It’s back!!! Now with extra added Alan Carr!!!

Starts tonight. I didn’t find the first series until well after it finished and binge watched it, enjoyed following the thread on here as I did so but I was way behind the time to contribute anything.

Looking forward to enjoying this series hopefully with some viper chatter as we go along. Come on in, all opinions welcome!

Does anybody know where Michelle’s trousers from ep1 are from? Probably ££ but they looked lovely so still curious.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 10/02/2021 17:28

michelleogundehin.com/idm2-episode-one/

She has a clothing section at the end of the weekly blog.

TheSpottedZebra · 10/02/2021 20:18

I've done a 180 on Charlotte and her grumpy face . I really like her work. I like her blog too -informative and well written. Here is week 2: www.charlottebeevor.com/post/interior-design-masters-episode-2-offices

She really seems to like Pete and Michela!

TheSpottedZebra · 10/02/2021 20:20

Oh I've spelt it wrong- she's Micaela

TheSpottedZebra · 10/02/2021 20:49

I've now read Pete's blogpost about the show too, and I liked it also. He wrote: "As designers we also do not hear any feedback or get any interaction/mentoring from the judges, unless you are on the sofa, and even then, we don't know what was said in our rooms until we see the final show on TV. " Which seems a bit shit.

He also seems keen to state his case about the ping pong table (it was a TABLE! Just painted up for after hours whiff-whaff, and one of the judges wouldn't stop harping on about it... ), and the week 1 curtains (yes, he knows they were not great and that's not how youd really do it).

I therefore conclude that he did not win as he seems rather openly annoyed with the artifice of the show.

RandomGrammarPun · 10/02/2021 20:57

Was this really filmed mid-pandemic? There is literally zero social distancing or mask wearing whilst they are in the properties working on the design - or at any other point? I assumed it was filmed 2019.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 10/02/2021 21:00

I think it was filmed midsummer 2020. I would assume (as in the case of Bake Off) that they formed a massive bubble.

RandomGrammarPun · 10/02/2021 21:07

I guess? So you think they lived in hotels and filmed it all back to back without returning home to their families, including the crew?

I haven't watched Bake Off or anything similar, except Strictly where they banged on about how they'd made it without breaking rules every five seconds.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 10/02/2021 21:24

The right team won.

That bloody stadium seating😂

Nooooo! Stop painting fabric people! Especially using paint that's not made for fabric

Totally agree.

TheSpottedZebra · 10/02/2021 21:32

The decorators were wearing masks. At first I thought it was just the painting (remember those days?!) but no.
The blogs go into a bit of detail about how it was filmed. They seem to work on the tasks in parallel - so completing task 1 whilst prepping for week 2, and they do seem to home between 'weeks'.

showmethegin · 10/02/2021 21:50

I think it's pretty shit that they don't get feedback each week. As they are all amateurs it would be really useful to get that so they can improve as the weeks go on, and would therefore be better TV too. I wonder why they don't? Seems odd

showmethegin · 10/02/2021 21:51

It was amazing how head and shoulders the winning team was above the others #3dplans

Cocolapew · 10/02/2021 22:13

Just caught up, for some reason I thought it on on Wednesdays Hmm
Really liked the winning design, the right person went, that seating was atrocious Shock
Why does cryie man dress like Beavis and Butthead?

Thewinterofdiscontent · 10/02/2021 23:06

I liked the idea of tiered seating. Sit next to who you want, lie around if you’re in by yourself snd she was right, you could use it for photos and displays etc ( and for storage ) The big mistake was having it sooo wide and so tall. Spinal Tap, Stonehenge, in reverse.

MrsPatrickDempsey · 10/02/2021 23:14

The episode we saw filmed was in October.

APurpleSquirrel · 10/02/2021 23:34

Clearly several of the contestants had never worked in an office - tiered seating, swings & ping pong? Utterly bonkers!
The right team won, though I hated the hanging garlands.
Charlotte did really well this time.

covetingthepreciousthings · 10/02/2021 23:39

I've just caught up, anyone else think there was a ridiculous amount of plants!? They must have spent a good portion of the budgets just on putting plants on every single surface!

I liked Charlottes design.. but I couldn't get over the massive row of plants down the middle of the table that I don't think you'd be able to see over to see the people sat opposite you. I agree she looked grumpy at the end, but think she just has one of those faces.

Also, I couldn't help but wonder if the painted cushions would rub off onto people's clothing.

covetingthepreciousthings · 10/02/2021 23:40

I don't think they can be in a bubble as such, as Alan Carr I'm sure was saying how awkward it is when one of them leaves as they don't hug or anything - where as in Pottery Throwdown they all lived together so all hug!

I couldn't get over one of the decorators having a mask hanging off. I'm surprised the film crew didn't ask him to put it on for the filming. It is a bit weird as some of the decorators are wearing them and some not.

I definitely thought that! As a new homeowner who would love to fill every surface with plants I want to know agree they got so many within their tiddly budget!

Fromthegekko · 11/02/2021 07:22

covet. Yes that row of plants all the way down the centre of the tables. I’m 5’ so I’d not be able to see over them. I do love a nice plant or 3 but there was a heck of a lot of them everywhere. Unless there is a plant looking after firm employed to come in to tend to greenery, nearly office ive worked in with lots of plants around the place has ended up with very sorry looking specimens that no one takes responsibility for watering on a regular enough basis.

The pingpong table, swings and that bloody seating platform thing were ridiculous. The seating looked so hard and uncomfortable too. A little pad to sit on wouldnt cut it really. It reminded me of how much my bum and back used to hurt siting on the risers in the school hall at speech day. Grim. The right person went for me.

covetingthepreciousthings · 11/02/2021 08:07

I think a lot of them looked fake, but I could be wrong. I think Charlottes were real though.

Still too many though!

covetingthepreciousthings · 11/02/2021 08:23

Did anyone else think the dungaree doctors curtained bit with a table and the pull down paper covering the table looked like a cubicle with how they have paper roll covering hospital beds?

Maireas · 11/02/2021 08:41

It looked like a space you'd have a smear test.

Cocolapew · 11/02/2021 09:25

I thought the plants were fake too.

Yes! You can take the boy out of the hospital...
