@SugarbabyMilly what word should he have said instead then? If "fake" is offensive about those who have chosen to have plastic surgery...what would the acceptable way for him to answer what his turn offs are?
Well let's see, he could have like just not said it at all. And as others have pointed out he clearly is attracted to people who've had work done.

DavidTheDog · 07/07/2021 08:16

It's so predictable. A new woman comes in, she looks stunning and is full of confidence and self-esteem. Five days later her hair and skin look worse for wear and she's crying. See Rachel in last night's episode. It's pretty horrible to watch.

livingoffcoffee · 07/07/2021 08:16

Is he though? He quite clearly said Faye wasn't his type but liked her personality.

I'm struggling to see why you feel it's okay for the other guys to say they prefer petite blondes/blue eyes - but he can't say he prefers the natural look?

GrealishHairband · 07/07/2021 08:24

My thoughts on last nights episode.

Hugo knew exactly what he was saying and it was to provoke a reaction. When he and Chloe were learning about each other he said he didn’t like fake stuff and she said something along the lines of ‘I hope that comes up as it will set the cat amongst the pigeons’.

Notwithstanding that, the girls did go OTT and I agree that was a reaction to all the boys fancying Chloe.

Rachel reminds me of someone the way she speaks and carries herself but I can’t think who and it’s doing my head in. I think she’s an absolute crackerjack. Brad didn’t promise her the earth, he played the game to stay in and I think he did fancy her originally but they quite clearly are not on the same plane so unsurprising that the initial attraction hasn’t been sustained. The fact that she is unwilling to see that is a bit odd. She’s very detached in some ways. A very strange girl, I can’t work her out.

The writing is on the wall for Sharon and Aaron. She’s just too much for him. He needs someone far more laid back. I actually like shazza’s feistiness and willingness to stand up for herself.

I still like Faye. She needs a man who is going to give as good as he gets. That drip Liam isn’t him. I was also most surprised to see them spooning in bed. Seems at odds with what we have seen so far.

New girl Lucinda is gorgeous. Other one? All smoke and mirrors.

ufucoffee · 07/07/2021 08:29

I suspect Hugo was primed to say fake by producers. That's how this show works. On another note I wonder if Faye will watch this when she gets out and change her make up style?

SugarbabyMilly · 07/07/2021 08:44

Really? You can't see the difference between saying you like blondes and calling people who've had cosmetic work 'fake'?

SugarbabyMilly · 07/07/2021 08:45

You're probably right
livingoffcoffee · 07/07/2021 08:59

No, I can't. @SugarbabyMilly And he did call them "fake" he said he wasn't attracted to fake-ness/fake. It wasn't a personal attack on Faye, Sharon, etc and more than Jake saying he's attracted to blondes wasn't an attack on Kaz or Rachel.

They chose to get fake boobs, lips, etc.
I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that choice - if it makes them happy and has helped with their insecurities, good on them. I disagree with lots of PP having a go about Faye's lips etc - as if she likes them, who cares? But it is just that, a choice. And people are allowed to not be attracted to it.

livingoffcoffee · 07/07/2021 09:00

"He didn't call them fake" that should say! (How is there still not an edit button!)

ILoveYou3000 · 07/07/2021 09:03

Well let's see, he could have like just not said it at all. And as others have pointed out he clearly is attracted to people who've had work done.

He's clearly not attracted to them, there was zero chemistry. It was Faye who seemed to like him (until Liam arrived) and he even said to Sharon last night when she said that to him, that was about personality because she made him laugh etc.

They all say they fancy/like people in there when they don't to make sure they stay in.

Should none of them have answered in that game? Or just Hugo?

KarenofSparta · 07/07/2021 09:04

But it is just that, a choice. And people are allowed to not be attracted to it.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

ElderMillennial · 07/07/2021 09:15

I also don't see why it's ok for all of them to express what their type is or what they do or don't like but not ok for Hugo to express his opinion. If anything the girls have more control over their surgery than some of the things that have been talked about.

Rachel reminds me of someone too.

LadyCatStark · 07/07/2021 09:25

But calling plastic surgery fake is literally factual! They were all done over by the producers really as they’ll have heard Hugo saying he doesn’t like fairness and thrown in the plastic surgery question to prime them into being annoyed. When else have they asked about plastic surgery? I think it’s really irresponsible as there’ll now be a bunch of young women thinking that they need to get Botox!

jay55 · 07/07/2021 09:33

Of course people are allowed to not be attracted to surgical enhancements or red heads or people with big feet.

But don't say you like small feet and then choose the girl with clearly the biggest feet on the first night, when you don't know any of their personalities at all. And then go on and on about how disgusting big feet are in the presence of that woman. It's a massive form of negging.

coronaway · 07/07/2021 09:49

The other thing is surely a lot of this insecurity comes from seeing so many other woman who have had plastic surgery? If it wasn't so prevalent and more women stayed natural I'm sure she wouldn't have been so insecure in the first place.
ILoveYou3000 · 07/07/2021 09:50

He didn't go on and on, or use the word disgusting. He wrote the word fake twice in answer to a question, he also stated he meant fake in terms of personality as well.

Also, from the original 'choices' he had only Kaz has had no enhancements/surgery and there was clearly no attraction between either of those two towards one another so what else should he have done? Refused to choose because there was no one there who was his 'type'? Didn't he end up on the 'subs' bench therefore not really having a choice?

I don't think he ever claimed to fancy any of them did he?

paniniswapx3 · 07/07/2021 09:59

What disability does Hugo have? I've seen it referenced on these threads & also in the media earlier but I'm not aware of him having one?

FWIW, I agree with Hugo & actually think it's great if young women are watching & hearing that not all guys are attracted to people who have had plastic surgery.

Nothing against Faye or any of the others who have had plastic surgery as their body, their choice but it's not a guarantee that everyone will find them attractive & some might find it a turn off (which is entirely their right).

Hugo did no more wrong than any of the other guys but agree with those saying he bore the brunt of their anger at the guys all saying they fancy Chloe. I don't think Faye is mentally strong enough for the show as she is so full of insecurities. Sharon seems much more mentally strong but Faye doesn't seem to be able to handle not being the object of everyone's (anyone's!) affection.

Meltinthemiddle · 07/07/2021 10:03

Sorry just joining the thread. Completely blown out of proportion by the girls. Hugo meant fake personality not just looks. To be honest all the fake surgery they have had at such a young age is sad and I feel many young girls will be aspiring to be like them. They need more natural men and women.

Willwebebuyingnumber11 · 07/07/2021 10:04

I think the fact Chloe is all the boys favourite and she’s the most natural looking, bar Kaz, speaks volumes and will hopefully make young girls think twice before choosing cosmetic surgery.
Molly-Mae has since has her filler removed and she looks much better. She has a very big fan base so that may have a big impact.

Small boobs are actually “in” now if you look at a lot of the fashions.

Faye can try and justify her boobs all she likes, if she wanted them that’s absolutely fine. I also want mine doing. But I’m under no illusion that they aren’t fake?! Of course they’re fake!

KarenofSparta · 07/07/2021 10:09

Willwe

I find that attitude depressing too tbh.

Smaller are boobs may be more 'in' now but there are many slim women/girls with naturally big boobs too.

It's not small OR fake and no in-between.

KarenofSparta · 07/07/2021 10:12

Are

BlueCupOrangeCup · 07/07/2021 10:17

Aaron (?) said he doesn't like hairy arms. That's not a great thing to hear if one personally has hairy arms.

A lot of guys have a thing about 'cute feet'. Not a great thing to hear if one's feet have blisters, bunions, corns, hammer toes, sporting related uglies etc.

Hugo doesn't like the fake look. Not great to hear if one has personally sought the fake look with boobs, lip fillers, tons of make up, hair extensions etc

Nobody in any of the scenarios above is wrong. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

The girls were already sore after the Chloe selection by all of the boys. They then projected their own triggers/insecurities onto Hugo (easy target?).

It was cruel and grim to watch.

Dancingonmoonlight · 07/07/2021 10:19

If Hugo had said ‘unnatural’, would they still be offended? It’s the same thing and he is entitled to find procedures unattractive. Most of the posters on this thread think the ‘fake’ girls look awful.

Is it a UK thing to have so many procedures? It is very sad to see young women talking about crying so hard that they had small chests that their parents bought them bigger chests for a birthday present. It’s mind boggling, These kids need assertiveness classes and a change of environment and friends if they are so affected by cosmetic issues.

Willwebebuyingnumber11 · 07/07/2021 10:22

@Dancingonmoonlight it’s mind boggling isn’t it.

BlueCupOrangeCup · 07/07/2021 10:30

I wondered that same thing Dancing.

If he had said (in response to the personality traits bit) "not genuine" or "inauthentic"

And in response to the physical traits bit "unnatural"

Would the girls' reaction have been the same.

Probably not.

Everyone could have been left to their own interpretation of looking 'natural' in their heads and the evening ended nicely 😂
