Channel 4 now. Anyone watching? I'm finding it really hard to watch and listen to. How the undercover police do that job talking to perverts all day using that language I don't know, what an amazing job they do though.

It's really hard to watch but I want to see the conclusion of the man they've arrested.

I am. Recorded so a bit behind.
Shocked not shocked by how young (and bloody ugly) they are. Is it because they start online so young?
Gross all round

LemonSherbetFancies · 15/02/2021 22:21

Just watched it. Martin turned my stomach, he was so brazen and I am now sat here feeling terribly upset thinking of another scene where the police were viewing the video of the child and the paedophile. It has really affected me badly. Please be mindful when watching this documentary. I thought I was tough as nails but certain scenes and messages from the programme have really done a number on me.

Pebbledashery · 15/02/2021 22:24

I'm not sure I can bring my to watch the next episode. I watched the first one and I literally felt physically sick. It's important to educate I think but this just goes way.. WAY beyond that. Its unnecessarily graphic.

maxbabi · 15/02/2021 22:25

Their excuses or statements they give are absolutely pathetic. Crying and acting innocent makes my blood boil.
And the police are so polite. I'm screaming you fucking shitbsg at the TV.

Skirmish1 · 15/02/2021 22:29

Unfortunately the police are polite because if they are anything other than polite they can incur complaints and allegations of misconduct etc, which can lead to compensation given to these vile, scum of the earth individuals.

lastqueenofscotland · 15/02/2021 23:03

The police have to be polite because if they are nasty it opens doors to trials being thrown out on technicalities.

Martin made my skin crawl.

@Handsoffstrikesagain

travelling, as a victim of CSA myself, I can assure you I am not a sympathiser, your comment disgusts me. Educate yourself for goodness sake. I have repeatedly said I think they should be strung up. They are vile. It is estimated that for 50-75% of known child abusers, their main sexual preference is not children but the power/control they have over them. For the rest, their may be evidence to suggest that it is a sexual preference for them. It doesn’t mean we are sympathising/excusing their behaviour, it is important to understand triggers/origin of behaviour etc so that we can potentially do something to stop it. Just like there is evidence to suggest that a large number of murderers and other violent offenders have at some point suffered a head injury that has affected their decision making skills. We are not saying ‘oh well that’s ok then’, it’s important to know WHY and HOW the behaviour potentially originated in the first place.
Totally agree with also as a victim of CSA. Get to the bottom of why as far as possible. You can do this without advocating the horrendous acts.
Whatflavourjellybabyisnice · 16/02/2021 00:27

Don't know if we're allowed to say it on here, but I think Martin had some kind of personality disorder, at the very least he was a narcissist with that 'I've been wronged, but the law doesn't apply to me' attitude.
The narrative he created inside his head of entitlement was unreal.
*NB: I know it's not a personality disorder that made him a bad person. The vast majority of those with one would not have done that.

TheQueef · 16/02/2021 06:09

They are so prolific.
In the US they did the To catch a predator show back in 2004, the problem has snowballed since then.

I'm so glad I don't have youngsters at home you can't be certain if they have a paedophile in their pocket (phone)
I know the platforms can do more but one thing we know about abusers is their versatility.
Sure there is more can be done but it's by everyone except the abuser.
If these men would just stop trying to rape children....

PlinkPlink · 16/02/2021 07:09

I'm not sure if I can bring myself to watch it again.

I dont think it's unnecessarily graphic though. This is the first documentary in a long time that has a) had a massive impact on me, b) made me think about it all week and c) want to do something about it. It's disturbing for us but those poor kids have had to live through that.

I'm not saying I'm going to be a vigilante but maybe there's some sort of charity I can volunteer for at some point.

salsmum · 16/02/2021 13:09

I just wanted to address what was said on here about 'just looks like the type' please do not be fooled into thinking there is a 'type'. They all look pathetic when caught as that's their attempts at being remorseful. These sickos will come over as a kids best friend, favourite uncle and the adult they can always rely on to be there for them... this is what they do!
The youngest abuser caught in uk was sadly female who I think was 15 when caught. One of the recipients of her vile pics of the kids she babysat for was a top murder detective 🤬🤬😵😵😵 this vile behaviour goes right to the very top which could be why it's hush hush.

Whatflavourjellybabyisnice · 16/02/2021 13:23

I don't think it's a bad thing, but I am amazed they have been able to show the paedophiles themselves.
As far as I can remember, anonymity is protected to a degree at least.
Have laws changed? It's very gratifying see them exposed!!!
However, I do feel for innocent family members that could get targeted

Pebbledashery · 16/02/2021 14:00

I bought myself to watch this...
Andrew definitely thought he wouldn't get caught!

Pebbledashery · 16/02/2021 14:01

He's was frightfully honest.

TheRedBalloon · 16/02/2021 14:11

I watched this last night, didn't watch last week's one. I felt sick and appalled at what goes on, how those police officers do that I don't know. It amazed me that Martin only got 3 years, he poses a severe danger to children.
I don't support the death sentence but I think anyone involved in this should be locked up for life, they cannot change or be rehabilitated. They are always going to be a danger to children.
Agree with a pp that there are probably a lot of high profile offenders that are seemingly untouchable.

TheQueef · 16/02/2021 14:14

He didn't give a fuck did he?
Almost relishing telling how many offences.
Fucking creature.

Pebbledashery · 16/02/2021 14:29

He didn't give a toss.. Just turned on the crocodile tears. The police were so empathetic it's almost concerning.

Pebbledashery · 16/02/2021 14:33

Martin's interview.. I just can't even find the words.

Whatflavourjellybabyisnice · 16/02/2021 14:39

Martin was a real worry in terms of danger. I think he possibly had alot of emotional neglect as a child by what he was saying and how he was acting.
He is a massive coward and narcissist, he acted worse than a toddler

PlinkPlink · 16/02/2021 14:40

@pebbledashery

I wouldn't say that. I would say they were very professional and treated them humanely. They have to. It's their job. They can be accused of things that would jeopardise the case if they treated someone the way they most likely feel.

I watched the 2nd episode today and while still making my skin crawl, it at least wasn't as horrific as the first one. That was 90 minutes of feeling physically sick.

Pebbledashery · 16/02/2021 14:44

@plinkplink I guess it's their job... I know I couldn't behave so emphatically..
Both episodes have made me feel physically sick.. Martin Latimer needs to be locked up and never be set free. He's a danger to society.

PlinkPlink · 16/02/2021 14:46

With you there... I don't think I could remain so cool headed.

Booph · 16/02/2021 14:56

Unfortunately my husband works daily with hundreds of convicted sex offenders. I have absolutely no idea how he does it and manages to keep his cool. I'm 100% certain that he and his fellow officers are working very hard to keep their true thoughts very well repressed.

Prison officers are given responsibility for a certain amount of offenders which requires them to know the details of offences and assist in the rehabilitation. It's essentially utterly fucking pointless.

Soubriquet · 16/02/2021 14:56

I’m watching it...it’s older children this time which is still shocking but not as as babies..

However it’s made me realise something. I was preyed upon like this in chat rooms Sad
