Hope no one minds me starting a new thread as 4 was filled on one episode.

Ted has been the police so long that they won't necessarily have his DNA on file from him joining. He was arrested and interviewed last series so his DNA may be on the nominal database from then.

Going back to my pondering on

Ted->John McGillis/Corbett via Anne -Marie McGillis->the Liverpool Corbett connection->AMMcG->Jo Davidson via the photo.

Mike Dryden, also Scottish, trained at a police academy in Warrington. Could he have fathered Jo when he was 18? Could AMMcG be Jo's Aunt? Details to be ironed out.

Would Dryden's DNA be on the data base as a nominal as he received a suspended sentence, or if not in reality, could that be a slight bit of poetic license?

JaneJeffer · 13/04/2021 13:33

Speaking of cells, I noticed the toilet is at such a weird angle next to the bunk!

peachgreen · 13/04/2021 13:34

Watching it again with friends who are seeing it for the first time has been really interesting. We're only on S1E3 but they're absolutely convinced that Nige is bent and haven't even mentioned Dot. Grin I mean, they're not wrong about Nige, but he's not exactly a criminal mastermind.

BobBobBobbin · 13/04/2021 13:35

@JaneJeffer

any police officer imprisoned is automatically considered vulnerable and housed away from the rank and file of prisoners - in with sex offenders normally. So Buckells would have been nowhere near Lakewell He may be away from the other prisoners as Lakewell was taken to his cell to be killed.
...but still in the same place as Banks. Another one to add to the ‘dramatic licence’ pile I think!
Blondeshavemorefun · 13/04/2021 13:44

Thanks for new thread

Just read the old. Sooooooooo glad I didn’t see the spoiler

Thanks @HopeMumsnet

As the regulars knows blondes HATES spoilers

A spoiler is something that hasn’t been shown or spoken about on the show

So any links to tv mags /cast /stories etc are spoilers

AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 13/04/2021 13:57

it was me who mentioned that Nige could've retired to Spain, it's a proposition, not a known fact I'm afraid. When he was last shown he was mowing a very green lawn, but they do have green grass in Spain too grin
Oh I know, I’m sure it wouldn’t be him really (also it said on the info at the end of one series that he retired and continued with disability benefits so I’m assuming that means he stayed in England to continue on them. I just love the throwing out of wild theories :o still, I do wonder if the Spain thing was relevant at all though (I think even at the time the cyber expert said it could be faked anyway)

AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 13/04/2021 14:00

The list really irritates me too - especially as one of the names, Hyde-Albert, is the same very unusual name as a female senior police officer. It doesn't feel like they'd made much effort to do anything with it at all.

Whoaaa! Good spot there. Can you (or anyone) remember what that police officer did please? Very reluctant to Google in case of spoilers, on the off chance that character will appear again!

AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 13/04/2021 14:03

They’ve had a phew repeated names now then due to Greysham and Denmoor. So it could all come up again and they’ll revisit the list properly but it might just be more like a subtle hint at how corruption runs through families.

I prefer the former but alas in real life and good drama there’s no such thing as tying up ALL the loose ends 😬

AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 13/04/2021 14:04

Phew? Wtf 😳 few obviously

YerGrannysNightdress · 13/04/2021 14:21

Susan Hyde-Albert is a Superintendent in Central Police.
Background
It is unknown whether she is related to Roger Hyde-Albert, a man who appears on the list of sex offenders given to Sergeant Danny Waldron by Linus Murphy in Series 3.

Series 4
Episode 6
Hyde-Albert's picture is one of many briefly seen listed on a board in the AC-12 Building as suspected senior officers in Central Police who could be "H", the leader of corrupt police officers working with the Organised Crime Syndicate.

Hypothesising again, he could've been claiming but spending the majority of his time in Spain, you wouldn't put it past him. Keeping a residence here, taking his police pension and benefits would give him a kind of cover as well.

Anyway, it's just me speculating.

Does anyone remember, the depot robberies, one was drugs on the way to the incinerator and another was the cache of weapons? was there a big haul of cash too?

Thanks granny!

Wow that was an eagle eyed spot. I’d not thought to look at the H candidate board during my rewatch. No promotion to DI for me!

AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 13/04/2021 14:30

I’ll go with definetely just to throw everyone off the scent, jackie :o

Good point re the Spain cover for Nige granny :o I don’t want to see him back though, never liked the character 😳

YerGrannysNightdress · 13/04/2021 14:33

@AwkwardArnottDentonFumble I only copy and pasted it. I think she's too obscure to include in our line of enquiries Grin

I'm inclined to think the children's home abuse plot line stood alone with the addition of the elderly popstar and masonic cover ups thrown in.

Wildswimming3 · 13/04/2021 14:41

@IstandwithJackieWeaver

Buckells was there to frighten him into submission. He was clearly scared witless.
I'm gobsmacked about Buckells, he just seems too wet to be bent
IstandwithJackieWeaver · 13/04/2021 15:05

I still think he's incompetent and has been used by other police officers for their bent purposes, Jo being one of them. He's clearly a grubby little loser though.

OP posts:
Bluntness100 · 13/04/2021 15:32

I also think buckells is just an incompetent twat, but I’m not sure why they killed James in front of him, seems a bit heavy handed to me if he’s nothing to do with it, unless they are going to start using him.

AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 13/04/2021 15:41

I just rewatched the last episode of Unforgotten (as I’d watched the rest of the series again before the finale - will do the same with LOD) and I kept wondering which coppers were bent and what would happen to the characters in prison because they were coppers too. Oops. :o

BoreOfWhabylon · 13/04/2021 15:43

Well, it's all warming up nicely Smile

MayIDestroyYou · 13/04/2021 15:45

Surely Lakewell's murder was intended to terrify Buckells, not the other way around? There'd be little point in going to the trouble of getting Buckells put in a particular cell, just to scare a man they were going to murder straight away.

RobBeckettsTeeth · 13/04/2021 15:45

Joining in.
I started S6 and listened to the podcast with Dot, realised how much I'd missed so I've just binge watched from the beginning on iplayer.
Now I'm bereft as I've got to wait til the next one.

Can't help wondering about what will happen when HR catch up with Steve and his drug test.

Unless they are framing buckles?
