I saw a trailer for this the other evening but DC were running around and being loud so I missed most of it. Does anyone know when it’s starting please? I don’t want to miss it as it’s brilliant!

Just logging in having caught up on ep 2: coming together nicely. I'm really hoping lesbian police woman (Liz?) isn't too much of a baddie: Sheila Hancock is playing a blinder as her mum, utterly poisonous! Agree that the focus on parents and adult children's relationships and expectations of their parents seems to be key this time. Poor Cassie and her dad :-(

Indeed. It was the news this morning that Unforgotten was being moved that alerted me to the existence of a new series. I am so glad it's back - yesterday I was seriously considering stopping all my streaming subs because there was nothing decent left to watch.

Loved the previous 3 series and have just caught up with S4. Shiela Hancock is fab as the evil mother who presumably discovered the crime and is blackmailing her despised daughter.

I'm only sad that it already looks as if Cassie and John will be breaking up over dad/inheritance/job issues. He'll move for his new job, she'll stay - and throw herself back into work. Ensuring a S5!

What are they thinking? Who really gives a damn about these overindulged egotists on either side of this pointless argument?

They all think they're so badly done to, and in reality they have lives of wealth and privilege that are obscene when you think how many people have to live.

Can' they have their own channel (that they pay for) and make it free to view, and then if people want to tune in to watch them squabbling like seagulls on a tip, they can, and the rest of us can make a cup of tea, get the nice biscuits out and enjoy a good murder.

I'm enjoying it, but I think I must be the only person who isn't a fan of Nicola Walker. I think she's the same in everything - Last Tango in Halifax, The Split...... all that scowling and eye rolling.
I'm not a massive fan either but it's because of all that grinning and pausing, so I guess she's a bit more versatile than I thought. She is the same in everything

The socially distance filming is annoying me. The scene with Cassie and Sunny in the car was so badly shot not least because the constant editing between shots was giving me a headache but mostly because his window had rain pouring on it and hers was almost dry Hmm making it obvious they were not in the car at the same time. And once you see the SD, it's everywhere. I mean, Hamish McBeth got a new job and asked her to buy a house with him and she didn't even give him a kiss! Come on, at least pat him or something Grin

Oh! I'd completely forgotten about SD in filming. I wondered greatly at her coldness when he brought his good news! Other than that I hadn't really noticed it - there seemed to be millions of police sorting through the deceased freezer-owner's belongs.

I hope evil mother's carer proves crucial - I like her.

Either way, she didn't look like she was making much of an effort.

Do we think they all have a different piece of the body in a freezer somewhere? Except there were 5 in the car and only 3 bits of body.

Me too, but it's given me time to read the whole thread.

People wondering why Eileen is behaving so horribly to her daughter: some mothers just do! Maybe she's jealous that her daughter could have a successful career. Eileen may have been of the generation that had to give up work once they got married.

I don’t really understand the SD filming thing. Surely not every show being filmed now is totally SD? I’m definitely seeing new stuff with closer characters (sex scenes anyone? 😇) although I guess it could have been filmed before covid and then delayed. I’d just assumed with all the testing it wouldn’t be needed, like the couples in strictly.
