Why did she marry Ian?
It's so bizarre isn't it?
As if 2020 hasn't been weird enough.

YouBoughtMeAWall · 23/12/2020 22:03

There must be some big reveal coming up as to why she married him because it makes no obvious sense.

JingleFails · 23/12/2020 22:29

Its just so wierd-like theres a big chunk missing.
Ian on his death bed marrying Shaz then hes ok and its never been mentioned again.
The whole Max/ young women thing is absolutely vile 🤮 and Im fed up about Honey/Jay as its really unrealistic given their past relationship .
Grump

nancy75 · 23/12/2020 23:27

I think Sharon knows about Denny & she’s planning to bump off Ian & keep the Vic. Life Insurance will pay off the mortgage, so she’ll get revenge & the pub.
As said above its amazing no one else has commented on them getting married - Phil hates Ian and wouldn’t have missed a chance to take the piss.
Talking of Phil, he seems to have forgotten all about Raymond, the child he couldn’t be without a couple of weeks ago.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/12/2020 23:37

To get married in hospital under special licence. Have to be on deathbed

Yet next day ian was out with the lovely rectangle Plaster that phil had when whacked round the iron cabins rescuing Louise

Ian was on his deathbed. Several times in fact. He's been dead and undead more this last week than any other character in EE.

Caelano · 24/12/2020 08:52

Agree that Sharon seems to have an ulterior motive for marrying ian and it’s not just about keeping the Vic. I was thinking she’s behind the attack on Ian, but then why was Gray so invested in framing Tina? Is he responsible?

Ian and Sharon’s marriage - It’s absurd that Phil hasn’t mentioned it... he would definitely have an opinion.

Sad about Linda and Mick; couldn’t they let just one couple have a genuinely happy relationship without cheating and lies? I reckon it may come out later that Linda didn’t actually do the deed with Max, but really that won’t soften the blow much... she’s gone behind Micks back and spent the night in the bald ginger one’s bed; vom!

And where the hell is that copper?

SoupDragon · 24/12/2020 08:59

Gray wants to frame Tina because she has been questioning whether he was violent towards Chantelle. She has recognised his personality type as being that of a domestic abuser.

lazymum99 · 24/12/2020 09:20

Have Sharon and Ian consummated their marriage? Not a picture I want stuck in my head.

Caelano · 24/12/2020 09:26

And that another weird thing that’s been retconned by the writers. The two people who definitely suspected Gray of DV were Mitch and Kheerat. Mitch questioned Chantelle about what was wrong before she died and kheerat had a flipping escape plan with her. Gray knew they were on to him. Then suddenly up pops Tina and it’s like she’s the only one to suspect him of not being perfect! So many plot holes..

YouBoughtMeAWall · 24/12/2020 09:29

why was Gray so invested in framing Tina? Is he responsible?

Tina has started talking to people about how unpleasant gray is. She made the mistake of telling Whitney she was suspicious of whether he treated Chantelle like that and why were Mack and Mia not living with him. Whitney, who is totally besotted with Gray, told him all this so he needs to isolate Tina so she stops casting doubt over him. Getting her locked up is the perfect opportunity for him to silence her.

Iwantacookie · 24/12/2020 09:30

It seems like since its come back on air each episode doesnt relate to what goes on it the last one. Constantly feeling like I've missed a show

Caelano · 24/12/2020 09:30

@lazymum99 I’m assuming (hoping!) not. It gives Sharon a handy get out when she files for divorce. Oh hang on, is she even divorced from Phil yet? Surely there wasn’t time for that to be finalised? It was only 5 minutes ago she was threatening Phil that she wouldn’t cooperate with the divorce papers. Honestly, much as I love EE, it’s become a farce over recent weeks Grin

willsantausesantatize · 24/12/2020 09:49

The writers don't communicate is my only thoughts about it lately.
Plus the disappearing children is a worry too: Kim is acting like she hasn't got one let alone two!

SoupDragon · 24/12/2020 10:00

I think they are limiting the children because of social distancing.

It makes no sense not to have seen or really mentioned Kim's though.

Glad I’m not the only one!
I know it’s a soap and of course things will be exaggerated but one of the strengths EE has always played to (in the past) was keeping it real compared to other shows. We’re practically in the realms now of someone stepping out the shower and realising the previous few years have been a dream Grin I’m all for a bit of entertainment but continuity has gone right out the window. There is no consistency in the way characters behave and the plot holes (which to be fair have always been there but in minor ways) have become yawning chasms.
The only possible reason why Sharon would marry Ian would be if she knows about Denny and has a plan up her sleeve... but no doubt that’s too obvious and the writers will come up with something left field. Gray paying off some random pizza guy to make the phone call...no way would he trust that would be enough to get Tina convicted of murder, so why would he risk his profession (the only thing he’s got left!) by doing that?

It’s like the writers have thrown a load of ideas up in the air and are just stringing them together randomly Grin

willsantausesantatize · 24/12/2020 10:49

It's little Abbie's birthday tomorrow!
Poor kid! ..

Caelano · 24/12/2020 11:04

Wonder if any of the characters who’ve previously battled for custody will even remember?!

Now let me think... baby Abbie is Max’s and Ian’s grand daughter, kathy’s great grand daughter, Raine’s great niece (?) plus no doubt related to several other residents of the square, so maybe there’ll be a passing reference to her birthday if the writers remember

willsantausesantatize · 24/12/2020 11:39

Why can't Rainie adopt Abbie?
Would make sense but that's lacking lately

Caelano · 24/12/2020 11:52

Wasn’t that the plan when she had the fake marriage to Max? Which then apparently turned into real love. Until she met Stuart. Actually the two of them then seemed to spend a lot of time caring for Abbie. Until they got too busy shifting dead/undead people around in the funeral parlour. Poor Abbie’s been relegated to the baby cupboard now, clearly joined by Kim’s kids. She called up the stairs to them to get to bed when they arrived at Denise’s and we haven’t seen or heard anything about them since!

willsantausesantatize · 24/12/2020 12:33

The kids get a raw deal on soaps don't they? ..pregnancy , whose the daddy stories are fine. Once they show up it becomes boring and too hard to write them into the scripts , unless it's a custody battle.
(Look at Lexi and Ray , how Phil was about her and him etc : all forgotten)

yellowhighheels · 24/12/2020 12:40

Hi all.

I've not watched 'stenders for a good while but like to dip back in in time for te Christmas special. Few questions though:

Is there a reason Tanya or Lauren (from offscreen) never claimed Baby Abbie? Stuart and Rainie would seem a last resort option to me with her surviving aunt and grandparents plus the Beale side.

How has Jack just stepped back into being a police detective after so long away, wouldn't you need to do some retraining? Maybe he did.

Linda and Max??!

And lastly, Kheerat 😍😍😍 biggest fittie I've seen on telly in ages!

SoupDragon · 24/12/2020 12:55

Tanya had a breakdown when Abby died. I'm not sure about Lauren. Max fought for custody, marrying Rainie in order to present a family image. They got custody of Baby Abbie and then split up. Rainie and Stuart then got together and, I guess, share Baby Abbie with Max.

SpanishFly · 24/12/2020 13:04

My 15yr old son came in when I was watching EE, and said "Jack looks really different, I can't put my finger on it," then came back a few minutes later and said, "I've just realised it's because he was smiling, I've never seen him smile"
😅😅

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/12/2020 14:10

I doubt Lauren would want her sister child as dad was her bf at the time Stephen

I mentioned in other thread that Shane wasn’t divorced yet
