Steve is too honest and decent to go bad. The only way he could be turned is if he was terribly betrayed by Ted or Kate, which the series could be leading up to.

Agree with PP about Steve saying he's over wondering who H is but the gaffer is still obsessed. There must be something in that. Maybe why Kate is undercover and only Ted knows or that Steve is still secretly suspicious of Ted hence the watching Ted and Steph and visiting Steph.

I'm still gutted about John Corbett dying the way he did in series 5 and not getting his police pension and recognition. Steve was very sympathetic to Corbett and I think there will be something relating to that to come out such as Steve trying to finish what Corbett started.

@diddl

Nige was a great character-didn't he tell all, & get a payoff(?) & imm-u-ni-ty?
I thought Nige was just kept his head down and waiting to retire on full pension and medical benefits?

LOD Wiki says:

"The Series 2 epilogue states that Morton continues to serve as a Detective Constable, and will be able to retire within a year with full pension plus disability benefits. He is shown meeting with Nick Ronson of the Evening Post, receiving a large envelope of money in exchange for presumably another tip off."

I think The Caddy being from the SE was based on the statement by the officer who took lots of burner phone calls Dot in the 2016 season (Hari, played by Arsher Ali).[/quote]
I'm pretty sure the info was fabricated to frame Steve.

diddl · 29/03/2021 12:13

"I thought Nige was just kept his head down and waiting to retire on full pension and medical benefits?"

Could be, I didn't check anywhere.

SophieB100 · 29/03/2021 12:19

When they did the recap at the end of Series 3, you saw Nige with his walking stick on the wall, pushing his lawn mower up and down, and it said that he retired and was still claiming disability payments! I'd like to see Nige again, he was a great character.

diddl · 29/03/2021 12:28

He was utterly dispicable wasn't he`?

I remember him spitting at Kate & I think also hitting her across the face(?) with his walking stick.

Also I think hitting Steve's injured hand with his stick?

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 29/03/2021 12:45

Nige Morton is Neil Morrissey's best ever role imho. He was an unlikeable character, played brilliantly.

Right, here's my twopenneth:

Kate is not undercover in Operation Lighthouse, but she has misguided loyalty to Davidson because they all know she's ex AC12. She'll have known they'd be back in due course.

Farida was completely set up by Davidson to carry the can - that's why Davidson cried when she got home to Fortress Anti-OCG. She lied and ended the relationship to deflect suspicion from herself.

Davidson is in the pay of the OCG and I think they told her she needed to get Ryan on the MIT. Whether they told her to replace Farida with him, I don't know. Farida is clean as a whistle but knows too much. Probably a good thing she's been arrested as she's likely to be an OCG murder target.

Ryan and Jo each know the other is involved with the OCG which is why he was her driver after she was released. Jo cried when she was given another burner phone because she thought that once the Vella case was out of the way, without the actual culprit being found, then she would be free. We know that's never the case in LoD. Her career, relationship and life are all destroyed.

The rest of the series is going to be AC12 and Kate figuring out what's been going on. I suspect we're going to have a race to catch Ryan with someone being in mortal danger at his hands as the denouement of the series. We'll find out who H is shortly before this, but that won't be the crux of the story by then.

Plausible, but with Jed Mercurio I could well be wrong!

LutherRalph1 · 29/03/2021 12:47

But could Farida actually be bent, and was made to leave to vacate the position for Ryan?

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 29/03/2021 12:50

Oh and I think Kate is going to work out Jo is in the pay of the OCG when Jo has too much to drink at the weekend. Jo will then sing like a canary in return for a new identity and AC12 and Kate will have to unravel everything from there.

Kate will say she's sure she knows Ryan from somewhere, will try to tell Steve who'll tell her to piss off, she's no mate of his anymore and he'll only twig when he comes face-to-face with him somewhere, realises Kate is a good 'un and he'll have to rush to save her.

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 29/03/2021 12:53

@LutherRalph1

But could Farida actually be bent, and was made to leave to vacate the position for Ryan?
Possibly, but throughout the various series we've plainly been shown and told things which you then forget or disregard, e.g. Dot being the caddy. We were told he used to caddy as a kid really early on in the first series, yet it took several series before AC12 worked out it was him.
IstandwithJackieWeaver · 29/03/2021 12:55

Farida has been set up to look like a spurned and jealous lover in order to discredit her.

PrincessScarlett · 29/03/2021 13:13

I thought Farida asked for a transfer herself. So she's either bent and asked for a transfer to make way for Ryan or else Jo banked on her asking for a transfer as it would be too hard for her working with Jo. Thereby allowing Jo to bring in Ryan.

I'm assuming we all think Ryan could be responsible for Carl Bank's death seeing as he has a tendency for throat slitting and was first on the scene.

Steve is honest but he is now addicted and could either make a huge mistake or be blackmailed or both.
cathybates · 29/03/2021 13:18

Sorry if this has been said already but did I hear Hastings call Jo “Bishop” at one point?!

Piggywaspushed · 29/03/2021 13:18

Just read on Twitter that Buckells interviewed Ryan in an episode in S3 (the one where he asks for a Big Mac) so he must know who he is!

PrincessScarlett · 29/03/2021 13:24

@Cathybates if you mean in the interview scene then he was referring to the other AC12 officer Chloe Bishop

PrincessScarlett · 29/03/2021 13:27

Yes, too many officers have previously interviewed Ryan.

There's something about Buckells, he's so incompetent that you'd assume he can't be bent but maybe it's all an act to divert any suspicion from him.

I also don't like Andrea Wise, she looks shifty! But then again she has suspected Ted in the past so she's probably still suspicious of Ted.

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/03/2021 13:37

@wildthingsinthenight

I hate the bit where Jo shows the bloke in the pub her ID. It was silly. What was she saying? We are police so we can't accept a drink.
I think it was saying 'We're busy don't bother us'.
Piggywaspushed · 29/03/2021 13:40

Buckells is promoted tot he level of his own incompetence I guess! Lots of that in institutions like the police. I am sure he sucked up to the right people on his golf courses...

cathybates · 29/03/2021 13:47

@PrincessScarlett - yes - ah, ok thank you!

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/03/2021 13:59

Agree so many have seen /interviewed Ryan, they may not recognise him but would the name

ESP after Steve’s fingers

Seems to me whoever ac12 investigate they are always guilty /being blackmailed except Roz - she was innocent wasn’t she and set up - hence her dying was a real shame

Plus

Why do so many on here start watching s6 without watching 1-5

I watched all last year fir the firs5 time as people saying so good and s6 starting 2021

Still not sure how didn’t watch when started in 2012

SophieB100 · 29/03/2021 14:00

Yes @diddl
And he was involved in someone leaving a poo in Steve's car - him and Dot cracking up when Steve discovered it!

Pomegranatespompom · 29/03/2021 14:01

I think I missed the bit with the tape, can someone recap please? I might just rewatch.

@IstandwithJackieWeaver like your theories,

I think Jimmy is quite handsome

SophieB100 · 29/03/2021 14:05

I can see Farida meeting the same end as Maneet did.

Pomegranatespompom · 29/03/2021 14:07

I hope not, was so sad re Maneet.

I think Steph is now involved with someone in the OCG who will use the info she has on Hastings to their advantage and possibly her friendship with Steve.
