Actor ‘drinking’ from a take out ‘cup of coffee’ which is SO obviously empty!! Even just carrying them, it’s clear that are full of fresh air!! No one in ‘real life’ can grab a coffee and take a gulp (as if it’s a shot) If so I’d be getting my money back for a near empty coffee 😆 It drives me around the bend and can totally distract me whilst watching great telly!! Top tip to actors/ directors....just fill it with water it will make a huge difference- well to me anyway 😂 Anyone else feel the same or have any other annoying distractions whilst watching TV/Films?

Hair cuts! Why are they never commented on, especially drastic ones? How much airtime would it take to say ‘oooh Susan, I love your new buzz cut/blue hair’ or whatever!

Agree with PPs re meeting people later.

‘Yes, let’s go for dinner. See you at 7’. Where FFS? Or is there just one restaurant in Albuquerque? (Looking at you, Better Call Saul).

@UhtredRagnarson

I love in shows when they have a plate of food in front of them and they can’t eat it because they do so many takes so they have to sit playing with the food with their fork, just poking it around the plate. Some good scenes in friends where chandler does this Grin
I came on to say this! Made me think of Howard in Big Bang - he always does this. Very, very occasionally they will eat an ant-size piece from the fork (this could make the world's slowest drinking game)!

I always love Homes under the Hammer where they have the estate agents round to re-value the place and they make them look all thoughtful while opening an empty kitchen cupboard.

My personal bugbear in soaps...Any couple who wants to have a baby will have issues conceiving no matter what they try...random couple has one night stand and tada she's pregnant!

Also...when people have sex, then carry about their day without having a wash.

And...going to sleep and waking up with a full face of makeup, fake eyelashes, perfect hair. They'd be foundation and mascara all over my bedsheets!

ThePontiacBandit · 14/05/2021 23:42

bonfireheart - are you a James Blunt fan?! I agree pregnancy is almost always accidental. Infertility story lines generally have a made up medical condition, that magically results in pregnancy regardless. As someone who has Endometriosis and had fertility problems, I would love a proper fertility story line to highlight actual issues..but I guess that would be too pedestrian?!

bonfireheart · 14/05/2021 23:46

Who isn't a James Blunt fan?! Wink

ThePontiacBandit · 15/05/2021 09:42

Err quite a few people sadly! I love him though!

joystir59 · 15/05/2021 10:14

"Would you come for dinner with me this evening?"
Where? When?

CharityDingle · 15/05/2021 17:43

@Blubbergalore

What gets me is on any police drama whenever the police turn up to speak to somebody they always continue with whatever they were doing or get the police to follow them around whilst they carry on working/walking whatever. Would that ever really happen?
I was just about to post exactly this. They keep going, and it's especially effective if they are something like a mechanic/ working in a garage. They don't even pause, just slide under the car, and give the police not an ounce of notice. Grin

Cain Dingle in Emmerdale, was an expert at that. Then again, he was almost permanently being questioned by the police about one thing or another.

When I used to be on stage, we had to drink and eat. Very difficult. We had flasks of hot water backstage to put into cups so the front row could see steam.

Whisky is apple juice. I hated it when we had to eat something. A fellow actor choked once on stage. It was ok, but scary.

On High Seas a woman effortlessly lifts a suitcase that is meant to be full of gold bullion. Come on, IRL she wouldn't be able to move it.

ChubbyMsSunshine · 16/05/2021 16:19

When they're arranging to meet up later and just say that - "later".

When? Where? HmmHmmHmm

Periwinkletoes · 16/05/2021 16:24

Every time a pregnant woman has one contration and it's 'Ooh the baby's coming' followed by a mad dash to hospital. I know occasionally a labour can be extremly short but it's quite uncommon for there to be no time to get to hospital.

SkiingIsHeaven · 16/05/2021 16:35

Why are there always stacks of empty cardboard boxes down the sides of the road when there is a car chase. There is. Never anything in them when the car crashes into them or side swipes them.

ThePontiacBandit · 16/05/2021 16:37

Perwinkletoes yes! I had a relatively quick labour (went from 1cm to fully dilated in 2 hours) but it was still 12 hours from when my water broke to when DD actually arrived. The second a water breaks they rush to the hospital...or they suddenly have a painful contraction then the contractions come thick and fast...no slow start!

NotImpossible · 17/05/2021 12:25

And for some reason they take the entire cast to the hospital with them. Ex-husband's friendship group, college roommates, their best friend's new boyfriend... rarely their actual family though!
Bluedeblue · 17/05/2021 12:47

My DH is a Police Office (and I used to be one)....the errors in Police drama's are terrible! Like an Officer doing something so ridiculous that he/she ruins the whole case and it's chances of every getting to court.

I agree with empty cups and no one eating, just pushing stuff around the plate. If you watch the original All Creatures Great and Small, they all really drink their tea and coffee and eat their bacon and eggs. I realise that in fact the food will be cold and there might be continuity issues, but it is annoying and distracting.

ShallWeStartTheMeeting · 17/05/2021 19:33

or they suddenly have a painful contraction then the contractions come thick and fast...no slow start!

It's the way they dramatically grab their stomach (complete with legs buckling) as if they've been stabbed. Makes me cackle every time.

There's also the boringly mundane issue of morning breath (or drooly face).

CounsellorTroi · 17/05/2021 22:09

If someone is somewhere they shouldn't be or has broken in somewhere, and they hear a noise, why do they always say "hello?"

Mygirlsaz · 18/05/2021 11:04

What always does my nut in and I notice it every bloody time is when someone comes home and puts the kettle on without picking it up to make sure it's got enough water in. Who does that or is it just me? Angry

MedusasBadHairDay · 18/05/2021 11:19

Anything that shows coding is always so far off the mark. I saw one once where the code on screen was clearly a code used for styling websites (fonts, colours etc) but they were apparently using it to hack into a secure system. I know they aren't going to be able to show actual code, but they could at least make it a plausible language.

starfishmummy · 18/05/2021 14:59

Also...when people have sex, then carry about their day without having a wash.

Or they get out of the shower with perfect make up (and sometimes hair). They dont get dried and their clothes slide on perfectly, nothing gets stuck on damp body bits!

clary · 18/05/2021 15:40

I love these! yy to the one where they say they will meet and don't say where or when - or exchange phone numbers!

Been rewatching Friends with DD lately and notice that they do exchange numbers and also go to the loo (not something that often happens in TV shows).

But what is bugging me about Friends is this - a character walks into Central Perk or one of the flats (not the one they live in), exchanges some plot development convo or witty remark - and then walks out again! Why??? Why did they go in there? Pick up coffee? no! Fetch a beer from the fridge? No!!
