Our Girl Thread 58 "Our Girl and Soldier Soldier Revisited"

We have been following Our Girl since 2014 and although there are to be no further series, we revisit time and time again to discuss. As an alternative, we are also watching the 1990s series of Soldier Soldier.

The Colonel has lightened up a bit. He apologises for being stuffy and rude at the start of the evening.

Tell me when to look.

Steve gets arrested after the fight in the pub. Is that Nancy's Sergeant again?

Sorry, got distracted searching for Sam's father's real name. He's called Michael Elwyn but I can't see anything he's been in that I would have watched.

Meanwhile, the search goes on for Joe. The lads and Stacey encroach on the Paras' pub. Not a good move.

Oh no...the soldier that Farrell punched has died. That is really bad news and it looks bad for him.

Yes, Nancy's sergeant has been in that role all through the series I think!

Joe doesn't know it yet but the Para he punched has now died so he'll be up on a murder charge.

Sam's dad approaches for a chat. Yes, he does look familiar. Wonder why Sam doesn't get on with her dad. Ah, so he's not with her mother anymore. Looks like dad split up with her mother.

The music at the dinner is, shall we say, eclectic.

Oh dear, that was a bit of an embarrassing scene. Looks like the phone call arrived just in time.

Joe is up on top of the scaffolding, still drinking his tinnies.

Oh, now we see why Sam doesn't have much time for her father. Sounds as if she and her mother followed him around to further his career then he split up with her mother.

A row ensues. Saved, not by the bell, but by a phone call requesting the Colonel to go back to the barracks. He's obviously been told about Joe's situation.

Steve, Dave and the Elf try and do their own private search. When they get back to barracks, they fine Joe sitting on the roof, probably about to top himself. Steve climbs up the scaffolding to try to talk him down.

Joe confesses that Collette is getting married to someone else and she's pregnant. That's gut wrenching for him.

Poor Joe, he didn't want much really, just what most people want in life. He is totally gutted.

We find out that Colette is expecting a baby with somebody else she has met whilst working overseas.

Steve is doing a good job keeping Joe talking.

Is Hoe the Dave Tucker character in this series?

Steve pulls him back from the brink and brings him down, but now he's being arrested over the dead soldier. I guess it would be manslaughter really.

Dad turns up to apologise to Sam. She's not having any of it.

I'm guessing there's no way back from this for Joe. He'll probably end up being kicked out of the army.

Every credit to Steve for what he did. Must be a horrible feeling for him knowing Joe is going to end up in prison..

Tim is going to confess to the Colonel that he leaked the story to the press. I can't imagine this will go down well.

Mjoar Tim goes to see the Colonel to confess he was the one who leaked the story to the press.

Steve waits in the rain to see his friend. Poor Joe, poor Steve. This is miserable....

Oh, Tin is fessing up.
