Loved the Jo/Kate scenes. And pretty much convinced Kate is pulling a Steve. Found Kelly Macdonald much more convincing in those scenes.

Why is the beep so long?

I think it's to make sure the tape/digital device is far along to start recording. So, when you listen to it back, nothing is cut from the beginning
