What do you reckon?

I like living in a multicultural, busy, vibrant city myself. But Hackney will probably be last again because it's got too many immigrants or something...

OP posts:
scampadoodle · 17/10/2007 22:44

All the best places are probably v nice but zzzzzzzzz...

(Speaking as a resident of no7 Worst: Islington)

WotzaZombie · 17/10/2007 22:45

I think its a load of poo

scampadoodle · 17/10/2007 22:48

& how crap was Kirstie's sister?!!
I think Phil & K's natural chemistry got them through that, though you could tell K was bricking it...

Notyummy · 17/10/2007 22:53

The programe was no good live and dosen't need a 90 minutes slot. I quite like location location but that twas pants...they seemed stilted and Sophie has Kelly Brooks' natural slick presenting skills......

WotzaZombie · 17/10/2007 22:56

for anyone that can be bothered here is the list

havalina · 17/10/2007 23:39

Apparently Middlesbrough was the worst place to live, I grew up there until I was 20 and erm no comment really tis pretty shit but it had it's good points.

gibberish · 17/10/2007 23:42

Didn't Edinburgh win?

I live in Scotland, but wouldn't ever want to live in Edinburgh. A lovely city, but not to live in.

Carmenere · 17/10/2007 23:44

What a load of old bollix. the facts would make a reasonably good newspaper feature or maybe even a 30 minute programme but it was really badly done. It was stilted and badly produced and kirsties sister was just rude to her interviewees.

gibberish · 17/10/2007 23:47

Carmenere, was Edinburgh meant to be the best place to live in??

How do they justify their findings? Just wondering, as according to the link given, my county had not been voted for. But it is a lovely place to live, very quiet, very little crime and absolutely beautiful. So wonder what their criterias are and wonder where they get their votes.

Carmenere · 17/10/2007 23:59

They had loads of criteria.
Prices
Crime
Education
Green credentials
Amenities
Other stuff I can't remember.

Tortington · 18/10/2007 00:17

my town got 5/5 stars rated in top 20 seaside towns in uk.

gibberish · 18/10/2007 00:26

This is absolute crap.

We live in one if the most beautiful counties of Scotland, but because it is the smallest in Scotland, it has had, as a result, the fewest votes. This absolutely does not not make it the wost place to live in Britain however. We have virtually no crime, beautiful scenery, very good schools (although my girls are HE'd) and is a lovely place to live. I wouldn't wish to live anywhere else.

WotzaZombie · 18/10/2007 00:27

My town (not mentioned) got 5/5 ahead of Guildford which is close to where I used to live and was rated No. 12 and only 3/5, so how does that work out then?

Novacane · 18/10/2007 11:08

and where was harrogate? we were second last year i do recall..........

The presenting made me cringe....and I do love phil and kirsty.

scampadoodle · 18/10/2007 12:14

Edinburgh is lovely, I agree - but what about its horrendous drug problem & that constant icy wind off the Firth of Forth?!

& have these people never watched Rebus??

i love it - but then i am in edinburgh!

3Ddonut · 18/10/2007 12:30

I live in Middlesbrough (there I've said it.) and I love it here, it's got it's grim points, yes, but I've been to some far nastier places. Dh and I had a chat about this the other night and basically we can't see the point to it, it's just damaging to the areas voted worst and the areas voted best will already be doing just fine. I didn't see the programme and don't have any particular wish to, but I'm sure that they won't have shown any of the nice aspects of our town.

MissInvisible · 18/10/2007 12:41

im in middlesbrough too!..it DOES have lots of problems (drugs/unemployment/crime etc) but i do NOT believe it is worse than most other palces..it showed the most run down horrible areas on this town, not where i live, or acklam, marton, nunthorpe which would have totally changed the veiw!, we dont all live in boarded up ex crack houses my dd's school is absolutely fantabulous and she is doing so well..we have beautiful parks, good shopping, lovely resteraunts and nice bars, great uni and where i live in particular, there is so much development going on (already nice here though), im astounded, new homes, apartments, multi million pound new college being built not to far away.
im not 'outraged' just think like with everything these days its the way they WANT to portray it..clever editing!
like theyve just said on tfm, london has more gun/knife crimes/deaths, more terrorism attacks, more homlessness etc, but was all that mentioned???Nope!

3Ddonut · 18/10/2007 13:13

Well said missinvisible, are you new to MN we tried to organise a mini-meet up a while ago, but I had a minor flounce and wasn't sure how it turned out! Do you like living in Middlesbrough? I do, I was brought up in Redcar and I'm really enjoying Middlesbrough life, our fave places being the museums and parks! Have yet to experience Mima I have always wanted to live in YOrk, but even if the opportunity should present itself, I'm not ready to leave the Boro! I'm very settled here, and I have my roots firmly down, I've never been this settled anywhere! So there! Kirsty and PHil, or should I say, programme makers!

DrNortherner · 18/10/2007 14:22

Hello North East folk!!! I grew up in redcar and worked in Middlebrough.

Last night Phill kept saying Middles borough

Grrr.

My Mam is fuming and is refusing to watch the programme ever again!
