Anyone watch this tonight?

Just catching up now, it's the same show as "Your Home Made Perfect" but you guessed it.. a garden makeover this time!

It will be on iplayer to catch up on!

OP posts:

£66,000! £66,000! I just... for a muddy patch... what the actual hell.

Maireas · 18/02/2021 20:57

£66k. Bit disappointing. Nor really stunning, but maybe in a few years?

jay55 · 18/02/2021 20:57

Some labourers somewhere are counting their stacks of money.
Insane money.

TheSpottedZebra · 18/02/2021 20:57

Does he wheel his bikes up there?

Cloudesley · 18/02/2021 20:58

They will never sell the house now (if they even want to)

BunnyRuddington · 18/02/2021 20:58

I wonder what it's done for the value of the house? Nobody with small children would buy that house now surely?

Cloudesley · 18/02/2021 20:59

Why does the water look grey?

Pusspot · 18/02/2021 20:59

I’m in the wrong job.

TitusPullo · 18/02/2021 21:01

I’m excited to see next week’s derelict pool.

That garden and the flat roof on their giant extension would put me off that house.

cheeseisthebest · 18/02/2021 21:02

Omg that looked awful. Liked the small one.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 18/02/2021 21:08

Ooooh I think I'd have some reservations about the finished product. I sensed the husband wished they'd gone for the second design afterall! And it's going to look like that a third of the year when the weather's damp and cold. Even the firepit looked a bit sad - the log seats were really small and uncomfortable-looking! All my log prunings in my garden have been stacked into wildlife zones a la the 2nd design

I'm surprised the paths weren't made of a more solid material, it looks like mud?! I'm considering introducing self-binding gravel paths (using Everedge etc) for my garden, I thought they might've used similar?

I'd love them to revisit it during summer a year or 18 months on to see how it's matured.

Snugglepiggy · 18/02/2021 21:09

I liked the tress and that was it.Too many bitty bound gravel paths.Goodness know what it will be like after heavy rains. The Rich brothers always throw those paths down in Garden Rescue on a much smaller budget. For 60+ grand I would have wanted some lovely old brick or stone walkways.
I really liked the other design and that was still packed with plants and trees and a lovely water feature. Wrong choice and I really wonder how thrilled will be in years to come.

Maireas · 18/02/2021 21:16

I wonder what it looks like now, after the severe winter?

Thewinterofdiscontent · 18/02/2021 21:17

The bloke looked gutted. He did a bit of a sigh when he said “ it’s what we wanted”. He was the one who like the modern garden house at the end of the garden and he can’t even get to them without wellies now.

I reckon they could have got a load of kids round with spades and recreated that for £20’s worth of squash and crisps.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 18/02/2021 21:20

Oh god I didn't think of the bikes Zebra!
And the family are going to be trekking up and down them constantly - churning them up - especially the blokes heading for the sheds and gym equipment at the end of the garden.

I realise new landscaping is going to look a bit shit at that time of year but what on earth were those paths made of?

The water should clear fairly quickly once the sediment settles and the aquatic habitat stabilises with oxygenating plants etc Cloudesley
Saying that the state the garden looked I don't have every confidence in that pond!

Janedownourlane · 18/02/2021 21:23

Agree about those metal wall planters in the small garden...those children are going to stand up under them, so dangerous, I cant believe they did that. The sandpit was too small. I liked it for adults but not children.
Love Angela Scanlon though!

BlueCowWonders · 18/02/2021 21:23

Why would you think that? The couple were very clear they planned to stay til their retirement and much further beyond.
bendmeoverbackwards · 18/02/2021 21:34

Couldn’t believe tonight’s episode! What a mess. Looks like the before not the after!

VenusStarr · 18/02/2021 22:06

Oh my god! Why did they pick that design?! The second one was so vibrant and pretty. It was horrendous! It looks like one of those gravelly car parks with bits of moss and a big puddle! Can't believe they spent £66k on it!

GuyFawkesDay · 18/02/2021 22:09

I'm a bit of a new perennials style fan and it'll be stunning once it grows in. Tom Massey is very good indeed.

LadyEloise · 18/02/2021 23:27

Oh dear, those paths were dreadful. So muddy.
I hated the log seating- so uncomfortable but I suppose they were good for social distancing.
The pool part of the stream looked as if cement had leaked into it.
I too thought of future grandchildren and all that water !
Does the wood in the small garden need a lot of maintenance.
Both houses looked lovely.

EventuallyDeleted · 18/02/2021 23:29

66k and it looked like a rundown crazy golf course. Just awful.

BunnyRuddington · 19/02/2021 07:59

Why would you think that? The couple were very clear they planned to stay til their retirement and much further beyond

Well maybe because circumstances change and although they plan to stay, the house could very well be on the market sooner than they think.

Both me and my DSis work in jobs where we see people who's lives have changed for ever very suddenly. You never do know what life has in store for you.

Sittinbythetree · 19/02/2021 08:36

The first 3/4 of the program was very repetitive, but glad we stuck with it - DH and I haven’t laughed so much in ages. Actual tears of laughter, much needed! The reveal! And when the poor woman sat beside her muddy little —mine crater— pond and had to pretend she was pleased. And Angela desperately trying to be positive by stepping on the rocks while the designer couldn’t quite hide his disappointment. They clearly weren’t gardeners so who knows how they expected to maintain it. Also why was there no explanation about why the bridges didn’t happen and the design was so altered? The other design looked lovely, I’d have liked to see it.
I though the £8000 garden was awful too - it looked tidy and finished but very claustrophobic and cell like, not suitable for children at all. The ‘sand pit’ was tiny.
Really surprised that neither garden had any veg growing space.
