Is back 18th April. I'm so glad we are getting a series this year, I find it such great escapism.

Is anyone else a fan?

I do hope that whether Trixie finds a man or not they keep her off the drink at least. I hate to think of her as a middle aged lush telling people how she once performed surgery.

@SheldonesqueTheSecondComing

Och I don’t know diddl. Maybe folk think she is out of their league with the blonde and the clipped tones.

You’d think auntie mimi (or whatever she’s called) in Portofino would have had her spliced with an Italian chap by now. A doctor might have snapped her up.

I reckon she has something negative going on like the foushtiness. Unless she wears eau de fuckrightoff and her tights have spikes on them.

I do speak shite of course. But if Shelagh the nun can snag herself a doc...

I'm guessing it's the trimethylaminuria that keeps them away....
AtlasPine · 25/04/2021 18:55

There was an episode in one of the earlier series where Jenny and possibly one of the nuns bathe an old lady living in a slum to a Christmas carol - in the bleak midwinter I think. It was absolutely beautiful. But I can’t recall which episode it was...

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 25/04/2021 18:57

Wasn’t that with sister evangelina?

I can’t remember but it was beautiful 🥲

AtlasPine · 25/04/2021 18:59

Found it - series 2 Christmas special 28 minutes in. And it was Emmanuel 🥲

AtlasPine · 25/04/2021 19:02

Those earlier episodes were much better, though I’m still a fan.

I agree. The music was better too, some wonderful songs, now we just get background music.
DareIask · 25/04/2021 20:01

Anyone else think it's strange watching in daylight? It's a winters evening watch. Grin

Holothane · 25/04/2021 20:07

Yes.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 25/04/2021 20:19

I'm wondering if Trixie’s patient is going to die tragically and Trixie's going to develop a relationship with the husband towards the end of the series. Probably not but who knows?

ImAncient · 25/04/2021 20:31

Thinking the same otherwise what’s the point of the continuing storyline.

And now Trixie is in a dilemma.

Holothane · 25/04/2021 20:41

She certainly is.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 25/04/2021 20:53

Could you elaborate on Trixie's dilemma? I missed quite a bit of last week's episode!

ImAncient · 25/04/2021 20:55

Dilemma was about the d&c

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 25/04/2021 20:57

Thanks - I wondered if I'd missed something about the new mother's symptoms/late diagnosis.

AtlasPine · 25/04/2021 21:05

Tricia is so going to end up with that widower - good call.

AtlasPine · 25/04/2021 21:05

Trixie

StylishMummy · 25/04/2021 21:35

I think Trixie will end up with the hot/posh widower. It might be a slow burn into the next series, but I wonder what will happen now Trixie is having to leave the private practice

woodhill · 25/04/2021 21:44

Yes, can't they grant us one decent song per episode. The music mid 60s is amazing. We always used to get pop music in it

Snippets of dead end street for all of 5 bars

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 25/04/2021 22:10

Could they make Social Distancing any more obvious in that episode?

Young Nun is growing up.

I guess they kind of have to make it obvious otherwise people would complain.

I’m guessing that some couple and families must be real families. The people who were evicted and the parents of the woman who died.

Crinkle77 · 25/04/2021 23:13

I thought last week that they would end up together some how. Knew straight away when I saw the skin rash it would be leukaemia.
GreenClock · 25/04/2021 23:32

I think that the posh widower would be attracted to Trixie. His late wife had a career which she gave up when heavily pregnant not when she got engaged, so he obviously respects bright women. The attractive older doctor who spoke of women not having to do “penance” was in the picture for me too, but I suspect that Sister Julienne’s decision to cut ties with his hospital has put paid to that idea.

The difference between the couple in the private hospital and the one living in a slum was stark. The chef who’ll cook whatever is fancied in the hospital versus the free bread and biscuits courtesy of the Buckles in the slum.

The broken lift in the supposedly fabulous tower block that replaced the old buildings. I remember that from Only Fools and Horses in the 1980s too. Elderly and pregnant characters climbing flights of stairs because no one had fixed the lift.

Clunky dialogue in places, but I still think it’s a great piece of social history with some fine acting.

StillWeRise · 25/04/2021 23:43

I really wish they would leave off with the awful incidental music

Maggiesfarm · 26/04/2021 01:03

Posters on here are much more observant than me, I hadn't even noticed the social distancing!

The poor woman dying - so quickly - of myeloid leukaemia, and the homeless family, were harrowing storylines.

Good episode, over too quickly. I am looking forward to next week's.
