Anyone watching?
I said this last series, but there’s something about Tristan that I just don’t like. Smarmy?

Tiff is stirring nicely again.
I’m glad Fred is back. I always like him.
Looks like Sophie and Maeva will be having a few set toos, which should be fun.
Sam is doing his annoying sad puppy face.
Slightly irritated vapid Paris is back.

And Tiff has lost her rotational faeces skills. Big time.

ElizabethTudor · 16/06/2021 12:09

Oh Sheldon I’m going to miss your summaries. At least you ended on a high (unlike the finale).
These were my particular favourites:

“Lesson 2. For a couple of fellas you could easily pass for a couple of cahnts.”

“It made Jules burst into song and that should be punishable by celibacy.”

“Sheep can date horses. And will.”

Quality!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤣🤣🤣🤣

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 16/06/2021 12:12

Merci your majesty. I hope to all that is Sloaney that they come up with better storylines next season.

I feel as though I’m losing my nip…

eatsleepread · 16/06/2021 15:06

@SheldonesqueTheBstard
But why is Maeva so heavily invested in it all? It's weird. Particularly as she has no allegiance to either party.

I will miss this thread and its regular posters. Thanks to you all and have a great summer!

Until next time ...

ElizabethTudor · 16/06/2021 16:31

Maeva defo still has feelings for Miles, even if she won’t admit it to herself or anyone.
James may be more suitable. But I reckon Miles will always be the one she hankers after. Otherwise why does she care?

See you all next series. And yes @SheldonesqueTheBstard let’s defo hope it’s a better one 🤞🏻🤞🏻

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 16/06/2021 16:45

Of course Maeva still has the feelings. He’s loving it.

But without Maeva losing her teddies, this series would have been like Bagpuss when everyone went to bed.

It is all (mainly) contrived pish. Start a Barney, apologise, knife them in the back, smile to their face.

Create a row for a storyline/the drama (Miles/Inga) make it all better.

Sameh comes in to do a MN head tilt, MF comes in to quaff champers. Bazinga or Baz Inga. Whatevs.

I’m telling you though. I’ll be surprised if Miles puts up with that drawling whine.

It’d be like fecking living with a wasp. Only with a bite at one end. If she’s stingy at the other, then summat isn’t right.

sweatervest · 16/06/2021 20:48

i am utterly bereft now that it's finished. sophie is in ibiza and i wish fred would get a hair cut and maeva is a hoot and ruby is so dull. what does miles see in her? the chase? (not the programme) (i prefer tipping point)

so sad that it's all finished. they normally do a "here's where they are now" bit at the end and it wasn't there and i nearly fell off the sofa.

i could do with vogue and spenny doing a programme again. i would have thought e4 would have snapped them up. they're more entertaining than other crap i watch.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 16/06/2021 21:58

I reckon if rubyrubyrubyruby’s foof whines like her mouth whines, he’ll be too feart to pop little Miles in for a shufty.

If he braves the whine he’ll get a queeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeef something nae canny.

ElizabethTudor · 16/06/2021 23:17

🤣🤣🤣

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 17/06/2021 08:53

Or she could start whining and he’d jump right off.

I imagine that she’d sound very similar to a sexytimes doll that was deflating.

Poorlykitten · 18/06/2021 08:34

Just watched it. Why am I so sad the Duchess of Chelsea dumped her bit of rough before we had the MIC spin-off ‘The Duchess having it large in Leeds?’ I thought they were totally cute together.

ElizabethTudor · 18/06/2021 11:30

I would’ve liked their summer special to be -MIC The Leeds Love-In 🥰🥰🥰
With the whole lot of them traipsing up North.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 18/06/2021 11:46

They’d have decamped to Harrogate to recover after the Otley run. (I was always an also-ran.) no

Then had an Agatha themed party up the Swan.

And would take over Bettys.

I used to spend a bit of time there. The only things I miss about it are the lovely meals in the Drum and Monkey and Rudy. Sad

ElizabethTudor · 18/06/2021 12:20

Yes, very true. Harrogate is much more their style.
I can’t imagine them slumming it in Woodhouse 🤣🤣
Downing pints in The Hyde Park, eating chips and bits. Getting the bus into town. 😱
Is Harvey Nicks still there for a bit of home from home?!

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 18/06/2021 12:32

It was when I was last there.

I was there when it opened.

I was in my normal gear. And was studiously ignored by the woman at the Chanel counter in favour of the ladies who lunch brigade. Despite being there just before them. After they fannied for about an hour - they bought nowt.

I had a list of about £300 worth to get. (ex MIL)

I asked her for the lot of it. It was beginning to be wrapped and packaged beautifully.

And then I walked away.

I’ve not done that before or since but I was fuming.

Looks or clothes do not equal ability to spend.

ElizabethTudor · 18/06/2021 12:52

Ha ha - I had a very similar experience Sheldon in the very same shop.
I didn’t go and spend any more money in there after that.
Idiots.
I was a (not-so-poor) student at the time - hurrah for student loans!!

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 18/06/2021 16:35

I’m glad it wasn’t just me who experienced something like that although it made me think I was either stig of the dump or invisible. I’m usually or the other or both!

I hated myself for being rude to someone doing their job as well. Not a fun evening!

I didn’t go in there again either. Although I did put my ex up to their food hall.

It is all right having principles. But not when you want a gourmet treat Grin

I loved student loan day. Although I was always super sensible and bought my bus pass and paid my digs first.

It just felt nice having money in my purse!

Long time ago now though. And I really have gone a bit stig. Grin

I wouldn’t be fit to lay my c&a cape over a puddle for you 👑 Grin

ElizabethTudor · 18/06/2021 17:26

I looked like a typical student - complete with 2nd/3rd/4th hand 60s coat.
And like you, I was sniffily looked up and down by utterly obnoxious shop assistants, who then completely ignored me when I needed help. And little did they know I had all the money I fancied to spend.
I just left and went to the posh shops in the Victoria Quarter (I think it was called that).
I wouldn’t expect anyone to cover any muddy puddles with their lovely C&A cape!

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 18/06/2021 17:57

Now there’s another past blast my dear!

That wee arcade was just lovely. I don’t think I’ve bought something in there but I certainly have been there loads.

So you were a funky student? Kudos. I’ve never quite managed cool and funky.

I might have looked older than your coat though Grin

I was goth lite if anything.

ElizabethTudor · 18/06/2021 18:18

Oh yes, was it the Victoria Arcade? It was gorgeous.
Pah, no, not funky. Skulking around in motheaten (what-would-now-be-called-Vintage) junk, that I mainly picked up in that shop that was between The Pack Horse and The Eldon pubs.
Or might have been next to The Pack Horse... 🤔🤔
Fond memories!

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 18/06/2021 18:32

There’s a similar arcade to the vicky in the land of the weege called the Argyll. It does jewels.

I went to see Radiohead in Glasgow a few years ago now. And nipped into the Argyll to buy myself a memento of a fabulous night before catching the train home next morning.

I looked (again) as moth munched as your coat (which I doubt by the way - I bet you looked dandy) and I was dishevelled and knackered looking.

And I was treated like the Queen. Or A Queen anyway.

A few moons on and that wee chain is still on my neck. Platinum and diamond if you please. My once in a lifetime treat to me.

I was there alone in a crowd of thousands. And I didn’t feel alone. I felt free. And alive.

It was worth a memento. To me anyway. ☺️

ElizabethTudor · 18/06/2021 21:52

Oooh, that sounds like a lovely place. (I’ll check it out next time I’m in Glasgow)
And an equally wonderful memento of what sounds like a fab evening. That will always remind you of that evening. I love things like that. 👍🏻

VodkaSlimline · 18/06/2021 23:09

@ShallWeStartTheMeeting

Agree re James and Maeva. James has embraced his dad vibe and seems to love Maeva's outbursts. They are surprisingly sweet together. Rest of the cast is so dull that I couldn't even finish last week's episode. I have been re-watching the first seasons on repeat and it was soooo much better. All the boys pandering to Spencer and his obsession with Caggie... Grin

Is it weird that I love the fact that Millie and Hugo are now married with a daughter? It's like a reality TV fairytale.

Millie and Hugo have another baby on the way now too, @ShallWeStartTheMeeting!

This series has been terrible, apart from Maeva being crazier and fiercer than a sack of wet wolverines in mating season, and occasional flashes of steel from Paris.

Loved seeing Mark Francis, Victoria and her daughter in the last episode. More please! Could Paris and her sidekick (Robbie) ever live up to MF and Victoria's early days? Probably not but they might be an adequate substitute. Hoping to see more of them as well.

I love Ollie's one-liners but I think I'm ready for him to move on to other projects now. Totally disgusted by the promotion/normalisation of babies as purchasable lifestyle accessories, and unimpressed by the random shoehorning in of the creepy trans couple, Ollie and Gareth's supposed "really good friends". No surprise that Channel 4 Television was a Stonewall Diversity Champion when this programme was made (pleased to say they pulled out of the scheme and severed ties with Stonewall earlier this month).

Happy not to see much of Habbs and Verity, and definitely not missing Amelia, Rosi, Freddie, or Harry and Melissa. Next series will need some new blood (not Eloise though, she's nowhere near posh enough).

SophieB100 · 19/06/2021 07:59

I agree with everything you've just posted @VodkaSlimline

Rubbish series with no substance. Glimpses of promise from Maeva, but as for the rest...meh.

Enjoyed this thread more than the show, so thank you all and hopefully we will do it all again for the next season.

Have a great summer
Soph

Poorlykitten · 19/06/2021 08:04

I agree with the above about the series lacking much lustre ( would like to say substance but that’s not a word one can associate with this show really 😂)…but I imagine that the pandemic has made it very tricky in lots of ways. There’s only so much bitching a bunch of posh people in another house in the country can do….
