Oooh thanks for the heads up !

Yahoooo

SoupDragon · 31/03/2021 20:01

So excited!

claret3189 · 31/03/2021 20:01

This excites me

SchadenfreudePersonified · 31/03/2021 20:52

I can hardly wait!

Such a wonderful programme.

ASimpleLobsterHat · 31/03/2021 20:55

Yay Smile I love it - although it always makes me sad that I can’t sew. I took many attempts to pass my sewing ‘driving test’ in school D&T lessons and came away with a fear of sewing machines.

Sunbird24 · 31/03/2021 23:47

I just saw an advert for it, so happy!

anappleadaykeeps · 31/03/2021 23:49

Yeay!!! I love Sewing Bee!

DramaAlpaca · 31/03/2021 23:49

Oooh, good! Thanks for the heads up.

Els1e · 01/04/2021 09:35

😀. Just about manage to sew a button on and use the iron on stuff for hems but love this programme.

IntermittentParps · 01/04/2021 14:23

YAY!

Do people know, was it made under the same conditions as Bake Off and Throw Down, with everyone basically bubbling?

Cocolapew · 01/04/2021 15:09

Oh imagine being bubbled with Patrick 🥳

I think Esme would be a SCREAM in a Covid bubble. Well, in any circumstance really.

SoupDragon · 01/04/2021 15:17

The Christmas ones were done under a "close contact cohort" rather than a bubble so I wonder if they went down that route instead. Fewer people then though.

IntermittentParps · 01/04/2021 15:18

Yes, I'd have thought full bubble would be easier to manage. And keep the cosy huggy vibe better.

ScienceSensibility · 02/04/2021 06:05

I hope the contestants are more representative of the population of amateur sewers (overwhelmingly women) this time, and we don’t get the shoehorned drag queens like last time.

I just love to watch the skills on display, without having the BBC’s agenda of the moment pushed upon me.

TokyoSushi · 02/04/2021 06:07

🥳🥳🥳

Yy to this! I bet she loves a kitchen disco after a few drinks.

Thanks for the heads up OP, I love Sewing Bee, brilliant to have something to look forward to.

SoupDragon · 02/04/2021 08:44

I wouldn't want the contestants to necessarily be "overwhelmingly women". I like them showing that men can sew too... well, I like the range of people they have. Their personal lives are irrelevant to me.

The main sewer in my family growing up was my dad - he made my brothers' school blazers!

Agree. So what if some of them sew for drag queens? Everyone needs dresses Grin

This is so bloody irritating because people who sew for drag queens (both men and women) are some of the most talented, inventive, creative amateur sewers out there - precisely who I want to see on Sewing Bee, thanks.

I think they do a great job of casting Sewing Bee and showcasing a range of skills and experience.

Anyway, more importantly, the lovely Patrick has gone even more grey and therefore is even more swoon-worthy.

PennyFalls · 02/04/2021 10:38

Lovely Patrick, there aren't enough dashing men on telly.
Maybe the could have Drag Queens as the models this time.

I'm swimming against the stream and agreeing with Sense. It worries me that Sewing Bee will go the same way as Bake Off and increasingly showcase professionals and semi-professionals, or people who are dramatically "exciting", rather than talented amateur sewers (of either sex).

It is the very ordinariness of the competitors that has always attracted me. I have to admit that I liked the drag Queen and thought he was very talented and imaginative, but that's not what I'm there to see - I like to see Mrs Wumman or Mr Bloke who are sewing fab stuff for their family or their local Am Dram and who are often self-taught.

These shows that start off being so relatable and then just become a vehicle for an agenda, or a way for professionals to advertise themselves, or just a collection of "characters" become painful IMO.

(That's not to say I don't love a genuine eccentric - I do. It lets people, especially young people, see that they don't have to ft into a mould - but there are so many "look at me, i'm mad, me" types about and it's painful.)
