chose Hugo.. poor guy stood there blatantly ignored whilst other guys are selected twice.. and he is left stood there like the kid thats never chosen for sports teams..

it's Crap ...

Hugo is a lovely guy but girls don't want 'lovely' ... more fool them 😏

It makes me uncomfortable that he's the only disabled person in there too, I don't think it sends a great message to any kids watching. I know it's a reality show, but they don't need to show everything.

After so many suicides I think they need to tread carefully.

vjg13 · 09/07/2021 08:53

My least favourites are Brad and Jake in equal place. I don't think Toby actually overly prefers Chloe to Kaz, he's just doing it as part of the game and because Chloe told him too. Kaz is much more attractive and seems lovely.

Rollergirl11 · 09/07/2021 09:10

@butterpuffed

What has happened this year, there's just nothing very interesting going on. Nobody seems to have much of a personality.

The last time it aired, people were talking about LI everywhere, on TV progs, on the radio, wherever you went !

It is strange, how the show and the islanders seem to be so off kilter this year. The only thing I can think that might have attributed to that is Covid? Maybe people aren’t in full swing and not used to these situations because we have been in lockdown? Also maybe there is an added element of the requirement and practicalities involved behind the scenes to ensure everyone is Covid safe are having a knock on effect on everything? 🤷‍♀️🧐
andmeee · 09/07/2021 09:15

I wonder if the cast seem so bored and serious due to there being so much production involved with the show now?

I have read before from previous contestants that they have to stay up late for filming and alcohol is very limited. It feels as though every series becomes more and more over produced and conversations aren't able to happen freely. Perhaps 'scenes' are having to be constantly repeated/reshot and the staged and unnatural conversations are taking it's toll on the cast. It could be stopping them from being able to form the relationships we saw in earlier series? I know I would struggle with all of the mundane staged conversation!

Tiw8 · 09/07/2021 09:18

What I found sad was Hugo being left on his own in that task. I thought one of the “dumped girls” would have picked him rather then ones they had been discarded by just to prove a point.

Poor Hugo.

jay55 · 09/07/2021 09:28

They really need to throw in a holiday rep/theatre student/dancer who can jolly things along and lighten the mood with throwing a sock around the pool, organising frisbee with the plates or some equally daft nonsense game.

A bit of relaxed fun and we might see some actual unforced flirting and friendships forming.

I think I'm more frustrated than usual because none of them seem to appreciate that they are in the sun, with a gorgeous pool and we're all stuck at home contemplating UK holidays in rain or not getting a break at all.

Twelvetimestwo · 09/07/2021 09:30

And they never use the damn pool!

MotherofKitties · 09/07/2021 09:31

Catching up on last night - oh my god Brad STOP TALKING!!!! Talk about ribbon salt into the wound! 😬

Zero self awareness this guy. I think Rachel has the potential to become a bit unhinged but thought she handled that well (to his face)

GrealishHairband · 09/07/2021 09:38

Yes they need a Chris type who will organise a salmon into the pool competition. God I love Chris 😂

Bonjourfern · 09/07/2021 09:38

It doesn't matter if some people think Hugo's lovely ness isn't genuine (I think it is). That task was brutal and it was humiliating for him. You could see in his face how embarrassed he was. It actually made me quite uncomfortable to watch it.

MotherofKitties · 09/07/2021 09:40

Agree with PP that Millie looks so much better without makeup, definitely looks better natural. Lucinda really does have lovely hair, she's a very pretty girl. Fayes hair extensions though... Blush

MummyJ12 · 09/07/2021 09:47

@Zampa

black girls never do well on LI

Dark skinned black girls never do well on Love Island. Assume it's colourism at play?

I disagree, didn’t Amber win last LI? Amber is a woman of colour and would have won regardless of who she was coupled with because she is fabulous. Kaz to win this one please! I don’t care who with, she’s easily the best one in there Star
vjg13 · 09/07/2021 09:50

I thought the first one to be dumped, can't remember her name now,Blush had stunning hair.

KarenofSparta · 09/07/2021 09:50

Justine on American LI was dark skinned & she won in 2020.

Tried to upload photo but it disappeared!?

Some thoughts.

It didn't go down well, but I understand Rachel wanting to leave the group when Chloe was talking about how she wanted to try it on with Toby. Can no-one else relate to that really uncomfortable feeling when a friend says something (like bitching about a mutual friend) and you just think "why did you have to say that around me, because now I feel stuck in the middle of a situation I want no part in". Going directly to Faye who blew the situation up was very unwise, but I get her not wanting to feel complicit if she is friends with Kaz.

I agree with fully with @Zampa dark skinned black girls don't do well on Love Island. It's horrible, Kaz seems lovely, and she is absolutely stunning, but she never has a chance as the boys they cast don't ever seem to favour a dark skinned girl. I said this on the previous thread, it's painfully when you get guys saying they are into blondes, tanned skin, blue eyes... then to Kaz they say their type is a beautiful smile, and personality Hmm Amber did win, but she is fairly fair-medium skinned black, and I don't think she actually had much success with the boys in there, it was the audience who loved her.

It is a game, people know what they are getting into, but LI etiquette code is to give a heads up to the boy/girl coupled up with who you are interested in, Chole didn't do this and Kaz was blindsided.

My heart sank for Hugo, that must feel really really crappy. He actually seems nice too. The problem is, yes he is very good looking, but by LI standards, he isn't anything special, which is why he is being overlooked.

One last thing I noticed which I think is interesting. If the answers given on the Mr & Mrs style challenge is to be believed Chloe and Kaz are the only girls to get nothing done to their face. People on this thread are very ready to say they don't get why the girls 'put so much crap in their face' and 'ruin their natural beautiful looks', but the girl who is called out most for not being as pretty is Chloe who is one of the only ones (and only white girl) to not have filler. Just an observation.

MotherofKitties · 09/07/2021 10:12

Poor Hugo 🙁

Exactly!!!!! My god I’m glad someone has said it, all this “Rachel is a snake” comments are so odd, I get people don’t like her but she didn’t do anything wrong there. If she sat there knowing that chloe was going to crack on with Toby then that would have made her a snake! I would have done exactly the same as her and warned my friends about it, I don’t think her and Chloe are that friendly and Chloe was foolish for saying it in front of her but perhaps Chloe wanted it to get back. I don’t understand people referring to Rachel as a snake for having her friends back.

ashmts · 09/07/2021 10:41

@SummaLuvin@PumpkinKlNG Yeah but Rachel could have gone to get a drink, or gone to the toilet, or pretended she needed to go to change her shoes/fix her make-up etc. It looked like she got up and walked straight over to Faye and Kaz. I understand her not wanting to be involved and wishing Chloe hadn't said anything, but rather than removing herself from the situation she just seemed to stir it.

PumpkinKlNG · 09/07/2021 10:58

I think she was right to tell her friends. I would have as well. Maybe not in front of them like that though tbf but I wouldn’t have kept it a secret as my (Rachel) loyalty isn’t with Chloe.

PerditaNitt · 09/07/2021 11:00

They should probably have a minimum age of 25 for love island contestants - I think it would make it more interesting with better chat.

KarenofSparta · 09/07/2021 11:02

In the past people have suggested a middle aged LI, maybe between divorces etc.

I'm sure it would be fascinating but the surgery probably terrifying...

PumpkinKlNG · 09/07/2021 11:04

I definitely think they should be a bit older, I don’t think 18/19 year olds should be on tbh. Would like to see a few more people in their 30s like the older seasons.

MummyJ12 · 09/07/2021 11:06

I think the contestants need to be a little older, the boys are just boys….Toby behaved like he was at a school disco last night!
Oh my, Faye’s hair extensions Shock I think she has other issues too…..
