Who's your favourite West Wing character?

I know, I know, how to chose, they're all so fabulous. But I've been considering this for many years, and keep returning to the same conclusion: mine is Toby. He's not the most charismatic, but he's so very intelligent and blisteringly sarcastic, and God help me, I just love a grumpy man.

So who's yours?

Leo - when I started rewatching it recently and he came onto the screen for the first time my heart broke.

Leo is a grower, I think.

Josh is a grower/shrinker/grower...

I'm only seeing this now????

On first watch, Josh because I'm superficial and he has a nice ass.

Second watch, Toby, because he's beardy and clever (my ideal man, sorry DH -also beardy and clever but that's beside the point).

Third watch and evermore, CJ just because she's so clever, so funny and fast, so kind and right on. So so so awesome!

Josh - for his crazy political intensity (and for the "I'm Joey Lucas scene" while hungover and wearing yellow oilskins) oh and for pushing the button in the Zoey bar incident
Donna for character growth and "person on the street" policy explanations and being Canadian!
CJ - if only White House briefings still had this level of integrity plus Danny a rare reporter with integrity ... well until Josh took over briefing

I also liked the Supreme Court justices

• Ashland - grumpy old git (especially when Josh's intern sent him funeral flowers)

Yes! Love Abbey. I'm guessing a lot of MN can relate to her - having her own successful career but always playing second fiddle to her DH. If on a smaller scale.

Annoying: Mandy, Mallory, Amy and (to a lesser extent) Helen Santos.
Not a popular opinion on here, but I didn't always enjoy Abbey Bartlet.

Watching this for the first time - watch it as I exercise an hour a day great as it keeps me going!

Sam just because he is so so handsome. Rob Lowe in his prime hard to beat.

Rob Lowe is so handsome. And in the brains and geekiness: unbeatable. Yes, he does treat Lisa Edelstein's character badly, though.

Another one who doesn't wholely love Abbey. She has her moments, but she can be really sulky when Jed really doesn't deserve it.

Charlie - I love the character but not the actor (controversial?)

Sam annoyed me from time to time. Not really a Rob Lowe fan. I love Will Bailey, he has great lines.

Abby Bartlett. She had an incredible career in her own right, which took a hit for her husband's and for the greater good of the country. She risked everything for Jed by administering his medication. But she was furious with him for the political decision which endangered their daughter (even though we found out that wasn't the reason).
I think of her when the media discusses Michelle O, Melania or Jill B. It's a tough role.

Watching RIGHT NOW and Leo... what an actor and what lines he got. Adore him. But... I’ve always wondered how this Chicago Teamster became the 2nd most powerful man in the world.
