They've probably guilt tripped him into coming home to look after his siblings, like his poor sister who tried to go to uni but ended up in the magic pie shop.

I really hope he sticks to it. It will show the rest of the kids that there is life outside the family, the bakery and Morecambe.

Whatwouldscullydo · 25/02/2021 14:09

I know aint my point was that the attention and money and maybe any change in how they do things is Based on something that is not going to last, for people who will only do it provided you fit a certain image and others are interested.

Homestly I was quite surprised given one series the drs advised them not to continue whether it was responsible of the tv companies to keep them.signed up. Was it promoting/encouraging something dangerous at that point.

I just wonder what people have left of themselves, what they have given up or compromised on or become.reliant on for people who effectively don't really care about you amd whether at the end of it all, will they be able to financially support any kind.of after care should something come out, and will the business survive or too.

tinylittleyou · 25/02/2021 14:16

I’ve always enjoyed the kids and counting programmes, they must have been doing them for about a decade now?

I find the overlapping kids and grandkids confusing! In one of the older episodes Sue becomes a grandma really young (I think about 36/37ish) so has had multiple kids and grandkids since then (has been pregnant at the same time as a daughter on more than one occasion) So it must be REALLY chaotic when all the grandchildren are over as well.

That's why their media company has 21 in the name. They said they'd stop. But we all know people who say they'll stop doing something and can't.
This point is interesting as there could be a liability there if something happened. I think TV companies need to start thinking twice about the pressure their talent comes under - we've all seen what can happen to reality stars' mental health when they are portrayed negatively.

Whatwouldscullydo · 25/02/2021 14:17

I just don't think its very fair that basically people are put into a position where it cant really end well and at the first sign if trouble they just drop them.

FedNlanders · 25/02/2021 14:19

The tattle thread is an eye-opener.

ChessieFL · 25/02/2021 14:30

Do any of the grandchildren also live with them? It said 19 of the kids are still at home, and I think three of the kids have themselves had kids, so doesn’t that mean that one of those with kids still lives at home?

homecookedcurry · 25/02/2021 14:33

I'm always amazed how strong and fertile Sue Radford's body must be to push out 22 kids, one almost every year. Old gal is already in her mid-forties and is still pushing out kids.

But I do agree with the previous pp, obviously, their income is much more than the family's bakery.

I think as one died that’s why they did 22

Can you link the tattle thread @FedNlanders?

user64332 · 25/02/2021 14:51

My guess is Channel 4 probably wouldn't let them have a YouTube channel hence the channel move. YouTube is much more lucrative and they are in charge of the editing. They will definitely get a huge amount of freebies, toys, branded products etc just for their social media presence alone. They don't need government handouts so they shouldn't be judged for that.

tinylittleyou · 25/02/2021 14:53

@ChessieFL yes I think the daughter who most recently had a baby lives at home, I think she’s only 19/20ish. She was also pregnant at the same time as her mum like her older sister had been in earlier episodes! Can’t imagine sharing the experience with my mum

user64332 · 25/02/2021 14:57

They will also get paid a lot for sponsored Instagram posts and blogs and for featuring products in their videos, that's on top of income from the usual ads on IGTV and YouTube. Lots of people don't seem to consider that social media can be a full time income.

AaronPurr · 25/02/2021 14:58

They don't need government handouts so they shouldn't be judged for that.

I wouldn't judge anyone who needed help from the government, but they definitely need help from benefits. They can't possibly fund their lifestyle and the excessive spending on just Noel's job.

Macaronirabbit · 25/02/2021 15:11

There surely must be a finite amount of people one (modest - normal standard not MN standard) wage can support.
£400/wk on food for 20 people is not an excessive amount per person, but adds up to 20k a year, on it's own. Add in mortgage, bills, clothes incl school uniform, shoes, mobile phones for prob 8 kids, birthday presents, Christmas presents, car insurance for new drivers, holidays ...then one off purchases or occassional things like replacing white goods. It would be like one persons wages supporting about 3 regular sized families!

ChessieFL · 25/02/2021 15:13

Thanks tiny. It wasn’t clear from the programme.

Turnedouttoes · 25/02/2021 15:17

Yes it’s Millie who still lives at home with baby Ophelia (and very much still lives her life like a teenager without a baby) while the rest of the household looks after her.
I find it odd that they’ve portrayed this very in control image on the c5 program which has obviously been set up by them but then on their vlogs they’re very open about how manic the household is and how it’s impossible for the kids to be adequately home schooled etc.

louise5754 · 25/02/2021 15:37

They will be great grandparents when they are in their 60s imagine all the Christmas presents 😩

CovidCrow · 25/02/2021 15:40

Fingers crossed for him 🤞

PutOnAHappyFace · 25/02/2021 17:21

I know it can be showed out of sequence but I felt awful for the daughter who announced her pregnancy and had to share the experience with her mum.

CovidCrow · 25/02/2021 18:28

Yes that can't be nice, your mum stealing your thunder.
Also the grandchild/grandparent dynamic is thwarted somehow.

VouisLuitton · 25/02/2021 19:10

I always enjoyed watching this series. But @SquirtleSquad pointed out in a thread the other day that they removed the door handles off the bedroom doors so that the children couldn’t get out of their rooms at night.
This has made me look at them in a different light. Very disturbing.

PinkSpring · 25/02/2021 19:15

I have just watched this and the thing I don't get is how do they afford all what they have?!

I saw two expensive and what looked like fairly new cars, a french bulldog, a hot tub, £400 per week on just food shopping......

I just don't get how they can do it if they "don't claim benefits". They must get child benefit for some of those children, a pie shop cannot generate the level of income they seem to have - so how the hell do they do it?!

GoofyIsACow · 25/02/2021 19:33

I haven’t watched it, I have no opinion on them really. I do worry that once they grow older people will lose interest and the money will dry up. I just hope they have invested wisely so it supports them long after the public stop giving a fuck!
