Who's your favourite West Wing character?

I know, I know, how to chose, they're all so fabulous. But I've been considering this for many years, and keep returning to the same conclusion: mine is Toby. He's not the most charismatic, but he's so very intelligent and blisteringly sarcastic, and God help me, I just love a grumpy man.

So who's yours?

CJ, but she is run a close second by Margaret, who is just so funny but also excellent at her job. I love how many interesting, competent women were in the show (even Amy the Annoying was briiliant).

For me it has to be CJ from the regular cast and Evelyn Baker-Lang (Glenn Close) as best guest star. I too love her mind, I love her shoes!

If you’ve never listened to it before I highly recommend the West Wing podcast which is a guide to every single episode in chronological order hosted by Joshua Malina (Will Bailey) and Hrishikesh Hirway (TWW super fan). It started in 2016 and concluded late last year so it’s interesting with hindsight to hear them talking about TWW and the early days of the Trump presidency. They have loads of guests on too, including appearances from the main cast and Aaron Sorkin himself.

I love it when a visitor to my office gets it straight away and we can have a West Wing obsessive chat. It’s like a secret society, if someone loves The West Wing I know we are going to get on.

CJ is a close second, but PPs are right on the money when they say even the ‘minor’ characters are so well written. Maybe we should have a thread about the non-leads?

You know the Big Block of Cheese episode? Why didn't Toby end up in a relationship with the police officer from the protests? She was awesome, and she got him, and wasn't intimidated in the slightest.

Also,from the episode, I love everything about the Cartographers for Social Equality and CJ's reaction to them.

I have the box set - think I'll dig it out and re-watch. Said I would watch the whole things during Trump's administration as an antedote and made it twice through.
