Who's your favourite West Wing character?

I know, I know, how to chose, they're all so fabulous. But I've been considering this for many years, and keep returning to the same conclusion: mine is Toby. He's not the most charismatic, but he's so very intelligent and blisteringly sarcastic, and God help me, I just love a grumpy man.

So who's yours?

Josh Or CJ

I love CJ. Rewatching at the minute on maternity leave and loving it.

Josh lights up my life.
Then CJ.
Even the small characters, like Oliver Babish were wonderful.
Will Bailey has great comic timing.
The "He's one of us" moment on paper is one of my favourite scenes.
I wouldn't say no to Matt Santos.

Toby was also on my boy's names list! I'm not sure who my favourite main cast member is, too tough to decide. Outside of the main cast Admiral Fitzwallace was great. Also Arnold Vinick and Glen Walken were great.

I'm currently listening to the podcast The West Wing Weekly, hosted by Josh Malina (Will Bailey). It's worth a listen with a podcast for each episode.

God I'm so fickle - it's really episode dependent for me. Jed in the two cathedrals episode was just perfection so he might edge it when it comes to a fav character. Or josh in the Christmas episode where he smashes his fist through a window. Or CJ and Toby in pretty much every episode.
Agree with pp who said even the minor characters were gold. Ainsley Hayes being the standout for me.
Best telly series. Ever.

Toby, almost called my son Toby because of him. Feel like they did him a disservice with the shuttle storyline though.

The 2 Cathedrals must be my favourite episode - so much emotion. and when he puts he's hands in his pockets............

Of the main characters CJ. Of the minor ones probably Lord Marbury. "GERALD!"

Toby seemed unable to argue without shouting. It annoys me that he cannot make a point without raising his voice. Also he frequently crunches sweets or nuts loudly.

Sam is very controlling in his interactions with the call-girl non-girlfriend.

Love CJ and Donna and the fact that they are allowed to grow in power throughout the series.

Surprisingly I liked Christopher Mulready in the Supremes episode and of course adored Evelyn Baker. What I really liked about that episode was two people with diametrically opposed views having an argument but still respecting each other and finding qualities to admire in each other.
