I too feel concerned about the children's safety - especially the little ones. I recall needing eyes in the back of my head when mine were toddlers. In a child care setting this ratio of adult to children would simply not be allowed.

Presumably the older play a role in keeping the younger ones safe to some degree - but I do not think that is enough.

And we do not see the inevitable trips to A&E and children being sick etc. - all part of normal family life.

The cosy shots of parent reading to child are very cute - but as I watch I am wondering what is happening to the rest of them - is no-one watching them?

SquirtleSquad · 26/02/2021 10:04

The name this is that all of the girls end with E and the "ee" sound.

Think they just run around doing what they want. Or left with bigger ones :(

@Blondeshavemorefun

Interesting they only showed the play side

Not the harsh home schooling March to June/July of last year think 7/8 children

Also Millie said she didn’t use protection, didn’t expect to get preg and didn’t worry about std as she knew him for years 🙄 and isn’t with him now , was together for 6mths

Silly girl / didn’t her mum having a baby practically every year teach her anything

And more so wouidnt uou as parents say use protection

I remember reading this and thinking the same! Her own mother should have been a life lesson in itself that unprotected sex can, and does lead to pregnancy.
VaizyCrazyDaizy · 26/02/2021 10:44

£223 odd child benefit per week, government pays £5000 odd to fund every school place, the NHS costs per individual covering birth, vaccinations, illnesses. I do watch and think they are amazing as they do bring up their family so well without frazzled tempers and unbelievable energy! I get tired just watching. The only annoyance to me as I was brought up helping out a lot around the house, is to see Mum seemingly doing all the housework - surely older kids could sort the laundry, hoover, clean? If you love babies why not get a job as a maternity nurse?

In the earlier episodes it always emphasised that the female children were expected to help with housework and childcare so I do think that they, at least used to, help out with that.

Good point. Alternatively, she's seen her own mother faffing about with ovulation sticks and constantly wanting to be pregnant, so maybe she thought it wasn't that likely?

One of the girls had her leg in plaster and crushes in one of the shots.
Surprised there aren't more injuries.

I noticed there was a camera on the handheld vacuum - they must video everything!

Turnedouttoes · 26/02/2021 11:04

Oh yes the previous shows showed a lot of the work the older girls were expected to do. The boys very much lived the life of Riley with only the girls expected to do the chores and look after the younger kids. There’s definitely a scene where Chloe is going to uni and is telling the next one down what her jobs will now be as the eldest.

That really annoyed me with Millies pregnancy. It was a one night stand with someone who already had a girlfriend. I know the Radfords wouldn’t show their disappointment on TV but they were outwardly celebrating Millie being pregnant and they’ve done loads of vlogs where they give the message that they’re very in support of the kids having their own kids.
I just hope the rest of the girls don’t think it’s something to aspire to

Anne1958 · 26/02/2021 11:09

If Sue can’t see her own situation at 13 for what it was there’s no way she’ll want anything different for her children.

Macaronirabbit · 26/02/2021 11:12

I cant imagine changing/laundering bedding for 20+ people and must be a complete nightmare if kids are ill or little ones wet the bed....but I wouldnt expect them to show sickness, illness or trips to A and E - I think it would be really inappropriate and invasion of privacy.

I am often Hmm when celebrities take pics of themselves in hospital. If I was really ill, the last thing I'd think of would be taking a selfie and show everyone a pic of myself looking rough.

FedNlanders · 26/02/2021 11:19

Oh, poor thing. Hope the surgery works.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/02/2021 11:34

I missed the leg in plaster

My mistake with e names

Just thinking about the free stuff/product placements. I was initially wondering why any company would want this family to endorse their products, when the great majority of the viewers are watching with horror at what goes on! Then I saw them unpacking their shopping, and thought "ooooh, Sharwoods curry sauce, I must get some more of that" - so it's worked on me!!!

I'd expect a psychologist would have a field day with Sue & Noel, they seem very co-dependent in a rather unhealthy way.

TheFairyCaravan · 26/02/2021 13:06

I thought it was quite funny that they had a huge Asda delivery yet she gets paid to advertise Tesco ClubCard plus. I wonder if they’ll pull her from it now?

Macaronirabbit · 26/02/2021 13:10

I was actually surprised they didnt get catering type deliveries. They must buy in bulk from wholesale type places, for the bakery and would seem feasible they could buy some stuff in much larger/more economic ways than your average supermarket supplies.

TellMeItsNotTrue · 26/02/2021 14:53

Tillie had to have the frame on her leg due to what happened when she was about 18 months old

However, they didn't make any real adaptations for her once home, the little kids were all running everywhere and the multiple dogs as she's trying to move herself about

It's no wonder she ended up falling and breaking her femur while she had the frame on 😔

I felt really sorry for her during that time, the little clips I saw - I don't really watch the blogs - she really didn't want to be filmed, she didn't want anyone seeing her leg, she was in huge amounts of pain etc. They could have waited until she was out of hospital and got her head around having the frame on, and then respected her privacy again when she had to go to hospital after her fall and again she was unhappy being filmed

WithMyOldCockLinnet · 26/02/2021 15:54

The bone lengthening that Tillie had is really challenging.

I have some experience of that.

It really requires a regime. The pin sites must be cleaned in a sterile manner that is quite demanding.

The physio has to be done twice or more a day

The nuts on the frame have to be adjusted at least once a day according to a very precise amount, and recorded.

I have no idea how they did it in that household.

It would have broken me, so all credit to them.

That sounds so challenging. I really don't see how they could have done it. If they did then hats off to them, but it seems almost impossible with everything else going on and Noel being out at work for most of the day.
Dobbyafreeelf · 26/02/2021 17:03

They've probably guilt tripped him into coming home to look after his siblings, like his poor sister who tried to go to uni but ended up in the magic pie shop.

@CovidCrow that is totally untrue!!! Noel and Sue encouraged Chloe to stay at her university but she wanted to return home. She transferred to her local university. She then decided working with children wasn't for her. Then she started working for the business.
At least one of their sons also works for the business as well.

Dobbyafreeelf · 26/02/2021 17:06

I wouldn't judge anyone who needed help from the government, but they definitely need help from benefits. They can't possibly fund their lifestyle and the excessive spending on just Noel's job.

@AaronPurr it's not just the pie shop it's the tv and YouTube channels too. Plus they are gifted somethings. They absolutely do not need help from benefits

Dobbyafreeelf · 26/02/2021 17:08

^Yes that can't be nice, your mum stealing your thunder.
Also the grandchild/grandparent dynamic is thwarted somehow.
^

How do you work that out? Sue was pregnant before Millie? Heidie is 4 months older than Ophelia! Hardly stealing Millies thunder!

@BowlerHatPowerHat That was Tillie and she didn't have an injury (or at least not initially). When she was a toddler she had a seizure and they couldn't stop it. They had to put a line into the bone in her shin. The line became infected and damaged the growth plate in her leg. So one leg doesn't grow at the same rate. Last year she spent several months having her leg lengthened hence the frame and crutches. She also had a fall at school and broke the top of her leg whilst this was all going on!
